RESISTORS - Tiny Scars 1990

Founded 1988 in Friedrichshafen by Markus (vocals/bass), Joachim & Torsten (guitars), C.B. Wecker (drums), and Tiny Scars is the interesting debut of the Resistors and they don't just play simple music, they blend a healthy mix of Hardrock, Punk and a bit of metal into a decent sound. I know, I have their 7Inch Your Fascist Mind but can't find this sucker anymore and a rip as well, but that's not tragic because both songs are on this slab. Their songs sometimes reach a span of six minutes and captivate with their solid guitar playing and catchy melodies. They also have a certain personal sharpness in their lyrics and set all this compactly and dynamically and the four like to prove their musical skills in front of an enthusiastic audience. Two more albums followed until 1995, a few Compilation invitations, and since then they have only been on the road sporadically, as time permits. Very good record and I like it, not only short & dirty (I think, the album also caters for this faction) and for all, who would like to discover something 'different'. V/A - Kalt Wie Eis 1981

Soundtrack slabs are rare on wdthtc, but this record is interesting because of the movie of the same name: Kalt Wie Eis (Cold As Ice) is a hard-hitting NewWave thriller that picks up on the Black Series Hollywood movies of the 1930s, and the movie itself is worth seeing and the music as well. A short description of what's about: Mike is fed up with everything and everyone. Just eighteen years old, he initially quit the apprenticeship as a car mechanic because his master supposedly acted stupidly on him. Then there is constant trouble with the grumbling parents who don't like his lifestyle. The young man leaves his previous life behind, uncompromising and radical. However, the newly won "freedom" doesn't get him any further: binges in Kreuzberg's neighborhood pubs and women's stories, which don't really satisfy him either. Things don't seem to change until Mike meets Corinna, a dark-haired neighborhood beauty. But then Mike finally takes the wrong path and his existence threatens to get out of hand. As the smallest light in a gang, he fixes stolen motorcycles and is promptly caught: juvenile prison and another downward spiral are the consequences. Corinna, who promised to wait for him, is now visiting less and less. Mike's anger boils and he decides to break out of prison. After his successful escape cost the life of a policeman, the petty criminal has become a dangerous criminal for the authorities, and the blond rebel begins to be hunted down. Betrayed by his gang buddies, who in turn believe he ratted them out to the police, Mike begins to run amok. An excess of violence, born of general frustration with life, can no longer be stopped and Mike takes bloody and explosive revenge on his former buddies. Interesting story, and the soundtrack offers a decent selection of different German interpreters whose range was attractive to me at the time, of course after more than forty years some things sound lame and diverse, but I think the record is a nice part of this time and has good songs stocked..... and now the 2023 Bundesliga final.

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World #7 2022

Well it's time for one more Bloodstains Compilation and this one is cheap like the other "from all over the world" (from #3) and kept in a simple CD-R format, but I'm pleased that there are always maniacs who share their things, in contrast to other arrogant Assholes who defame such small people even though they don't know them at all and believe that they contribute a part of underground culture with their so-called professional Compilations (hahaha...), they just have to get their ass kicked and I give them a big Fuck You! I prefer to take these because the originals aren't tangible and I am grateful for this and everyone who thinks the same way will be enthusiastic with this cheap but cool one.

DIETER MEIER - Cry For Fame 7'' 1978

Before founding Yello in 1979, Dieter Meier from Zurich was in various Punk bands active and released some decent Singles. This two Killer track goodie is one of them and came out via Periphery Perfume and the line-up consisted of Dieter (vocals), Kurt (guitars), Bruno (bass), Dieter (drums). Two fast & furious bullets shoot straight in your pretty face and the smoke clears slowly over your head and you Cry For Fame!, definitely one of the best Swiss records ever pressed on vinyl, really a blast I would say. Another 7inch Jim For Tango followed but it's just dust compared to this explosive one. With that, the long Pentecost weekend is opened and check the four on some essential Compilations if you haven't enough, Cheers!

LARSEN - Requiem 7'' 1984

Madrid based combo Larsen released their first EP No! via Spansuls Records and is fantastic four track record but the stars ain't stood good for them. After the release Monje (vocals/guitar) left and from then they continued as trio and José, a friend of the band, took over the mic. More info from discogs: With Chema on vocals they recorded two sessions, but the recordings were never released. The first sessions were initially planned for an LP, and what was going to be its first single Requiem was released in 1984. But the Spanish label Spansuls Records never paid to the studio for the sessions, so they confiscated the master tapes and the LP was forgotten. The second sessions took place in Winter of 1984, this time paid by the band members. Unfortunatelly for the band, no label was interested in releasing the material, so the tapes were stored and forgotten until some of the material was finally released in 2001 as Larsen by Potencial Hardcore. After that, Pollo & Mosca started rehearsing with Manolo from La Uvi and Commando 9mm was formed. Sortly after that the two musicians started focusing on C9mm and Larsen was finally forgotten and in early 1985 the group disbanded. Both EP's were put together on CD called Vomitas Sangre and came out by Radikal 1977 Records in 2002.

THE CROWS - Don't Play Around 7'' 1980

There's not much to write about the Crows from Belgium and this is the only 7Inch with two nice PowerPop goodies, a faster track on the A-Side and a reggae touch on the flip. The Crows consisted of Mike (vocals), Skar (guitars), Caine (bass), Toche (drums) and I think the band broke up after the release and possibly continued playing in other bands. Rarely represented on Compilations, one of those the Belgique Putain Frigide from 1996. A nice record with two catchy songs that will definitely relax you.

PHOSPHOR - Sandra Lee EP 1981

A few minimalistic sounds now by Phosphor, a band from Hanover and formed 1979 by Lennart (guitar/vocals), Jens (bass/vocals), Uwe (drums), Frank (saxophone), and a good year later they released their debut EP with five songs via the band's own label Spargel Schallplatten. Followed by the album Frisch & Fruchtig, which was voted one of the ten best independent long-playing records from Germany by the English New Musical Express. Phosphor disbanded in 1980 and Jens went to Der Moderne Man and the rest had already formed the NewWave band Index Sign by late 1979. At the beginning of 1981 this last EP with three tracks was released. For the fact that they were more local and their records sometimes reach decent amounts among collectors, they are welcome guests on relevant Compilations. I think, a relaxing finish for the first bad day of the week.

THE FANS - Giving Me That Look In Your Eyes EP 1979

Debut 7Inch by The Fans, a four piece which formed around 1978 in Bristol and this record features three PowerPop goodies and was a remarkable success for them, so that the second Single You Don't Live Here Anymore followed a year later. After this release the four secured a major publishing deal but internal frictions about musical direction caused the band to split. The Japanese reissue label 1977 Records brought another EP in 2009 with three more songs and Radiation Reissues put out 2021 a Compilation with all their recordings plus rare demo tracks. Good stuff and the right sound for this Sunday midday!

T.B.C. - Atompilz EP 1997

500 copies on Krachschwindel Records and T.B.C. was a short four piece from Berlin and consisted of Der Dicke Klaus (vocals), Ratte (guitars), Dietmar (bass), Igel (drums) and were founded in the early Eighties and made their only tape 60/30 in 1982 and two songs from it made it onto the grandiose Mutti's Muntere Melodei Compilation by Destiny Records. Fifteen years later, the label discovered the recordings and packed seven typical snotty D-Punk numbers onto this small, desirable 7Inch. The recording quality is okay throughout and they were taken from the original tape and not remixed, music like this wants to be left raw and unpolished. And that is given here, short, dirty and demanding songs that not only make Hardcore manaics happy! T.B.C. later became Porno Patrol which released their only great Jump Back EP in 1984 and some Compi entrances. - Enough stuff for today, you know it's Saturday, I leave the stage to watch what?

RAMONES - Swallow My Pride EP 1977

Nun, with the Ramones you never can't go wrong and I don't want to write much more about the four from New York, we all know their story. Famous band, one-two-three-four forward Punkrock with a lot of leather on it. This is, I think, the fourth 7Inch and both songs on the A-side were taken from the second album Leave Home while the flip is a goodie which was recorded live at The Roxy in Los Angeles. This music is still absolutely high class and I'm always in a good mood when I listen to and often play them when I'm in trouble or pissed off. In the meantime their original records have increased in value and I advise anyone who doesn't know the band, they really exist, to buy their records because there's hardly a bad one out there.
