V/A - We Don't Need Nuclear Force 1985

Another important but small German punk label was Mülleimer Records from Stuttgart which put out some very good records from 1981-1986. Bands like Chaos-Z, Boskops, Normahl, Herbärds, Inferno and Maniacs, etc.. were thus known and this piece I think is the only international compilation on MR. The first pressing contained a strictly limited bonus EP and is much sought nowadays. A little review brings the sound to the point: "A pretty good world sampler featuring mostly previously released material that falls under the ranks of punk, hardcore, and post-punk. Some of the talents in the limelight are BOSKOPS, VARUKERS, TOXIC REASONS, RATTUS, WHITE FLAG, BRISTLES, and many others." - Martin Sprouse (from Maximum Rocknroll #36, May 1986)
A good start for Sunday hopefully tonight ends with 3 points.

VARUKERS - No Hope Of A Future 7'' 1984

Kick off the weekend with a solid 7Inch by the Varukers, a UK hardcore punk band formed in 1979 by Rat (vox), Biff (guitar), Brian (bass) and Stick (drums). They produced their most influential recordings in the early 1980s. This rare record was released via the Berlin label Pogar in several different colour sleeves and contains two superb pogo classics.

V/A - Rot In Hell 1984

Ei Di Weil, let's stay in an enjoyable mood and come to a compilation from my favorite British label Rot Records. In its short-lived tenure, they've released amazing records, including half a dozen compis, and to date none have disappointed me. On the one hand, this is due to bands that sent their demos there and can the songs therefore only be found there, and on the other hand to the unknown status of them. This healthy combination is daring and far from geared towards sales, also limited, I guess 1000 copies were pressed. Even Step-1 Music liked this stuff and re-released it on CD in 1996. A record deal then jumped out for some bands and became better known a little beyond their latitude. Rot In Hell is full with splendid music, as it should be for a little D.I.Y. label and you will like it.

G.B.H - Leather, Bristles, Studs & Acne 1981

I have long considered to post this classic because a) everyone has it and b) it's available with bonus tracks. But today, after more than two years sleepin' on my hard drive I'm now in G.B.H temper and that's good. Long time ago I've been listen to this classic and this is a must for anyone who calls himself a punk. Nine songs full of energy which were not recorded as before. G.B.H made an important step towards into an angry, fast and furious powerful hardore/punk sound and influenced a raft of young bands. Their debut 12'' is for me one of the best UK punk records. Issued as mini album by Clay Records in 1981 and spent thirteen weeks in the Indie Chart, eventually peaking at No.8. A little info for those who need it: G.B.H (Grevious Bodily Harm) are an English hardcore punk band, formed 1978 in Birmingham by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin "Jock" Blyth, bassist Sean McCarthy and Drummer Andy "Wilf" Williams. G.B.H were early pioneers of English street punk, along with Discharge, Broken Bones, Exploited, and The Varukers. They have gone on to influence several punk rock musicians. G.B.H the name was inspired by then-bassist Sean McCarthy's trial for grevious bodily harm. They have tons of 7inches and albums out and they're still active. This is G.B.H at their best and let's enter the weekend!

DRONGOS FOR EUROPE - Cage The Rage 2010

Well, yesterday's match wasn't really high class, but dramatic and exciting, and with a happy ending for Italy. Let's see what the two teams show today, both have the quality and deserve the final (small advantage, the Wembley Stadium). Further qualifiers from the island are Drongos For Europe, Birmingham based punx founded in 1979 and playing early gigs with mated G.B.H (with whom they're still touring today), Dead Wretched and the Varukers. Before I reveal a little more, I recommend to get their two previous singles which I post years ago and to find under Death's Eternity Career. In January 2010, to mark the 30th year celebrations, DFE Records released their second album Cage The Rage, which has been well received both at home and abroad. The band have been through many hard times, losing some good friends on the way, R.I.P Trogg, and Ivan, having their own personal losses and close encounters with death, but the Drongos are a gang, who together will always find a way and it will be no surprise that '77 Punk can be expected at the speed of '81 hardcore. No wonder that the guys are pretty pissed off and with most of the seventeen songs they process their many downfalls since the last album, but one thing is for sure: Drongos For Europe are what they always have been: a Punkrock band "Play Loud - Die Hard!". Fazit: Uplifting songs which gets blasted out amongst a whole bunch of other equally joyous tunes which make you feel good and definitely not for do-gooders. And now I wish us a spectacular match!

V/A - What Are You Doing About That Hole In Your Head? 1986

I don't know about you, but the hysteria over the Corona Shit gets on my nerves. I think all the measures, curfew, protective mask, cancellations are exaggerated, who knows what the Chinese were doing? What is certain is that they have triggered a pandemic and the European Football Championship will probably not take place this summer. Is that just a flu infection that made a lot of people die in a short time? The old and the sick are quickly affected and many die of flu, but this is normal because their immune systems is weak and society buys like stupid, that only makes clear how hollow they are and rely on the government and I think this brilliant compilation from Rot Records fits: What Are You Doing About That Hole In Your Head? Seventeen international nuggets for you to clear your mind... stay vertical!

1.Nada - OLHO SECO
2.Holy War - MASSACRE
3.Last Request - RED SCARE
4.Animals - VARUKERS
5.Game Of The Arseholes - ANTI CLIMAX
