RAFF - s/t EP 1984

And again some couple of french louts with their debut EP on Alpha Production with three decent kbd goodies. This four piece were founded in Limoges and the band consisted of Steff (vocals/guitar), Pack (guitars), Karl (bass), Pascal (drums) and made music together from 1984 to early 1988. They released in their short lifespan two albums, Votez Raff & Six Balles... Pour Un Colt!two 7Inches and a few compilation tracks and that's remarkable for a band from the province. And now I dedicate myself to the Bundesliga, today the last matchday of the first half of the season in Freiburg, hopefully three points.

RIFF RAFF - I Wanna Be A Cosmonaut EP 1978

In 1977, Billy Bragg formed the punk rock/pub rock band Riff Raff, and toured London's pubs and clubs. The band released a series of singles, which did not receive wide exposure and so the band disbanded 1981. This first EP was released on Chiswick Records and it's awesome. What a pity that the record was at that time not very successful, which I cannot really understand because there are four punkrock classics that kicks not exactly in the ass but still catchy & snotty and all of you who know Billy Bragg as solo performer you will be surprised how crazy this man was and still is. And today??.. you pay a lot coins for a copy, crazy or? I like the EP and I can listen to it everday and maybe you agree with me. In 2002 came out a compilation CD with all the singles on BMG.

RAFF - Six Balles Pour Un Colt! 1986

From Limoges/France came this Oi!/Punk band and this is their second album which was released at 77 Records. They were active from 1984 to 1986 and they released two singles and two albums. They play a good punk'n'roll sound with a decent tempo and the highlight is undoubtedly their cover version of Elvis' Love Me Tender. Otherwise much saxophone on all songs which I not always like, honestly I don't like this instrument at all and there are few songs in which it's mounted. Especially in the song 'Capitales', the weakest song on this Mini-LP, the blower gets on the nerves. Well, with a total of six songs one is shit I give at least 8 of possible 10 points. Raff are represented on those compilations: 1984 The 2nd and 77 Records Présente... - Fazit: not a bad album but with ups and downs.

BLOODY RIOT - s/t LP 1985

Bloody Riot is an Italian combo formed 1981 in Rome and active until 1987, the group reformed in 2001. The original line-up consisted of Lorenzo Canevacci (guitar), Roberto Perciballi (vocals), Pierpaolo Rossi (bass) & Francesco Latessa (drums), all of whom were minors at the time. Alex Vargiu subsequently replaced Rossi on bass, and Cesare di Porto took over on drums. With this lineup solidified in 1983, they released their first self-produced EP, featuring four splendid tracks. The following year, they recorded thirteen numbers for an album which was released in 1984 in collaboration with Giulio Tedeschi & Meccano Records. They performed their first concerts in rather well-known venues, such as Rome's Uonna Club and Piper Club, or Bari's Fireplace; later, they would perform predominantly in spaces self-managed by Punks such as Victor Charlie in Pisa, La Giungla in Bari, and Virus in Milan or in social centers (such as Forte Prenestino in Rome). Active throughout much of the 1980s, the group disbanded around 1987.

They reunited for a few concerts between 1993 & 1994. In 1998, X Records released the Compilation Come Se Nulla Fosse, which included the EP, the album and several live tracks recorded @ Forte Prenestino. In 2000, they resumed activity, recording three previously unreleased tracks written during the 1980s and adding them to the Compilation 'Disubbidisciti'. This CD was released in 2001 as a companion piece to the book Bloody Riot: Ardecore de Roma (1983-2001), published by Onda Rossa Libri. In 2008, a CD was released featuring all the tracks from the first LP, remixed and remastered from the original master tapes recorded at the Raff studio in Rome 1984.

In 1994, Alex Vargiu joined a new Punk band (Thrashred) that was undergoing a stylistic evolution at the time; together with Manolo Morea and Alessandro Petrozzi, he formed the band Bingo, with whom he released three singles as well as the album 'Close Up'. After Bingo disbanded in 2000, he formed another group, the Dissuaders and released the album *Minutes To Go* in 2010, which was dedicated to the poet Jim Carroll. Lorenzo continued to perform live with Alex Vargiu from 1987 until 1991, though they did not release any new material during that period. In 2010, he recorded an album with his new band, Wendy?!, which was subsequently released in 2011. In the early 1990s, Roberto Perciballi founded the band Vegetebol in collaboration with the guitarist from Klaxon, another Punk band based in Rome, and together they released two albums. From 2009 onward, Roberto performed with Because the Bean, a band based in the Reggio Emilia/Parma area, playing all the tracks from the original LP; the group functioned essentially as a tribute band, albeit one featuring the original lead singer. On March 20, 2016, Roberto, the band's singer & frontman, passed away following a heart attack.

V/A - Oi! The French Connection Vol.1 1997

I leave the stage today with this fine record which was pressed on marble vinyl from Boucherie Disc. The créme de la créme of french Oi!/Punk is here present and kickin' the street sound in your blood. All songs are taken from various records which had the bands released in the 80's and meantime hard to find. Quite good song selection with massive hits. One deficit: there is no information about the bands inside and I think for a small supplement should be the cash sufficient. Scheiß was drauf, das Wetter ist scheiße, nachher Umzug helfen mit lecker Essen, der Sonntag kann weitergehen. Coole Platte.

V/A - Bad Teeth #1: U.K. & Irish Punk Bands 1977-1982

Last post today, and as you're used to in this theater, a great compilation created by Hyped To Death. A little introduction of the label from their page: "Rare, obscure, independent and undiscovered punk, post-punk, "D.I.Y." and Power Pop Groups from the US and UK 1977-1984. Hundreds and hundreds of bands dealing with compilations and dozens of releases of individual acts, all brilliantly restored on CD and custom CDRs. Plus tens of links and liner notes galore..." I think all their releases came out in limited editions and are not uninteresting for collectors. This one is my only copy, and try to find a disc by yourself is similar to finding the Holy Grail, almost impossible. The best way is to contact the label. Well, maybe more will follow or someone out there will send me some. Until then, enjoy it!
