CHAOS GENERATION -s/t LP 1986

Now it's not hard to guess where I'm going this year and in four hours I'm in the plane so I leave you with this fantastic band and here is the full bio: In April 1982 in Athens, three friends: Thodoris (Drums), Nikos (Bass) and his cousin also Nikos (Guitar & Vocals) formed a band named Anti-Culture influenced by Punk/New Wave with political lyrics. In winter 1983 Nikos left the band. Then Costas (Guitar/Vocals) and Mars (Vocals) joined. The band renamed to Chaos Generation and became part of the early Punk scene in Athens.

On 7.4.1983 they gave a live performance @ Sofita Club in Plaka with Ex-Humans & in October they also performed live @ Anemoni Cinema in Agia Paraskeui with Adiexodo atthat time the changed their name to CHAOS GENERATION. Before the end of the year they released along with Adiexodo the split tape "Dead End & Chaos Generation Wish You Good Appetite!" In 1984 Nikos and Mars left the band, Akis (Bass & Vocals) and Dimitris (Vocals) accordingly took their place. In Spring they got singed by Enigma Records and in July they recorded two tracks and participated to the first Greek Punk compilation, the legendary: "Disturbing The Peace" 1985 they performed a live @ Chevrolet Pub in Ioannina and in the same year with Adiexodo @ Anesis Cinema in Agrinio, the second live was recorded and distributed hand to hand through bands friends, as split tape titled "Chaos Generation & Dead End Wish You Happy Easter!"

In the early 1986 Dimitris leave the band and ?ikos became front-man of the band, it was then when they signed a one year contract with the label Right Way witch later renamed to DiDi Music, by the summer they released the self-titled debut album but the 1st press was shortly removed from the market due to bad sound an replased by a 2nd press. By autumn Akis leave the band to play bass for Parkinson Square in France, Dimitris and Alexis came in and bring new influences, the second guitar gave more volume to the audible outcome, their style went off the Punk clichés with more poetic lyrics referring to inner search of human political stance. In June 22nd they played live with Moot Point, Grover and Out Of Control @ Theatro Dasous/Thessaloniki and in November they supported The Ex & The Shrubs from Holland @ the Club 22 Autokinisi/Athens.

In winter 1987 Theodore (Drums), Alexis (Bass), Dimitris (Guitar/Vocals), Costas (Guitar/Vocals) started recording new material and in February 1988 they supported for two live shows The EX @ the Rodon Club in Athens, and finally on Feb 20th their last live performance @ 127 db Club/Eksarxeia. By the end of Februray 1989 their second and last album Requiem was released by DiDi Music and then they broke up the same year! They performed many live gigs all over Greece, drawing alternative & anti-government audiences.

The words of the front cover is written by Akis: Thirteen Days, Thirteen Nights, and Colors Become Long-Departed Figures. Out of sight, tears flowed, and cold stones built a house with no windows, a home for the mind's lonely dance. Why should I care about the winter outside of my home? But someone freezes outside my door. And I kill him all the time, cut it, cut it. But he smiles at me, shows me a fire, invites me to go with them and dance with them.....

Enjoy the music and stay decent!

DEPROGRAMMER - s/t LP 1982

After two great 7Inches on At Last Records Deprogrammer, Richard (vocals), Philip (guitars), Paul (bass), Philipp (drums), from Texas released 1982 via Mystic Records their only full length. Very intoxicating mid-tempo punk that shines on the A-side with two minute crackers while the B side contains more than three minutes songs; reminds me of the sixties 7Inches, which were mostly equipped in this formatAnyway, on compilations rarely represented, just why? - It's time to pack my bag and do some important things.

THE VYLLIES - s/t 12'' 1984

The Vyllies, Manu (vocals/percussion), Ursula (rhythm box), Ilona (vocals/bass), were a Swiss trio from Lausanne and formed 1983, inspired by Goth and Dark Wave music. In the mid-80s, the band toured with well-known UK bands, they released two albums and four EP's. This is their debut record which was released via the Greek label Creep Records and we have five catchy electronic different moodscapes ala Anne Clark. Only a few copies find their way to Switzerland. Enough, however, to be discovered and played by different radio stations. After some major concerts in Switzerland, the band embarks on a European tour lasting several months in the spring of 1987. Despite success, the three women go separate ways from mid-1988.

V/A - Des Jeunes Gens Mödernes 2008

"Post Punk/Cold Wave & Novo Culture in France 1978-1983", that's what you get and Born Bad Records released this little nugget in an edition of 500 copies. I think the French language fits best with this spherically melancholic dark sound which I need occasionally. A few tasters of other bands are scattered im blog and it's worth looking for. So, the damn cold torments me longer than expected and although I swallowed a lot of medication, the bastard remains persistent. I guess it takes a bit of alcohol to kill those annoying bugs and this weekend the fabulous Museumsuferfest offers a large selection of it. To that live bands, good friends and balmy summer evenings, life's great..... sometimes!

1.Elle Hôtesse - TOKOW BOYS
2.Ersatz - GUERRE FROIDE
3.Torso Corso - LIZZY MERCIER DESCLOUX
4.Mots - RUTH
5.Can't You Take A Joke - HENRIETTE COULOUVRAT
6.Man Of Time - KAS PRODUCT
7.La Grande Guerre - ICE
8.Manekine - MATHEMATIQUES MODERNES
9.Tokio Airport - METAL BOYS
10.Essor Assuré - VISIBLE
11.Extase - MÉCANIQUE RYTHMIQUE
12.Exposition - CHARLES DE GOAL

THE KURSAALS - Television Generation 7'' 1977

High energy pub punk rock by the Kursaals, founded as the Kursaal Flyers in Southend in October 1973 and are considered a band that "bridges the gap between pub rock and power pop". They released five albums and a couple of 7Inches. They toured extensively and after numerous personnel changes, the band disintegrated in late 1977. Following the Kursaals' demise, Shuttleworth (vocals) released several solo records, Douglas (guitar) enjoyed success with Eddie & The Hot Rods, and Birch (drums) formed The Records. The group reformed for tours in 1985 and 1988, and in 2001 they reformed on a more permanent basis. TV Generation was released on CBS Records and offers two delicious stouts.

RUDOLF'S RACHE - Kings Of Balla Balla 1988

I know, I have posted this record before but I don't fuckin' know when and where, apparently not in this theatre. Anyway, Rudolf's Rache are four punx from Rastede and were founded in the early eighties and after three tapes (listen to the first) the small punk label Starving Missile from Munich finally showed mercy and took the band under her wings and released their debut EP 'Unrasiert' in 1985. Two years later followed the second EP 'Pffrrrt!' under severe labor pains in our cosmos. A numerous fan base formed in East Frisia and the youth clubs were no longer sufficient for concerts, the whole region finally screamed for an album. To meet all the wishes, the four rented again the prestigious Masterplan Studio and recorded with some guest musicians Kings Of Balla Balla, also on Starving Missile. After that, Europe was open! Many gigs in stadiums were played, two 7inches and another album ('93) were released until the band decided in the mid 90's to spend the earned money and to lead a decent life as investment banker, real estate agent, cook and lawyer... until today. Solid punk rock with not so serious stories.

THE REPTILES - Reptiles For Tea EP 1983

Not much infos about the Reptiles, probably from Newcastle, and after two demos they released their only record on Volume Records with three nice crackers, also hardly represented on compilations, that alone shows how rare this 7Inch isVery pleasant catchy songs, excellent production and an absolute secret tip. A must listen!

LOOSE PRICK - Mua Potkitaan Päähän 7'' 1979

Loose Prick was formed fall 1977 in Kouvola by Pauli (vocals), Jussi (guitar), Harri (bass), Timo (drums) and existed for five years. Their debut 7'' was recorded February 5th 1979 @ the Microvox studios and released via the essential Poko Rekords label. Both songs are written by guitarist Kylliäinen, and they a pretty good. I'm in a hurry so reach more info about Loose Prick via the Valkoiset Sotilaat album post or visit finnmusic for the full bio.

TEJP - Tung Rock 7'' 1979

Back to the late seventies with a cool rockin single by this obscure Swedish group. The A-side starts with a Chuck Berry intro and pushes through the whole song, fast rockin' and a solid solo in the middle. I like the driving rhythms here which shots me instantly in a good mood and a perfect start into the weekend. Surprisingly good sound for a forty years old record, respect! Side B is no less bad, starts immediately forward and I like it a bit better. Wow!!! Extreme mid-tempo proto punk rock'N'roll. The band were three piece: Inge Tillberg (guitars), Thomas Wretman (drums) and Stabben Wahlman (vox+bass) and what has become to them is beyond my knowledge. It's their only record I think and was self-produced by the band and released in a small edition. Tejp (Tape) is a good rock'N'Roll band and I like both tracks and the punk factor is clearly audible. Worth a listen!!!
