WANNSKRÆKK - Riff (1980-85) 1992

Punk band from Trondheim, founded in 1979. The band had a precursor in Chloroform and was founded by Per Christian "Persia" Iveland (bass) and Kjartan Kristiansen (guitar). These two put together the group, and got out to Per-Øyvind "Prepple" Houmb (vox) after having tried a different vocalist, Kare "Gisse» Olsen played drums, and Kaare Summer was at first as second guitarist aboard. Wannskrækk had their first gig at Angelltrøa Fritidsklubb in 1979 and in 1981 they recorded their legendary debut EP 'Faen Kuler Treffer Aldri Riktig' followed by the s/t 12'' one year later, two absolute punk blasts which gained a cult following. After years of touring and the very positive reviews in the press over the country the band, however, came to a provisional end. Then in 1988 they released a split album with Liliedugg which contains live songs and the sound goes more into rock style. The Norwegian punk and alternative label Oh No! Records released in 1992 this compilation which contains their first both releases plus a few live tracks.

ANGOR WAT - General Strike 1985

Now a record which I posted in my former Blog many years ago and I must unpacked the slab today because this fucking Monday forced me, to let my vibes out. Angor Wat started in 1981 and went for first six months under the name Dimensjon S. The line-up was Erik (vocals), Asbjørn (guitars), Håvard (bass) and Jens-Petter (drums). Tiller was the only one with previous band experience as bassist in Wannskrækk. The band then also did their debut concert together with Wannskrækk, who at the time were Trondheim's famous combo. In 1983 Viggo also joined on guitar and the following year they released a split cassette with Molde Hardcore's Bannlyst which was then licensed and released in several countries. In 1985 Erik left and Håv took over the vocals while Asbjørn went back to bass. This line-up released their only album General Strike at the English Children Of The Revolution Records and toured Denmark and England in addition to Norway. After this, Tiller & Houen left the band to start their own Transsiberian Hijackers. Jens-Peter and Viggo made some recordings on their own, including for the Compilations Party Terror Vol.1 and Tsjernobilly Boogie. Since then, Guttorm (guitar), Olav (bass) and Baard (vocals) were engaged as new members. This crew made some recordings in 1987 which can be found on the Rest In Pieces cassette. A title that also suggested that the end was near. Angor Wat disbanded in 1988, but resurrected as Israelvis later that year. - Thirteen fast and rough treats are on this album to brighten up a long hard day's work!

V/A - Planet Punk #4 2005

Second and last part of Planet Punk and with Volume 3, this little self-made series is already complete. H2D#26 is another tidbit full of rare stars from international bands that are still kicking ass, much in demand and popular in our fucking disillusioned times which bring little decent music to light in my opinion. Music is like inventions, there is nothing innovative that can really impress me, hardly any wow factor or thing that I can really admire. And I would say that for almost twenty years. Speaking of music, we all hear & see the so called "combos" thrown together, the TV shows which offer only shit and are played over and over by radio stations, all this crap is boring, repetitive and only geared towards profit, commercial shit and really sucks. It's really intoxicating to get acquainted with such music as on this further fantastic compilation and to eke out an existence far away from this dead & dull society. That are the words for Sunday, Amen! Enjoy the vibes of the good ole days!

Welcome to another nugget from my Bloodstains collection with twenty-four great rare blasts from Northern Europe: Norway. A fine country for a relaxing holiday with lots of hills forests and lakes and only very few people living in the countryside. I certainly don't have to tell you more about the bands, because those who know the series know what's inside: superb stuff whose originals are priceless and that's exactly why such slabs were born and the boom of those brilliant records has now died and even these releases are hard to come by nowadays. And with that I say goodbye to my well-deserved vacation. Uncooked, wild, partly unpublished, rough and excellent material also offers the fourth outpouring from Svindel Records, whose mini-series Hurra For Norge takes us deeply into the fantastic Norwegian subculture and shows its diversity with thirty-four blasts from the period 1978-1988. The sound is variable as usual and many bands never saw the inside of a studio, several of the recordings are from live gigs and from rehearsal rooms, but in a good sound quality, I would say. Definitely interesting for all collectors and punkers who like the rare and rough, and those who like to discover new stuff. So friends, that's it for today. I slowly tune myself for the upcoming important match ⚽ against Leverkusen.

Hurra For Norge is a damn good series from Svindel Records and they compiled rare goodies from original live/demo tapes and vinyl of early norway punk, mostly in an edition of 500 copies. Overall, there are five issues released and all are outstanding and lovingly designed with all infos about the recordings/bands. I have four of them only this one not so I am very pleased that the Network Of Friends is intact. The artwork is unfortunately not there, maybe anyone send this in. Musically a punk firework with massive hits and further volumes will follow, guaranteed.

Und wenn ich schon die famosen Sampler vorher erwähnte hier the next round Killed By Death and this volume features international punk from 1975 - 1983. A lot of the records are postin' here and the rest safely elsewhere. 1.700 copies pressed in two batches of 850. The detectives did again a brilliant job, the song selection is excellent for my taste and released is this bootleg compilation again by Murder Records. Really good stuff and I grant full marks and that's really the last for today!
