THE MOB - Let The Tribe Increase 1982

The kick-off of the final Champions League match is near and the two English clubs want the cup and that's why now in recognition a fantastic record from England. The Mob formed in the far reaches of Somerset, England sometime in the late 1970's just as the UK anarchopunk scene was taking shape. The band at this time was the trio of Mark (guitar, vocals, lyrics), Graham (drums), and Curtis (bass). From out in the dark hills this group arrived at an extreme and unique sound: menacing, brooding, and extremely dark music and words with none of the speed or spectacle of their contemporaries. The Mob (perhaps because of their seclusion as a young band) arrived at an inward-looking but equally urgent approach to that of the urban punk set. The bass and drums drove forward unrelentingly as the guitar chopped and slashed fragmented riffs underneath Mark's life-drained, monotone singing. The band's first single Crying Again was released in 1979 (the same year they did some gigs in Holland) on their own. The rest info is in the file so and I still have to buy beers before it starts. I wish you a lot of fun with the game.

DIE LASSIE SINGERS - Helfen Dir 1991

June, summer, sun, beautiful music and since I had the pleasure to spend eight hours in the office today, I need cheerful music now and that's what the Lassie Singers do. Founded 1988 in Berlin-Kreuzberg and parted again ten years later. With their mixture of creative brilliance and technical dilettance, the band musically fit into the tension between late NDW aftermath and the burgeoning indie self-confidence of the early Hamburger Schule. On the one hand, the lyrics celebrated an offensive naivety and playfulness, but often played with a mischievous and charming hostility towards men. Thanks to legendary song titles such as freedom from a man's mouth (Puke), The couple's lie or How a narrow-minded taxi driver has just destroyed a burgeoning young love (Cologne), the Lassie Singers were at times as "female response to die Ärzte". Core of the group were Christiane Rösinger (aka Christiane Hügelsheim) and Almut Klotz (aka Almut Schummel), the rest of the cast varied. The founding member Funny Van Dannen left the Lassie Singers before the first album, but continued to contribute songs for the band. With Kathrin von Witzleben, Herman Herman and Heiner Weiß the band was completed and the first concerts were played at the legendary Kreuzberg SO36. Pretty soon amn got to the major sony, so that in 1991 the debut album "The Lassie Singers Help You" varied. Commercially, it was not very successful, as well as the Moodier successors "Sei A Go Go" 1992. Three years later, Klotz and Rösinger returned with a completely new line-up, including former Ideal guitarist Eff Jott Krüger. With "City Land Crime" and the accompanying single "Schade" the band reached the pinnacle of their success and also convinced the critics. Although the Lassie Singers sounded as pop and professional as never before, but by no means renounce the snappy-grotesque lyrics. However, the cooperation with Krüger was not consistently harmonious, so that the work was completed quickly. Instead, they tried one last time as a "real band". In 1995, the band recorded the album "Hotel, Hotel" with Britta Neander from Ton Steine Scherben on drums and bassist Dodo Herting. Klotz and Rösinger recorded their first guitar themselves and was produced by Thomas Meinecke in Hamburg.

After four albums, hundreds of concerts and a lot of spilled pop star blood, 1998 the Lassies are over. "Tours make you old, fat, ugly and sad", they say at some point and enter the last round with the "Time-To-Say-Tschüss" tour. Not without promising to make young musicians into pop stars with their label Flittchen Records - they can never become as big as the original Lassie Singers. In the same year, the two compilations "Best of ..." & "Rest of the Lassie Singers" appeared on the specially for Klotz and Rösinger founded Flutchen Records. Christiane & Britta founded the band Britta with Julie Miess, while Almut Klotz found short-lived projects like Parole Trixi or Maxi played under people and was active in the Popchor Berlin founded by her together with Reverend Chr. Dabeler under the name Klotz + Dabeler. Almut Klotz died in August 2013 of cancer, Britta Neander died at the age of 48 years after a heart surgery in Berlin.

LA SOURIS DÉGLINGUÉE - Varsovienne 7'' 1982

Last call for May and I was very productive. And now: a bit rockabilly, sometimes reggae and delicious punk, that's La Souris Déglinguée (a.k.a. LSD) from Paris. This is their single from 1982 on Kuklos Records with the promo cover (250 copies) and we have two different tracks here. The title track is a short number and when you listen to it you might think this was a Russian punk combo. Very nice traditional sound and an Russian army choir looks like young mugs with lots of pimples, hahaa.... the flip is a cool ska-reggae bitch with lots of lalelulalalolula... nice and cozy. I've posted their debut album some time ago with more infos about the band, so let L.S.D. in!!!

PÖBEL MÖBEL & ANTI-HUND MINA - Split 12'' 1984

Anti-Hund Mina + Pöbel Möbel are from the Jönköping area in fuckin' Sweden and these are the only vinyl cuts by Anti-Hund Mina while Pöbel Möbel made an album called Let Sleepin' Dogs Lie in 1987, an additional EP in 1986 plus a few compilation visits (Cultural Compost Pit! or Really Fast Vol.3, etc...). This golden shower splashes six energetic hardcore waves in your face, three each band, with a cool metal touch. The Anti-Hund songs are for me punkier and they put all their skills in it; short, rough and yummy, the warmth I like and drops must be, Huuiiiiiiiii - Nothin' more to say; a classic Swedish waterfall in any case!

AUSBRUCH - Harte Zeiten 1985

Freshly ribbed and now on the blog, it can go fast sometimes. Harte Zeiten was Ausbruch's first album, originally released on Roof Music in 1985, reprinted via Rude Records in 1989 and sold out on vinyl ever since. Ausbruch from Geilenkirchen and Aachen were founded in 1981 under the name "Sparmaßnahme" by Gerd (vocals), Günther (guitars), Hansel (bass) and René (drums), which was based on their sparse equipment and the fact that no one of them could ever play an instrument before. A year later, the group renamed Ausbruch. By winning a band competition of the rock factory in Übach-Palenberg, the group was able to visit a recording studio and recorded there five pieces which found the way on the legendary compilations: Hardcore Power Music Part 2 and We Don't Need Nuclear Force (both on Mülleimer Records). The group got a contract with the Bochum label Roof Music and released their debut album Harte Zeiten and has fourteen songs that are classic 80s German punk, and the first press is hard to find nowadays. Great mid-tempo punk numbers with great melodies, catchy songs and great choirs. Between the political issues of the time, always current content and the obligatory drunksong (Ich Bin Voll). In addition to twelve German-language songs, "Harte Zeiten" already contains two English songs, a way the eruption should then consistently continue. The second album "Auf Alte Zeiten" (recorded in 1989, but only published posthumously in the mid-90s) is already predominantly English-speaking and after the release the group broke up. On 20 and 21 November 2015, two reunion concerts took place in the Rover Aachen in original cast, which were distributed due to the high demand on two evenings. Since then Ausbruch give more or less regular concerts in Germany, which are announced on their Facebook page. At the end of 2016, a new record (Zahn Der Zeit) was released, which is available on Twisted Chords 2017.

VELLOCET - Welcome To Dimension Four 1988

Second and final album by Berlin combo Vellocet, the band was formed in April 1985 by drummer Jürgen "Sgt. Heiland" and after some more members came to the band, the label Vinyl Boogie became aware of the band, whereupon the single Here Is The Warning appeared on the Pogar label. This was followed by various appearances in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria. In addition to Heiland, the group consisted of guitarist Michael "Michi" Weindl, bassist Thomas "Heschel" Rickert and singer Jens "Yenn". In 1986, the band recorded their debut album Captive Of Reality, which appeared in 1987 on Snake Records. In August 1988, the second album Welcome To Dimension Four was recorded in the Berlin Vielklang Studios and was released later that year on Destiny Records, with Christian "Archi C Alert" Pfister as second guitarist. The band broke up afterwards. Soundwise finest TrashPunk is offered and you can guess in which known combos some members previously played.

LAMA - s/t LP 1982

Fine classic Punkrock here from Helsinki's Lama and this is their debut LP which was released on Johanna Records. The band was founded in 1977 and was active until 1983. The original line-up were Jari "Epe" Kronholm (voice), Eno (bass), Charlie (guitars), Jarkko "Jere" Hämäläinen (drums) and Rane Raitsikka (guitars). Jere, however, was soon replaced by Jusa. The band's rehearsal space was in Helsinki and after recordin' some demos they released their first 7inch 'Totuus Löytyy Kaurapuurosta' in 1980 on Johanna Records. With their melodic aggressive style was the success not long in comin'. Lama publish overall four 7inches and two albums and in 1983 a collection of the first four EP's called "...Ja Mikään Ei Muuttunut". In 2005 the original members of the band got back together for a couple of concerts. A review about this album: "Another excellent punk album from Finland. As we've already indicated, Lama aren't one of the young thrash bands, but an older-style punk group that started in '78-'79. But that doesn't mean that they sound like today's boring English clone groups. They have musical muscle, songs with great dynamics, tightness, and they play pretty damn fast for a bunch of old-timers. Their new thrashed-out version of "Tavastia" is a classic, the high point of this LP. Rumors has that they're breaking up. What a shame!" - Jeff Bale (from MRR #4, January/February 1983) / One of the best bands from Finland. Sadly, one of the members died some years ago. They featured on many awesome killer compilations. Now meet powerful mid-tempo Punk at it's best!

RIOT SQUAD - Religion Doesn't Mean A Thing! EP 1982

Debut EP on Rondelet Music & Records by Mansfield-based punx Riot Squad with three short uncompromising crackers and as you can see from the title of the record, it goes lyrically forward as well. Musically, the sound I love and unfortunately the band disbanded after the album No Potential Threat in 1984. But in 1995 Captain Oi! released a cool compilation of all of their five singles called The Complete Punk Collection, made for all the couch potatoes. Oh, I want to impose their last single Theres No Solution on you as well. Let's see if the postman will make me happy today.
