Now we come to music extreme and such records exist only a few. Protes
Bengt started 1985 and was a blast off hardcore project by Åke (guitars) from Mob 47 and Per (vocals) from
Filthy Christians, Ola (bass) & Chrille (drums). The band was
mainly formed to
break some guys who did a tape with loads of songs. Protes Bengt never rehearsed
but made two recordings. The first recording contains 74 "songs" of
which thirty-two were
released as the In Bengt We Trust EP on Röj Records. Most of the lyrics are really stupid but
some have serious contents. The second recording was a twelve track demo called Bengt E Sänkt,
the style had change to more one beat hardcore like Heresy, D.R.I. or Lärm. If you
haven’t heard this band before and if you’re into Mob 47, Anti-Cimex or Shitlickers
you’re probably going to die in a few seconds, they just fucked shit up with
this one! Crazy, over the top euro thrash, just a millisecond before others
combinded this with Replusion and others. A bit of collector trivia: 1000 copies were made and when the band ordered a
second press, the pressing plant mixed up the plates and pressed 1000 more of
the Mob 47 EP.
They kept them, made new sleeves and sold them. Represses of this came with
different sleeves. And yes, the demo that followed after this blows it to pieces. It’s
incredible!!! This dittie has thirty-two tracks... so let's smash a window!

FLESH EATERS - Disintegration Nation EP 1978
Fantastic four track killer debut EP on Upsetter Records by the Flesh Eaters and da geht die Luzie ab. A bit info from discogs: "Arising from a punkrock party scene that exploded in the wasted midst of Hollywood tinsel and trash, the Flesh Eaters first mutated into a punk-fueled "roots rock voodoo blues" group (marked by the masterful "A Minute to Pray, A Second To Die" album and a classic line-up of LA scene heavies) and later into a "speed metal esoterrorica" four-piece who throttled American Hardcore with their mix of amped-up guitar hellfire and rough-hewn Jagger/Richards blues. Singer and band constant Chris D. (Desjardins) was able to sprout new heads for his band every couple of years while keeping a supremely intense, performance-as-catharsis ethos very much alive, and always charting fertile new musical ground. Live, Chris D. would shriek like he was conducting the last performance before Satan’s bloody rapture, and as if he just might be taking the audience down with him. The rock pundits of the day thus brought forth much enthusiasm, enthusiasm now all but buried in the yellowing copies of local fanzines. Formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1983, when Chris D. started a new project, Divine Horsemen; reformed around 1990 and active till 2003-2004."
In February 2006, it was announced that the original Flesh Eaters would perform several live shows, including three shows in California and one in England. In 2019 they released I Used To Be Pretty on Yep Roc Records. Tim Hinely of Dagger says "this record sounds like a natural successor to A Minute To Pray even though it was recorded nearly forty years later." On several of the tracks appearing on earlier records, he says "don't let [it] throw you off, as the band really does breathe new life into the songs that were very much alive to begin with.

EVEN WORSE - We Suck! The Lost 1982 Album 2016
Now a slab where I have again to say: Thank You! to the makers who have re-released this delicious music again. Was only available as lame CD under the title You've Ruined Everything 2002 and I wanna quote this nugget with words of the detectives: "One of the best kept secrets of the early pre-NYHC scene, along with Bad Brains, Beastie Boys, Heart Attack, Undead, Kraut, etc., the never-on-vinyl-before lost album by Even Worse, featuring "Big Takeover" magazine editor Jack Rabid (and previously Beastie Boys' founder John Berry, and eventually Noise the Show host/Hugo Largo's Timmy Sommer, and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore's only punk rock band in a later incarnation), with their classic "New York Thrash" compilation lineup recorded at the famous 171A studio, co-produced by Bad Brains, with additional live tracks from New York's legendary Max's Kansas City Club from August 1981. Limited to 500 copies on 180 gram vinyl plus a revealing insert. (Radiation/ 2016)" - A twenty-two course menu that guaranteed fill you up and maybe, if there's enough space, a little piece of mint afterwards. Colossal Stuff!!

THE MOONDOGS - Who's Gonna Tell Mary? 7'' 1980
No idea who sent me the following record but one thing is sure, very good idea: The Moondogs were a Northern Irish rock band and formed 1978 in Derry and consisting of Gerry (vocals/guitars), Jackie (bass), Austin (drums). Three months later they had their first gig, together with the Undertones, also from Derry. It was followed by other appearances in Derry, before they accompanied some gigs of the Undertones in England. In November '79 they released their first single She's 19 on the Good Vibrations. The following year they toured with the Pretenders, supported Police and the Tom Robinson Band, among others, and were back on the road with the Undertones. In October '80 their second single Who's Gonna Tell Mary? was released on Real Records. They recorded two more singles before producing their first album That's What Friends Are For in New York in May 1981. Half a year later the band broke up. Welcome guests on rare compilations and that's no wonder with their appealing mid-tempo sound which this 7Inch clearly proves.

V/A - Suomi-Ilmiö 1981
Now a rather unknown compilation that saw the light of day on Polarvox as cassette and vinyl in the early eighties and what do we discover? A decent mix of sixteen Finnish bands, whose spectrum ranges from punk, rock, new wave & powerpop and transports really good vibrations for my taste, including some classics from well-known bands such as Hassisen Kone, Ratsia or Vaavi and other likeable contemporaries (a little side note, song #13 from the Lizards is missing, I don't know how and where I lost it, if someone has it please send). As is "usual" with some Finnish samplers, apart from the relevant Punk/Hardcore records, I'm almost always convinced by the flexibility and mix of the different music styles which make such records mostly interesting for me and of course, the shot can backfire and the whole thing is a disaster, but not here. This slab is fun and relaxes your body like an escaping fart. Unfortunately no booklet, lyric sheet or other information attached, just a few details on the back cover but with an eye-catcher frontgirl (Yeah, a sexy pearl). That's it for today, enjoy the music and the sun!

V/A - Dos Becos Das Favelas Do Terceiro Mundo 1999
Puhhh, what a fucking start yesterday into the weekend and I'm total knocked out, really have trouble sitting at the computer and trying to make you tasty for this little Brazilian D.I.Y. hardcore compilation with four bands, whose recordings are few and partly only on this slab, released via Hard Caos/Crepúsculo Records. I guess, you can imagine what you can expect on this record and I say only "Bash Bash... Bosh... Bang Bang", sufficient and short reviewed. Comes with a lyric sheet, unfortunately not within. Back to bed, to be fit for the soccer match later. Adios!

BAD BRAINS - I Against I 1986
Weekend, Yeah and let's fetz with classic Washington Punkrock by the Bad Brains and I Against I is their third album through SST Records and the best-selling record in the band's catalog. After the first of their countless breakups, the Bad Brains reconvened in 1986 to record this, their undeniable masterwork. Fusing dub reggae and funk rhythms into the mix, and slowing the tempo down enough to appeal to hardcore's emergent metal crossover audience, the Bad Brains created one of the most powerful collections the '80s produced in any genre. On "I Against I" and "House Of Suffering," the quartet suffuses traditional Jamaican spiritualism with modern urban concerns, while the soaring "Sacred Love" is guaranteed to send shivers down the spine of anyone with any soul whatsoever. An essential release.

PROFIL - Berühren 12'' 1981
A trip to the NDW days with a band called Profil, founded by Heinz (vocals), Lüdtke (guitars), P.M. (keys), Weide (bass), B.Hartmann (drums) and their well-known 'Berühren' is a extremely driving song, which has become a cult hit in the electro and wave scene, and remains a highlight of every NDW party. The maxi version, released on the Weltrekord label, can only be bought at a high price as the original, has meanwhile been re-released on numerous compilations. Two more singles and an album followed, but somehow the air was out and the band couldn't build on the debut. The album, which ranges from fast, danceable numbers to thoughtful-melancholy songs, can only confirm the versatility of the five and in contrast to many other records that were released at this time, is anything but an embarrassing LP. With both hits released so far and other excellent electronic pearls, it can certainly be described as a German poprock milestone and more than lives up to the seal of approval of a Weltrekord slab. With the last 7Inch in 1983 they say goodbye to the already declining NDW scene.

NEWS - Dirty Lies 7'' 1978
Modest little 7inch from Down Under now: Formed in Melbourne by Gavin (vocals), Jaryl (guitars), Joy (bass) and John (drums) as Babeez but quickly changed into News, they had always been a non-image band, playing in jeans, T-shirts and leather jackets. On their side was a healthy cynicism about punk itself, especially when rock & roll success and fashionable interests encroached on the revolution. This is their first record I think, self-released and most with one-sided lyric insert. The sleeves were hand screened by the band using black and fluoro yellow ink on cheap inner bags with the record inside. Two awesome killer tunes!

LOST LEGION - s/t 7'' 1982
A detour to our neighbors in idyllic Belgium and we meet there the following band and they made this ultra rare 7Inch, unfortunately I must say, because both songs are hotter than hell catchy mid-tempo goodies and belong really to the top floor, and probably because of that were these Brussels Punks often opener for the infamous P.I.G.Z. - Otherwise there is not much info about the three, only the band consisted of Manu (vocals/guitars), Tot (bass), Serge (drums) and compilation tracks barely available. You see, it's not easy to tell more stories about Lost Legion, maybe the members merged into other bands or withdrew to family life, who knows. Fact is, their record is superb and is definitely a re-release worth.
