Another old rip is this little Oi! nugget by a band, that decisively shaped this genre, among others: Oi Polloi from Edinburgh and this record featured Alfie & Julia (vocals), Brian (guitar), Bobby (bass), Murry (drums). The band is the epitome of hard, fast but also dark, sometimes monotonous Anarcho-Punk. Hardly any other Punk combo deals with politics as intensively as Oi Polloi and their music is packed with aggression and anger, which is reflected in their lyrics against nazis, capitalism and injustice. Four solid streetpunk anthems with a clear message, the band live what they shout out loud, perfect sound for headaches. See you tonight 🎸

OI POLLOI - Unite & Win! 1987

Fantastic record on Oi! Records opens today the musical enjoyment and so you know when, where and why a bit info, not written by me: Oi Polloi are punx from Edinburgh that formed around 1981. Starting as an Oi! band, they are now generally more associated with the anarcho-punk genre. The band has become notable for their contributions to the Scottish Gaelic punk subgenre. The name probably comes from the Greek expression "Οι πολλοί" and it is a pun on the phrase hoi polloi meaning "the masses" or "the common people". The band has gone through about 50 members since their formation, and their only permanent member has been vocalist Deek, who has also been involved in Gaelic-language television. The band has included punks and skinheads. The members have been supporters of Anti-Fascist Action and Earth First!, and they use the motto "No Compromise in Defence of Our Earth," which is an adaptation of Earth First!'s motto. Solid compilation on Cult Records, 1000 copies with no American bands. A final worthy contribution to Christmas 2015. Strictly speaking I wanted nothing to post on these holidays but the music is very good, the record rare and it's freshly arrived and today is the last holiday therefore it's okay. Tonight the hardcore legends from Raw Power visit Hanau and maybe I'm going there. So far so good, enjoy the rest of the evening and have yourself a drink!

V/A - Rot In Hell 1984

Ei Di Weil, let's stay in an enjoyable mood and come to a compilation from my favorite British label Rot Records. In its short-lived tenure, they've released amazing records, including half a dozen compis, and to date none have disappointed me. On the one hand, this is due to bands that sent their demos there and can the songs therefore only be found there, and on the other hand to the unknown status of them. This healthy combination is daring and far from geared towards sales, also limited, I guess 1000 copies were pressed. Even Step-1 Music liked this stuff and re-released it on CD in 1996. A record deal then jumped out for some bands and became better known a little beyond their latitude. Rot In Hell is full with splendid music, as it should be for a little D.I.Y. label and you will like it.

V/A - Rejected Volume III 2002

I'm doing always heavy with newfangled punk rock and the most flies fast into the garbage but this compilation is a fine compilation of old and newer material from various UK and Irish bands that Rejected has put out over the years. I like more the dirty shredded sound and dislike the clean productions of the new breath and here I am positive surprised because all the songs kick fantastic and are very powerful at all, garnished with a few live goodies and unreleased recordings to that, and when I have this feeling by the first listen so I can't be wrong (mostly). Less than 25% are known to me (Oi Polloi, Leatherface, Jesse, Zero Tolerance) and I know if my friend from Austria share his stuff with me it can be only cool. As lousy reviewer everything is said. Pick up or drink milk.

V/A - On The Street 1984

This awesome and rare compilaton was released by Sane Records and they give out one of the best UK Punk records ever (I mean it). This album features eighteen nuggets by British punk bands in their original demo form taken from the bands studio-recorded master tapes: "The idea behind Sane Records is to give "undiscovered" bands a chance to be "on disc" so that their music can be heard by people who wouldn't normally hear it, also all of us." Brilliant attitude and I wish more non-profit labels would do the same. The song selection is quite fantastic and the rough and dirty sound kicks in every way. I think there were not much copies pressed so catch one when you have the chance. Essential stuff!!!!

The cover alone is worth buying this cute Compilation on Manic Ears Records & Children Of The Revolution Records and gives a brilliant impression of the slab's musical quality. Refreshing mixture of Hardcore/Punk with relevant bands that didn't have to be asked twice to be part of Digging In Water. And it's not uncontrolled thrashing, rather amazingly solid heavy melodic stuff by seventeen bands that can do that. "This album does a perfect job of summing up a scene, and is a collection of the hottest UK Hardcore bands..." Enough for today, enjoy the weekend and soon the ball will be rolling again.
