XTRAVERTS - So Much Hate 1997

OK, no rib broken just a bruise but it hurts with every movement. I mentioned it briefly yesterday, a fall with the bike and a wasp sting on the back neck.....yes, yesterday was a nice day. Let's get to the following slab and I'll quote words from Bin Liner: "The most famous punk band of all has to be the Sex Pistols - but if your home was in the High Wycombe area you'll know that there was one other band that were just as good - Xtraverts from Buckinghamshire!! Back in 1977 the entire World was overcome with safety pin wearing, Mohican sporting Punk Rockers. Xtravert by name and oh boy - Xtravert by nature. Eventually splitting in the early 80s after their lead singer went to prison, they left behind them a torrent of local graffiti, a following that were lost without their local heroes and a complete unreleased LP, their finest moment, left to gather dust -disgraceful. That long lost album is now finally here, complete with free souvenir bin liner bag to the first 500 people who bought the vinyl album. On April 4th 1997 the band got together for the first time in almost twenty years - much had changed - the bass player is now female and other band members sport backgrounds such as ABH charges, appearances on stars in their eyes (Billy Idol) and membership of Matt Bianco - the sound however, was still there though and the crowd loved it!" Now on to the announced vinyl rip I wanted to do this week, enjoy the music!

REPETITION - The Still Reflex 7'' 1981

Now an older rip and I can't remember where and when exactly bought this 7Inch but is worth listening. Repetition were a Post-Punk band from London, which formed in August 1979. The band's initial line-up was ex SpizzOil guitarist Pete Petrol, Xtraverts drummer Tim Transe, keyboard player A.S.D.H. (Andy Hooper), bassist AWOL (Nicholas), and vocalist Sarah Osbourne. The band were signed to Les Disques Du Crépuscule after gaining the interest of Annik Honore in 1979. Their first single A Still Reflex'/Fade Out was released in January 1981 and was recorded at Spaceward Studios in Saffron Waldon and notably produced by Joy Division manager, Rob Gretton. Owing to the connection with Brussels based Les Disques Du Crepuscule the band toured in Belgium and Holland in 1980 playing at Plan K in Brussels and the Effenaar in Eindhoven and appeared on Generation 80 TV show. The band were managed by Mick Scholefield who later went on to start Heist Or Hit Records. Steve Musham joined the band during this period, playing bass initially, and then replacing Osbourne on vocals on the next single,'A Full Rotation', recorded at Berry Street Studios in London, in 1980. The band recorded a John Peel session at Maida Vale studios on 08/08/1981. The session of four tracks was recorded with a line-up of vocalist/guitarist Steve Musham, ex Spizzenergi bassist/guitarist Jim Solar, Tim Transe (drums) & Andy Hooper (keyboards).

On 13 July Repetition, Marine, Eric Random, Richard Jobson & The Swamp Children performed during a Crepuscule Night at Heaven in London. The event was covered in NME and a cassette souvernir Rendez-Vous Au Paradis was announced but did not appear. Sexy 7Inch to calm down.

V/A - Break The Rules #8 1997

One more fuckin' awesome punk compilation with old farts now. Splitting from his partnership with Incognito Records, Peter P., who compiled the Back To Front compilations, started his own label, Insekten Records, to put out his new series, Break the Rules. The series picks up where Back To Front left off (with #7). This, like the others, is s greaat mix of early rough-edged punk as well as punk with a poppier edge. And like his other comps here is Volume #9), he's have the permission from the bands to use these songs. Like the KBD or Bloodstains series: this LP is a killer! Get it yet and good Morning!
