WASTE - The Lost Tapes EP 2021

Now to a damn hot record which I'm very happy to present to you, and which comes straight from the band's headquarters, sent by Mister Hans personally and exclusive for wdthtc! "Daar ben ik heel dankbaar voor en wil je eerst mijn hartelijke groeten, maat đź’“" On this little slab are five fast fantastic uncompromising, unpolished killers who exude pure energy and I like them immediately after the first note, the level is consistently kept high and brings the emoitions of the early 80s into your four walls, I have seldom heard such great stuff from the neighboring country... and I mean it, folks! Tasty infos from the backcover: "These five tracks were recorded between the summers of 1981 and 1983 at the band's practice room, which was located in a monastary in Oudenbosch, a village in the south-west Netherlands. Waste consisted of Nonkel RR (vocals), Hans (guitars), Klaus (bass), Fred (drums). Back in the early 80s they played at venues all over the country, including Paradiso in Amsterdam. Their sought after History Repeats EP was released by the Breda-based Miranda label in December 1982. Now, almost forty years later, the band's modest discography gets expanded with this new EP of rare, archival material. The sound is primitive, raw and totally awesome! WARNING! This is truly scorching hardcore punk! So for your maximum listening pleasure, play this slab as loud as possible!" Limited to 300 copies and I guess, all already sold. Good news at the end, Hans and Patrick founded a new band called Ford’s Fuzz Inferno and they recorded some totally awesome, completely fuzzed-up, ultra crushing punk goodies and a new record Deniers Of Fuzz Will Be Executed EP was made and is available from June 30th via their bandcamp site. Enough with words, let the music into your house and let it rip at full volume and several times in a row.

ABSOLUT - Togo Pogo 7'' 1981

Megarare and only 7Inch by this short-lived three piece called Absolut from Bremen and they released this little goodie as an In-house production and the band consisted of Oliver (vocals/drums), Kay (guitar/vocals), Andreas (keys/vocals). Two catchy mid-tempo pieces with a nice accompaniment of the keyboard and a subtle NDW touch is not entirely absurd, but more a punky sound. If you are planning an Eighties party and choose songs from this period, this record should not be missing, because then the party really moves forward, this slab is anything but a flop. Otherwise there's not much to report about the band or other activities, and no compilation visits are known, hence their legacy now for you. Cool Stuff!

YEARS - Come Dancing EP 1979

This rare single on Tuff Going Music is a superb one and Years from Manchester didn't exist long and consisted of David (vocals/guitar), Reg (bass), Christopher (drums/vocals) and experts among you will already guess why that was so. David & Reg became members of the grandiose Chameleons whose albums I worship. Three pieces that already indicate the phenomenal potential of the two charismatic musicians, which they underline with the songs by the Chameleons with their enchanting melodies, and made them to a great band, wrongly stamped by the fucking media. Also a great live band and I had the pleasure to see them on tour here in Frankfurt and Brighton, a real highlight in my concert chronicle! For those who don't know the Chameleons, I can only recommend that you change this immediately and buy their records, no matter what they cost.

THIS SPORTING LIFE - In Limbo 12'' 1983

Today one more rare filet from the wanted list, and I think it's the last of it for now, and I am grateful to my friends for searching, finding and sending. ❤ Final release by This Sporting Life, a four piece from Auckland and I promise, just as fantastic as their Show Me To The Bellrope album. A small excerpt: When In Limbo arrived in early 1984, having been lost for over a year amid the clutter of Chris Knox’s living room, it sported four new songs and received indifferent reviews. “The four songs here range from spritely & cheeky (‘Difference’) to hackneyed (‘Too Proud’), but it couldn’t be described as inspired.” This Sporting Life was happy with the recording, which was a conscious attempt to make the sound “poppier.” I like the band and their catchy music and I can only recommend you to listen carefully here, it's every note worth. In July 2018 Failsafe Records issued a compilation of the band's work.

THE OUTSIDERS - s/t 12'' 1981

There are records that deserve re-posting and today is a good day to do this and it's a new fresh rip. Originally posted in December 2011 by the Girls From Tahiti blog, unfortunately only available as an archive today, but always worth a visit. We're talkin' about the Outsiders, better known as UtangarĂ°smenn from ReykjavĂk and they also released this 12inch in their Icelandic language as 45Rpm on Steinar, one year after their debut album Geislavirkir. Six songs can be found here, all of which shine with catchy melodies, especially 'Where Are The Bodies' is a classic with a slow pace that you can't escape from. This is not really a punk record but my taste. There are few punk bands from the volcanic island, but most of them played decent music and their records are hard to get. Well, what else can I say? A very good record with pleasant sharpness and creative power from a short-lived combo who split up much too early in 1981, but honored on numerous compilations - and now... breakfast!

DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN - Doris Ist In Der Gang EP 1986

Punkrock with humorous, sometimes nasty, schlager-like lyrics are the trademarks of Die Goldenen Zitronen from Hamburg, and their motivation and ideals come in the heavily politicized Hamburg of the 1980s. Founded in 1984, the Zitronen are delighted to immerse themselves in the counterculture of the squatter scene in Hafenstrasse. At the same time, they plunge headlong into the no longer entirely new, but also by no means dead world of punk rock. And they prove this very well with their first records. Doris is, I think, their first single, that was pressed on their own Zitronenterror label, with four fantastic, sometimes funny numbers, which usher in the long Whitsun weekend with an atmospheric way. Don't miss their debut album Porsche, Genscher, Hallo HSV to come into the right holiday mood. I still have some housework to do before I go to a cure for a week, but don't worry, I continue with more stuff that is worth listening to.

V/A - Systeemi Ei Toimi EP 1982

Energetic, primitive and classic Finnish Hardcore/Punk compilation by the Tuotanto label with three combos, and in advance a short review: "Laahaus and Kaaos have four songs each that shred to the max. Really rad. Vapaa Pääsy, on the other hand, pale in comparison due to their wimpier sound", Tim Yohannan (MRR #3 • Nov/Dec 1982) Well, I like the record, because it does exactly what I expect; fast aggressive songs with pissed off singers who scream out the lyrics angrily. The typical sound that was created by many Finnish bands in the early eighties and still vibrates brilliantly today. Of the three, only Kaaos released a few albums, while the others only made it on compilations. 300 copies of the original EP were pressed, re-released 1990 and 2012. Massive and explosive mixture! đź‘Ť

1.Keskiluokan Painajainen - LAAHAUS
2.Mun Elämä - LAAHAUS
3.Kusipäät - LAAHAUS
4.Kohta Aikuinen - LAAHAUS
5.Sota On Tulossa - KAAOS
6.Alistettu - KAAOS
7.Isänmaalliset - KAAOS
8.Systeemi Tappaa - KAAOS
9.Paskaluokka - VAPAA PĂ„Ă„SY
10.Vapaus - VAPAA PĂ„Ă„SY
11.Ei Enää - VAPAA PÄÄSY
12.Ei Oo Enää Aikaa - VAPAA PÄÄSY

MAGNUM BONUM - Marie 7'' 1979

Now a XY unsolved slice by Magnum Bonum, formed early 1977 by five young boys aged 17-19 in Huddinge (near Stockholm); Lars Liström (vocals), Mats Hedström (guitar/vocals), Per Schiller (guitar), Anders (bass) & Kim Lindholm (drums). Their ambition was to make a record. The record companies were uninterested. In the end, the guys decided to pay for a record themselves with equity. Money was borrowed and studio time was booked in OAL Studios in Sollentuna. It became a single that was printed in up to 500 copies. The five scoring several chart successes in their country during the 1970s and 80's, their smash hit was "Skateboard", a cover of "LA Run", original recorded by the Carvells in 1977 and they reached out to the large audience. The song became a national that sold over 35.000 copies (Respect!). At the same time, they started recording the first album (it was urgent to release a record) called Crazy Feelings on Mercury. In 1980 Sjöberg was replaced by Tommy Erblom (bass). The boys had barely started working so the step to a professional music career was not far. The band was able to stop hunting gigs themselves at youth centers or schools. They got many chart hits over the years and in total, about ten singles and five entire albums were released. In the years 1978-1984, Magnum Bonum was a very popular live group and one of the groups that toured most frequently in Sweden and broke audience records during this time despite from all established and new artists/groups. Lead singer Lars tragically died in 1983 and the group disbanded one year later. Magnum Bonum was touring during the 90's together with Factory & Attack and more albums came out, the last Skott FrĂĄn Gevär in 2013. Ferddisch. Much words for a rather average record!

URBAN DOGS - New Barbarians EP 1982

Time for classic stuff, still fresh and catchy as forty years ago. We're talking about Urban Dogs from London, a collaboration between Charlie Harper (UK Subs) and Knox (The Vibrators) plus Alvin (bass) and Matthew (drums). In 1982 both bands found themselves at a loose end after some lengthy touring. Old friends Charlie and Knox got together and started making some music they shared a common love for. Along with a cover of the New York Dolls and Iggy & The Stooges, they added their own compositions that fitted. A couple of great songs emerged and already their debut EP, released on Fallout Records, is a superb three track GassenhauerFive albums have been released to date and I guess that wasn't all.

VERDUN - Notre Combat EP 1987

First all re-ups are done and now to today's slab. Second EP by Verdun from Rouen on New Wave Records with four solid mid tempo anarcho-punk smasher and still with the crazy female vocals, but the music is getting more tight compared to the previous Smash The H-Blocks 12''. More political lyrics about the Apartheid and the carceral system. Founded 1981 by Eva (vocals), Jean-Luc (guitars), Karl 9000 (bass), Kurt (drums). They released two albums and two 7Inches before they finally disbanded in 1992. Any amount of compilation contributions are also be posted, some in the Blog I think, but I'm not sure.
