THE RAVES - Damned Money 7'' 1981

The Raves were a Belgian five piece from Roeselare and consisted of Jacques (vocals), Patrick & Gilbert (guitars), Alain (bass), Patrick (drums). This is their only piece with two dynamic and catchy cocktails. Their music combines elements of rock, pop and indie, which has earned them a little fan base. It looks at first glance like a shabby hippie rock record but I have to say, this bloody sucker (200 copies exist) is an outstanding example of the versatility style of the five and the title song addresses the negative effects of money and materialism on life and interpersonal relationships (I'm feeling this very strongly at the moment because a dear friend is closing off her emotional world in favor of the material world and possibly becoming blunted, sad sad story). - With powerful riffs and a catchy chorus, the slab has quickly gained popularity and shows the band's musical ability and creative energy. The Raves have made a strong statement and invite their listeners to think about the influence of damn money on dear friends or society. The flip has a superb half Reggae companion. INTESTINES - Life In A Cardboard Box EP 1980

Formed in 1978 in Bournemouth by Harry (vocals), John (guitar), Sid (bass), Rob (drums) and they were the first Punk combo in this City and this is their classic EP on Alternative Capitalists. The band is known for their simple, amateurish sound that combines the aggressive energy of punk with a certain melodiousness. The four were part of the first wave of Punk in the UK and made a name for themselves through their energetic live performances and provocative lyrics. A few members played after the break in 1981 (reformed 2008) later in Butcher. The band's lyrics often addressed everyday life, social injustices and the frustrations of youth. They were part of the classic D.I.Y. ethic and often released their music independently. The Life In A Cardboard Box EP from 1980 is a striking example of the raw and unpolished sound of the British Punk of the time. The EP contains three tracks that reflect the essence of the Punk movement while highlighting the band's unique characteristics. Fantastic KBD record which the band captures both the anger and despair of the youth of the time with their haunting lyrics. The Intestines were certainly not the most famous band of their time, but their music leaves a lasting impression and shows how diverse and expressive Punkrock can be.

GAUZE - Fuck Heads 1985

Absolutely essential Japanese Hardcore goodie by this four piece, founded autumn 1981 and members are Fugu (vocals), Momorin (guitars), Shin (bass) & Hiko (drums). Having released five albums as well as appearing on numerous Compilations since their formation, the band has had a major impact on the Japanese HardcorePunk scene. According to Gauze's bassist, Shin, their initial goal was to play as fast as possible. They attempted to give the impression of playing fast without actually playing fast. The first Gauze recordings are the tracks from the 1982 City Rocker Compilation, which featured ten of their songs. Their debut album, Fuck Heads, was released June 1985. Shortly after, they recorded Equalizing Distort, which was released in March 1986. They released the Genkai Wa Doko Da ("What’s the Limit?") LP in 1989, and in 1991 they played a 10th anniversary gig, where they played three sets covering the three periods they had gone through in the previous ten years. They played 51 songs over these three sets. In 1996, they began a US tour, though it lasted just three shows - a fourth was scheduled, but was cancelled. They played at Gilman St. in Berkeley, at the Bomb Shelter in Minneapolis and in Chicago at the Fireside Bowl. They also recorded songs for a 7" that came out on Prank a little after this, while they were in San Francisco. As of 2006, Gauze performed a live version of every album they recorded. They used older instruments to replicate the sounds from previous albums. In 2019 they have started touring Japan again and finally the band dissolved in November 2022. (Info: wiki) "The first album by Gauze from Tokyo which they released forty years ago and this bloody sucker is a milestone. It isn’t just the particular ferocity that Gauze has been sonically assaulting us with for nearly forty years. It’s not just the speed. It’s not how ahead of its time their music was back in ’86 when they unleashed Equalizing Distort on our unsuspecting ears. It’s not just how innovative and weird Gauze’s sporadic releases continue to be. It’s not just the razor sharp precision with which the songs are played. Here’s Gauze, in the future, still playing with all the passion, precision and seething contempt a lot of bands made up of people half their age couldn’t muster, still ahead of their time." DISGUSTEENS - Nothing Personal EP 1998

The Disgusteens are a Canadian punk band that was formed in Vancouver in the early 1990s and consisted of Kelly (vocals), Jeff (guitars), Tyler (bass), Mark (drums). Unfortunately, Nothing Personal is their only EP on Longshot Music/DSS Records. Six energetic, aggressive power iffs with driving rhythms and provocative lyrics that often address socially critical topics make this little grab bag a hearty listening pleasure. The four have made a name for themselves in the Canadian punk scene and are known for their rousing live performances, their sound reflects the spirit of D.I.Y. culture, and they have developed a loyal fan base that appreciates their rebellious attitude and distinctive style. Their lyrics are often direct and unvarnished, making them an authentic voice within the punk movement. Overall, the Disgusteens are an important part of Canadian punk history and contribute to the diversity and creativity of the scene. If you are looking for powerful, pure hardcore sound, you should definitely listen to their music! Came in an edition of 1000 copies. They appeared on the 1998 Cock Sparrer: A Tribute To Our Favorite Droogies EP Compilation, where they contributed 'I Got Your Number'.
Strong record, don't miss it!

TURBOSTAAT - Der Weiche Kern 7'' 2023

Turbostaat are currently on a small tour through Germany and are always happy to be guests in my house and since their ninth album will be released in January, here is a small, subtle preview of their latest 7Inch which was available exclusively in a bundle together with a tour ticket, a metal pin, a printed hard ticket of the venue and a tote bag. "Der Weiche Kern" is a cover version of the Gravenhurst song 'The Velvet Cell' and the lyrics talk about the protagonist's desire to understand murderers, which he feels he can only do by becoming one himself. He mentions that he doesn't actually like violence, but after tasting hate, he wants more. The song also highlights how there's a soft and vulnerable side to all people, and that this soft core is where the desire to kill may lurk, waiting for a trigger. - The five have long found inspiration in Gravenhurst's folk hymns: "We can't put our finger on exactly why we covered it. We've always been really enthusiastic about them. The mood and the harmonies, the sadness, the unassuming but determined nature. It felt like a part of us," says the band. After the release of this exclusive fucker follows a small Germany tour, meaning Turbostaat will be back on stage for the first time since a band member suffered a heart attack and subsequent emergency surgery and it wasn't clear whether the band would continue. The 7Inch was only available at the gigs in a limited edition. The flip has with 'Otto Muss Fallen' another rare goodie which was first brought on the Rare Tracks 2022 Compilation.

Court Martial is a four-piece from Bristol and was formed in 1980 by Alex (vocals), Simon (guitars), Rich (bass) and Ian (drums) and this is their second EP on Riot City Records with three powerful goodies and captivates listeners for their unique mix of Punk, Hardcore and melodic elements, the band once again shows their talent for creating emotional and energetic music on this record. It starts with "No Solution", which immediately kicks in with a driving drum and aggressive guitar riffs. The singer's voice is full of passion and conveys a sense of urgency that runs through the entire EP. The lyrics are both personal and socially critical and thought-provoking, encouraging listeners to engage with the issues covered. Further with "Lost in the Noise", a piece that convinces with its catchy melodies and a powerful chorus. The combination of melodic passages and hard, fast sections shows the band's craftsmanship and their ability to combine different styles. The production of the EP is clear and precise, which underlines the band's intense sound. The mixture of raw energy and musical sophistication makes the this slab an experience worth listening to. RESISTORS - Force Of Habit 7'' 1991

Long off the wanted list and now available: the second 7Inch by the Resistors, released via WeBite Records. "Force Of Habit" starts with powerful guitar riffs and energetic vocals that are immediately catchy and exude pure power. The song grabs you from the first second and kicks every fucking lame ass. The flip "Ride To Get You" follows seamlessly and brings a slightly calmer, more melodic note into play without losing any of its intensity. The driving drum playing plus the catchy chorus make the song a real insider tip. Overall, the guys are extremely versatile and you can't deny the fact that they are talented. A perfect mix of Punk and Rock that sounds cool, and not everyone can do.... and thus I disappear from the stage.

UHF - Cavalos De Corrida 7'' 1980

The second 7Inch from my favorite Portuguese band UHF is a real gem that stands out for its catchy melody and rhythmic structure. UHF, a band that is well-known in the Portuguese scene today, placed a special focus on melodic mid-tempo sound, which is excellently implemented in the title track, a real earworm and still my favorite song. Dynamic with passionate energy and intensity, both songs spray positive vibes into your broken brain. This record is an absolute highlight for anyone looking for a thrilling experience. From the very first second, it captivates listeners and invites them to dance. The powerful beats and dynamic rhythm are a powerful combination that clearly demonstrate UHF's creative talent. They know how to combine different musical styles into a harmonious work that invites you to sing along and dance. The lyrics are inspiring and perfectly capture the feeling of freedom and adventure, making the single an ideal companion for any party or a relaxed evening. The production is particularly noteworthy, as it is clear and powerful and brings out every nuance of the music. The instrumentation is varied and ensures that the tracks never get boring. You can tell that a lot of heart and soul went into the creation of this single. Overall an absolute must for every. It not only promises an entertaining listening experience, but also an invitation to leave the worries of everyday life behind, a great slab that should be on every playlist!

All re-upp requests are done and now it's time for something new: The 2024 split EP between legendary bands Descendents & Circle Jerks is an exciting musical event that will make the hearts of yours beating faster. The slab consists five songs and the Descendents open with their typical melodic sound that is immediately catchy. Their first track shows the characteristic mix of catchy melodies and powerful guitar riffs as we know it. Fast, aggressive that perfectly captures the band's dynamic.

The Circle Jerks counter with their rougher, more boisterous style. Keith Morris's distinctive voice and driving instrumentation ensure that the song immediately invites you to sing along. This killer is a must-have for any Punkrocker and I was really surprised about this goodie, I only came across it by chance, which combines two of the genre's most influential combos and offers a perfect blend of energy and social relevance. LARD - Pure Chewing Satisfaction 1997

We're soon in Leverkusen, but first a short trip across the Atlantic where we'll get a taste of Lard's second and final album Pure Chewing Satisfaction and like its predecessor, its an outstanding record that remarkably captures the essence of powerful and innovative music. Even at first listen, it is clear that these are true masters of their craft who know how to implement their musical vision with precision and passion. The production of the album is excellent and every instrument shine in all its glory. The guitars are concise and haunting, the bass is powerful and deep, and the drums drive the songs forward with impressive energy and precision. Each track is perfectly mixed so that the soundscape remains clear and dynamic. A special highlight of this fucking slab is the versatility of the songs. Lard demonstrates an impressive range of musical styles and influences here. Whether aggressive, fast tracks or melodic, atmospheric pieces - each song has its own character and yet fits seamlessly into the overall picture of the album. The lyrics are profound and invite the listener to engage more deeply with the content. They offer a mixture of social commentary and personal reflections that make you think. Jello's expressive voice gives the songs additional depth and authenticity, which further enhances the emotional content of the music. Overall, Pure Chewing Satisfaction is a record that should not be missing from any music collection. It offers first-class dynamic sound and a thrilling listening experience that stays in the memory for a long time. A clear recommendation for anyone looking for high-quality and varied music.
Fucking Great Stuff!
