V/A - Made In Britain 1980

I'm too lazy to write, only this: all songs here are great, awesome wave/punk songs from these four delicious UK bands, the LP was only released in the U.S., the makers probably knew why. I quote from back cover: " 'Made In Britain' - a hallmark shared by four bands signed to Polydor during the last two years. Backgrounds are varied, musical styles influenced by differing cultures and lifestyles, and yet they share a common bond...music of the highest quality. The Invaders, formed in West Yorkshire but more recently based in London, offer you tracks from their debut album, including their 3rd single 'Magic Mirror'. Described as "almost definitely the most melodic of all the postpunk bands" (Sounds); to the Invaders their music is personal & emotional, with its function being to communicate. Four lads in Bradford formed Excel whilst still at school , and their antics both on stage and off have won over club audiences throughout the country. Fun loving nutters or original popstars? - the music tells all. "Every once in a while, there pops up a piece of pop music which puts to shame the rest of that inherently genre" (NME). The Reception for 'Independence Day', second single from The Comsat Angels. The bazz about this Sheffield band almost drowns out the noise of critics clamouring to review their first album. Protex burst out of Belfast in 1979, playing a personalized brand of dynamic, snappy tunes and conquering audiences nationwide. The four teenagers have toured throughout Europe and even the East Coast of the States. They sing 'I Can't Cope' - we know different." - Brilliant compilation for all of us music maniacs!!

V/A - It Came From Slimey Valley 1984

Much of the early promotion of Nardcore came from Mystic Records, in Hollywood/California, its founder Doug Moody and Mystic Promotion Director Mark Wilkins. Mystic not only launched many bands onto vinyl, but also promoted the Nardcore scene as a whole. Another monumental compilation from the States and this one has quite a few cuts by bands making their vinyl debut. Cleanly produced from the Mystic/Ghetto Way and, like the COPulation LP, it contains a well-balanced mixture of thrash, punk, metal, and their permutations. Overall it provides a good introduction to current developments in the Southland. Marc Rude's grotesque cover art provides an additional bonus. - Jeff Bale (from Maximum Rocknroll #16, August 1984)

V/A - Hatelijke Groenten EP 1982

Nice compilation from Holland with lesser unknown bands. Released by Rood Wit Zwart Records. The musical spectrum ranges from lounge-punk to melodic stuff. A very interesting thing. More about the bands I can not say. I guess that these tunes here are their only recordings. Well anyway, this EP is a small audio document of the early Dutch scene. Check for yourselfs.

V/A - Bored Teenagers Vol.2 2001

16 tracks of pure, unadulterated British Punk Rock from the golden years of ‘77 - ‘82. This comp. delved ultra-deep into the archives to bring some of the best and rarest UK Punk singles ever, but also totally unreleased tracks by the likes of UXB, The Negatives, Knife Edge and Disorder making this one of the most essential items any Punk Rock fan could get his grubby little hands on. The makes usual put their heart and soul’s into this release - and once again both formats come with a great sixteen page booklet featuring liner notes written by the bands, pictures of the releases and ultra rare photos. "Sure, this could have come out years ago - we could have just bootlegged it and sent it out in a wraparound sleeve like all the rest of the money-hungry so called ‘fans’ out there. But we think the collectors deserve more - and we think the bands deserve more too - so we’re bringing this out 100% officially with the consent of all the bands involved. This is for the Punk connoisseur and the music fan alike - a blast from the past that still sounds fresh today. And ya wanna know the reeaaalllyyy cool thing?" You can imagine that this album was sold out quickly and this is not to say the quality on offer is poor, in fact on the contrary: the vast majority of songs here are excellent. Many rare tracks are showcased and this really is punk rock in its purest form: shoddily produced, home-made singles made by bored teenagers that still have a raw energy that encapsulates the very ethos of punk.

V/A - Ungdomshuset (Live) 2005

Ungdomshuset (literally "the Youth House") was the popular name of the building formally named Folkets Hus ("House of the People") located on Jagtvej 69 in Nørrebro/Copenhagen, which functioned as an underground scene venue for music and rendezvous point for varying autonomen and leftist groups from 1982 until 2007 when - after prolonged conflict - it was torn down, and later also for its successor, located on Dortheavej 61 in the adjacent Bispebjerg neighbourhood. Due to the ongoing conflict between the municipal government of Copenhagen and the activists occupying the premises, the building on Jagtvej was the subject of intense media attention and public debate from the mid 1990's till 2008. This awesome compilation is originally released as a two record set on their own label and all tracks were recorded live @ Ungdomshuset between 1984 and 2003. The song selection is quite delicious: punk, hardcore, ska, electronic, obscure, acoustic - a rich variety of all styles are here to hear. Damn cool.

V/A - Bloody Belgium 1997

Another unofficial release is comin' up now and I hesitated to post it because it's present in the net. But who cares, so I ripped my copy (besides, my rips are the best anyway, hähä) and it was the right choice. Let me give you some info from the back cover: "Being a very small country, Belgium's never had a lot punkbands around, but the ones that existed and made it onto vinyl are very much worth checking out. If you're not familiar with the original belgian punk stuff you'll get the picture after hearing this record." And so it is. Fantastic noises here and I have nothin' to add, except look around the net for the excellent Bloodstains compilations with tons of more rare Belgium stuff. Bloody Belgium is a great piece of vinyl, only hits, cool cover and lots of infos to every band/record. Merci!!

V/A - Die Neue Tanzmusik Ist Da Da Da 1982

The first NDW sampler now and as you probably recognize, here are a few punk bands represented which have more less to do with traditional NDW music style. This record was created in collaboration with the German Cancer Society and a certain amount per purchase this plate went to those. A great thing! And I think that we have here a collection that shows how individual the early german music scene was and this demonstrated a knack for putting together different music styles on one album. I love such diversions (a little boring are the tracks from the Doraus & Palais Schaumburg but who give's a shit). Now it's up to you, brain or pleasure!

V/A - TraunStadtKinder 1983

The 3rd Austria post here is this classic 80's punk/rock/new wave compilation from Wels, Austria. This production, a genuine cross-section of the previously underground-working young Welser scene, was made possible through the initiative of Ringstraße Productions and assisted by the bank in Wels. I must confess, a really pure '77 style punk rock compilation from the Alpine republic is rather rare or I just do not know everything. Anyway, this is a nice record with wonderful bands and pretty songs. So finally, enjoy a relaxing holiday with this sound for all followers who don't have to get up today.

2.I Am A Rock'n'Roll Star - EINBAHN

- Huge Thx to Reinhard -

V/A - Kellerrock Razzz EP 1980

Not quite as fresh and already dusty comes this rare piece from Austria with I think with bands from Vienna. All four songs here quite exclusive and again comes from the Alpine country not really '77 punk. 2 in german, 2 in english, but in detail: Chuzpe rock decently with their cool organ sound, a skillful guitar solo and a snotty voice fits perfectly, a good begin, next Zytacore..... starts as a ballad and after 90 seconds the song takes a decisive direction, the pace goes into stompin' and the use of a sax is not bad at all, their only public release maybe. A cool song, no more and no less. Side B starts with The Vogue, the band with Ronnie Urini, and with distance the best track here, great psychedelic garage punkrock with great speed, solid guitar playing = YES! here comes the end 60s beat generation up. Finally, the Underground Corpses with their inclined version of the Cure's 'Subway Song' in five minutes, excellent. A beautiful EP and I think one of the better releases from Austria.

1.Motorsound - CHUZPE
2.Narr In Der Welt - ZYTACOREANTIRTUMGANG
3.Running Fast - THE VOGUE
4.Tod In Der U-Bahn - UNDERGROUND CORPSES

V/A - Donaustrand EP 1980

Today is National Day in Austria (the people with the strongly melancholic accent) and because I love my neighbors and I'm mentally with yours on this glorious day, hahaha... the best thing today is you are free from work (not this year) and you should spent a walk on the beautiful Donau or visit the whorehouse for a nice fuck or bawl old songs from the past, enjoy a coffee in one of these many charmin' coffeehouses, kill a cop...or take a little of your short time to stop here and found this hot four track punk & rock EP. 1000 copies were pressed and maybe today less unspectacular for our punk rock ears, is this EP, the first real-time document of networking scene of two Austrian cities. The concept was simple and good: Two bands from Vienna (The Vogue & Tom Pettings Hertzattacken) and two from Linz (Miss Molly's Favorites & Willi Warma) contributed this to noble blue vinyl pressed EP each a song with, of which one half in Vienna and the other was sold in Linz. The project was extremely successful - and "Donaustrand", which was the debut release of the afterwards not quite insignificant four groups here, was sold out quickly.

1.Streetcorner Hero - WILLI WARMA
2.The Hard Facts - VOGUE
3.Four Hearts For You - MISS MOLLY'S FAVOURITES
4.Tonight - TOM PETTINGS HERTZATTACKEN

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World 1999

Amazing assortment of rare stuff from around the world on this Bloodstains compilation and it is truly remarkable where all finest punk rock was celebrated. When the songs have been recorded no one takes care and the bands disappeared quickly in the vast ocean and today their 7inches are highly sought and fuckin' costly. Crazy World or ???? Anyway, without www and music junkies around the world we never came in touch with those goodies. This record proves that. The only deficit here: The covers are cheap photocopied foldovers and no info sheet enclosed. Well fuck it, the music is excellent.

V/A - Killed By Death D'Italia 1977-1983

I quote from the liner notes: "We'll investigate another country for it's release in the good old days from '77 '83. Like in all southern countries, there were not many punk bands in Italy. It seem, the hot weather isn't any good for this kind of  fast, loud and aggressive music, we all like". All what i can say is: That LP had only cool stuff on it. You know the KBD series, one of the best addition to the Bloodstains compilations (if you don't know these albums you must live under a stone, haha). Click the search opition top left for more KBD stuff and now lots of fun with this antique relics.

V/A - Hilse 1979

The Hilse record was the first Finnish punk compilation and it really has all the important punk bands of the late 70's on it. A LP that everyone should have in your record collection. There are many simple reasons, the song 'Just Like Eddy, I Hate Teddy' from KOHU-63 is awesome, 'Ketään Ei Kiinnosta Mitään' by Pelle Miljoona 1980 is crazy & weird, the Beatles cover (Sensuuri), Briard & Ratsia tracks are killers etc. etc....all eighteen songs rock decently how we all like & know Finnish PunkRock (this is the CD version with eleven goodies from Hilse II). Enjoy!!!!

V/A - Frankfurt Hit Collection 1989

Limited edition of 1000 Copies of this city compilation which is appeared on Alm-Räcords in 1989, six bands, sixteen songs, offensive lyrics. I remember a concert in the Maxims here in 1991. The Maxims was more a disco shed near the central main trainstation and there was a gig (on Sunday I think) with the Gorilla Biscuits together with Persecuted Pharisees. What was very surprising because at that time there was much other venues as the Maxims. Well at least the show started quite late and the gig was extem fantastic. Since then I have not seen the Biscuits live. Perhaps even you out there remembers this concert. Pullermann, Bück Dich & Die Gichtkröten were regularly present in der Au, Mähtrasher probably existed only briefly. This compilation offers an overview of the bands that were at that time very active and is a decent contribution to the Frankfurt Punk history.

15.Edgar - MÄHTRASHER
16.Kill Poser - KILL POSER

V/A - Andra Bränder 1981

Once more rare Swedish Punk Compilation which I have no further info. This record was released by Massproduktion and I like here the mix between punk, wave and ska and who or what is Andra Bänder??? Anyway, every song is quite cool and I have nothin' bad to add. The bands are unknown to me and I think these recordings here are their only vinyl cuts. Except the Picnic Boys released a split EP with Huvudtvätt in 1981 which can be found here. And what should I say?? You're certainly curious about this LP and I recommend to get this quick. Swedish Punk = HELL YEAH!!!!

Especially cool is the cover version of  Buzzcocks 'I Don't Mind' by Ratsia. Sounds 1000 times better..aahhhh. I added all the artwork in the file with lots infos to every band. And now you come!!

V/A - Killed By Dentistry #1 2000

From me a very long sought piece of vinyl and now I can finally put it from my Wanted List, the rarest KBD compilation around and this awesome record was pressed in an edition of 200 copies with only bands from the English language area of our beautiful planet. Each copy had a  unique "blood" splattered cover and if you believe the rumors outside a crazy dentist have fabricated this one. I think it rather less but perhaps comes a judge or astronaut to the same idea. A damn cool selection of some well know songs and obscure scree provide absolute listening pleasure. So the weekend can begin.

V/A - Winters Of Discontent: Peel Sessions 1977-1983

A feature of Peel's BBC Radio 1 shows were the famous John Peel Sessions, which usually consisted of four songs recorded by an artist live in the BBC's studios, and which often provided the first major national coverage to bands that later would achieve great fame (These 'sessions' are similar to 'Live Lounge' sessions recorded today for the station). The BBC employed it's own house bands and orchestras and it also engaged outside bands to record exclusive tracks for its programmes in BBC studios. This was the reason why Peel was able to use "session men" in his own programmes. Sessions were usually recorded and mixed in a single day; as such they often had a rough and ready, demo-like feel, somewhere between a live performance and a finished recording. John Peel remained on BBC Radio 1 for 37 years, until his death in 2004. During that time over 4000 sessions were recorded by over 2000 artists. Many classic Peel Sessions have been released on record, particularly by the Strange Fruit label and this one of these.

V/A - Heimat Bist Du Großer Söhne 1982

Panza-Platte released with this excellent sampler a colorful bunch of bands and band projects, which Panza and Ronald Fleischmann brought together for this limited editon of 1000 copies compilation. And here we have more punkrock on it and like the "Die Tödlich Dosis" comp. with rare and explosive stuff. Lined with a few live recordings and obscure songs is this LP again a pleasure of early Austrian subculture. Some Bands have also released more records and they are extrem rare nowadays. Get it!!

V/A - Terminal City Ricochet 1989

Well, it's October and I sit at home and rip a few records and while I listen to this splendid album I thought it it the right post for today. This is a soundtrack record with excellent suff. The bands/songs here are damn great and on it one of my absolute favourite tunes, 'Madhouse' from Evan Johns & The H-Bombs, can listen to it everytime, I sit in it namely, brilliant guitars,  driving rhythm, perfect voice and with 6 minutes a really smasher, check it on youtube. The rest is also varied and brings me really in a good mood. Since when Jello has his fingers inside this can's be no shit. A few words about the film: Terminal City Ricochet is a 1990 film by director Zale Dalen. The name was taken from a hockey team called the Terminal City Ricochets. Starring Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Terminal City Ricochet is a dystopian comedy critical of television and its collusion with government and consumerism. Terminal City Ricochet is well known in cult film circles, but it has only been shown at film festivals, and a few times on pay-TV. The DVD of the film and a CD of the movie soundtrack is available through Alternative Tentacles. OK, let's see if I still post more today, but first further with ripping vinyl. Enjoy this great record!

1.Behind The Smile - D.O.A.
2.Television - THE BEATNIGS
3.Falling Space Junk (Hold The Anchovies) - JELLO BIAFRA with NOMEANSNO
4.Modern Man - I, BRAINEATER
5.Living With The Lies - GERRY HANNAH
6.War Party - ART BERGMANN
7.That's Progress - JELLO BIAFRA with D.O.A.
8.Madhouse - EVAN JOHNS & THE H-BOMBS
9.It's Catching Up - NOMEANSNO
10.Pull The Trigger, Sunshine! - THE GROOVAHOLICS
11.Concrete Beach - D.O.A.
12.Message From Our Sponsor/Object-Subject - KEITH LeBLANC & JELLO BIAFRA

V/A - Killed By Death #33 1998

Next round from the Redrum Records factory, 500 copies were pressed and the detectives did again a great job and put here 16 rare Killed By Death classics from punk bands around the world on this further essential compilation. The song selection is once again brilliant for my ears and there's no filler on it. Especially cool are the tracks from Soldiers Of Fortune, Victim, Charge and the finnish group Cadillac. The only drawback is this shitty cover. If you wonder about the colorful cover then just think is this a limited version?, may I give you an answer, hehe.... enjoy!

2.American Dream - SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE
3.Record Company - GANGSTERS
4.The Teen Age - VICTIM
5.Spiderman - GRINDER

V/A - Killed By Death #6 1993

Weekend is near and time for another round of KBD punkrock classics and again with most international stuff so far. Released again via Redrum Records, 500 pressed. Fewer classic tracks here though most are still above average. The Funeral Dress track is actually from 1987, though the label of the record is misleading. More goodies here from The Kids, Dirt Shit and all the other bands who have the heart at the right place - There are certainly other rips out there in Blogworld but they are incomplete or heartless. Here is the complete version with all 18 tunes for all the people who are not satisfied with the half. Check out this blog for more KBD compilations.

2.Army Life - FUNERAL DRESS
3.Exit - DIRT SHIT
4.Monotony - THE NEXT
5.Just A Doper - INSULTS

V/A - 1.2.3...Start LP 1985

After seein' the WYX post over at kbdrecords I figured I might as well post something exotic. Hungary is not really known for famous punk bands and this album includes a few ones. Musically here goes it in all directions, electronic, folk, alternative, pop, wave and punk. Certainly this album hits not everyone's taste and some might even consider it boring, but first, the exotic bonus counts and secondly be open for new stuff, thirdly, of this country comes not much underground music and fourthly good music must not always be fast, loud and dirty. Overall, I mean the plate is not bad, one two are wimps but listen for yourself.

1.Borzasztó Nagy Művész Vagyok - GITERÁTOR
2.Zsíroskenyér - SMOG
3.A Divat A Fontos - GIGI
4.Próbáld Meg! - SO-HO
5.Heavy Metal - POKOLGÉP
6.Hullámmozgások - SZINTÉZIS
7.Hej,Tulipán (Magyar Népdal) - GÉPFOLKLÓR
8.Hova Megy A Vonat - PUNCS
9.A Szomszéd Lánya Sem Zavar - WU-2
10.Róma - STB
11.Csak - TEJBEZRI
12.Samba - SPENÓT
13.J.M. Wyx Karácsonya - WYX
14.Szeptember – SZEPTEMBER
