Soon the Champions League is on T.V. but before, I wanna bring you closer to this brilliant record. Identity is the first release by Marginal Man from Washington, via Dischord, and they were founded by three members, Steve (vocals), Pete (guitars) and Mike (drums), of the recently defunct Artificial Peace. Andre (bass) and Kenny (guitars) completed 1983 the band. Marginal Man was one of the first DC hardcore bands to feature a two-guitar attack, as the original hardcore band member set-up featured a single guitar player. The band played together for five years and recorded this 12'' and two albums. They play a decent mid-tempo sound with really good emotional lyrics. I think my first touch with the band came with the very good Going Nowhere Slow compilation on Double A Records and 'Friend' is a first class song, since then I like the guys. On this slab are nine catchy outstanding goodies, lyric sheet enclosed and now soccer. - ENJOY!!

MARGINAL MAN - Double Image 1985
Second vinyl from Marginal Man on Enigma/Gasatanka Records and they continue where Identity ends. Eleven powerful mid-tempo blasts with brilliant lyrics in thirty minutes (that is almost too short). A successful review for you: "Blazing, roaring, and not sparing women and children. A tremendous, exhausting punk/post-punk record for anyone who thinks they can stand it. Blessed with considerable finesse to match their monstrous chops, these guys were pure songwriters and heirs to the amazing D.C. scene. More importantly, Double Image remains a prime example of the fantastic second-phase D.C. punk scene, actually greatly superior to the more famous but too fast early-'80s Capital hardcore days." Source: All Music Guide (Jack Rabid) - Gladly on numerous compilations invited. A great record with fury energy!

V/A - Going Nowhere Slow 1990
Another pearl is this international punk compilation. Released on the legendary german punk label Double A Records in 1990, the vinyl is marble red & yellow transparent and the bands on it are all incredible. Reiner uses his contacts to invite the bands to be part of this comp and this is one I can listen to everytime. Never boring spray all 17 songs an amazing power to me immediately straight into my heart. The successful mix of hardcore & melodic punk rock shows how many great bands were alive around the world. That's why I love such platters like these and I enjoy to listen to again & again. I think, this is the meaning of compilations at all. So if you love a varied sound grap fast and shake your ass.
