V/A - Geschichten Aus Der Zwischenzeit 1999

Gude Morsche liebe Gemeinde and welcome on this wonderful sunny day off. I start postin' today with musical delicacy from the land of poets and thinkers. Romantic, melancholic masterpieces of literature, painting, art and of course music were here created. And that we can still do such nuggets is demonstrated by this splendid compilation, the first release from the Sturmhöhe label, and there are seventeen of them. The Créme De La Créme of gloomy bands has gathered to set real feelings to music, to reflect on yourself, to allow dark times and still enjoy life. Most of them are exclusive tracks to my knowledge and unfortunately not released as vinyl. Nun denn, enjoy the music, also suitable for non-German speakers and search for more slabs from the bands in the blog.

VERBRANNTE ERDE - Chrrr!!! 1998

Out of the ruins of the D-Punk combo Deutschlands Erben formed Ingo (vocals), Mischa (guitars), Eddi (bass), Jens (drums) in 1995 Verbrannte Erde and the four move in the dark, melancholic punkrock area which became typical of the band. Their style can best be compared with that of L.S.K., Serene Fall and EA80, with whom the band has played numerous gigs. In 1996 the first tape, Traurig Aber Wahr, was released, followed by their first EP a year later and up to date, they released four Longplayers, two EPs plus a live split album. As already mentioned, the four prefer largely dark minor sounds with personal & thoughtful words that I like very much and partly reflect my inner being, but why I only have this one album is quickly explained. The singing bothers me a little and doesn't captivate me as much as with the other bands. And for me, the voice has to fit just as well as the music, I'm demanding in all things. For the first album, very good and enjoyable!

OHL - Verbrannte Erde 1983

Fourth album by Leverkusen's finest Punk combo OHL, released via Rock-O-Rama and in the typical sound of the responsible whose name is unimportant. Verbrannte Erde is the last record where the gentlemen fourteen hearty excellent hardcore/punk songs recorded: crude, fast and with a brilliant milling, sawing guitar, before they changed their sound into a darker and tranquil direction (but gothic-rock I would not call it). Lyrically still influenced by the cold war but I think the basic structure is clear. A German punk classic in every case and in 2006 appeared a reissue by Teenage Rebel Records.

WISHMOPPER - 9mm Vor Dem Abgrund 1997

I'm back again, dear friends, and I hope you had a great time and what I did will follow shortly. But let me tell you, I'm not amused to be back home and I could leave again in a heartbeat. Well, I continue with a completely underrated four-piece that formed in Braunschweig in the early Nineties and Wishmopper consisted of Hoschi (vocals), Dagwood (guitar), Claus (bass), Ravi (drums) and this is their only album on Harmony Records which came in green vinyl in an edition of 500 copies and the cover here is from the CD version, but this the vinyl rip which unfortunately my old record player only played with a few jumpers. Normally I wouldn't offer such a shitty one and the scratches are annoying and extremely hinder the listening pleasure, but that's the way it is, and this record deserves attention. Musically, melodic, dark, catchy songs with a slightly metallic touch with hearty lyrics (without any I hate Cops or drinking beer attitudes, so there's a certain appeal in putting this record out a second time), usually over three minutes long, but in this case that doesn't hurt. In 1995 they released their first tape 1000 Eyes (Live) plus a 7Inch, and five years later another split EP with Verbrannte Erde, and a few Compilation appearances and then it was over. Wishmopper is solid Punkrock with a strong statement!

OHL - Oktoberrevolution 12'' 1983

Exhausted, dull & with a cold I sit here with a delicious tea and wonder why the purchase and sale of OHL records is locked at discogs, does anyone know? I think that is a bit exaggerating and can't understand this. Anyway, this is the 3rd 12 inch slab and its a mini-album with eight smasher and was released in two different versions, mine is as you can see on the cover, the second one. From this album the band spoke in songs such as Russen In Afghanistan and Roter Terror against the real socialism and stressed on the back of the record that after the debate against old and new nazis, also against the extreme left is necessary. Since then, the band has repeatedly distanced itself from left-wing as well as right-wing political extremism and religious fanaticism. Ultimately, the music is crucial and everyone who has a bit of sense will know if he likes it or not. Don't miss Verbrannte Erde and more stuff.... and now back to bed and cure myself, Amen!
