PINPOINT - Third State 1980

A very underrated album is the full length by Pinpoint which were formed by Arthur Billingsley (AKA Arturo Bassick) in 1978 after he left the Lurkers, compiled by David M. Allen (bass) and Hugh Griffiths (drums) and it's really a shame that this LP received not much attention at the time of its publication. So for this we are bloggers here to change that. They released overall with the album three 7inches and the most known is their debut single Richmond, all on Albion Records. This album has ten great songs on it, a perfect mixture of fast punk numbers (Blind Eyes, Dark & Red), cool synthesizer smasher (Family Life, Waking Up To Morning, Drowning In The Wave Of Life) and simply great wavie tunes (Listen To The Snow, Hospital, Third State) and a fine ballad (Somebody Told Me). This brilliant record receives my full score and belongs in every punk collection. Compilation featuring the band on Killed By Death #1010011010 and Pure British Pop For Raw People Vol.1 and there is a complete collection CD with all their recordings out which you can order here. So enjoy the 'Third State' and have a sunny time.

THE LURKERS - Freak Show 7'' 1977

Veterans of the London Punkscene are The Lurkers and this is their second 7Inch on Beggars Banquet. Part of the first wave of British bands to emerge in the mid Seventies, playing tough, meat-and-potatoes Rock & Roll with plenty of attitude and a jaundiced eye toward the world around them. This little dittie came out in October 1977, and by the time it was released, Arturo Bassick (vocals/bass) had left the band to form his own group, PinpointBut the band found an adequate replacement and since then they've been delighting us with their straight-forward music and their debut Fulham Fallout from 1978 is for me one of the best UK records ever. So friends, the shitty world of work is calling and a good start has been taken care of, may Monday pass quickly.

V/A - Killed By Death #1010011010 2002

I think, it's time for another rare compilation from the grandiose Killed By Death series, today we dedicate ourselves to the 300 copies slab by Teenage Lust Records and meet twenty howlin' punk anthems of 1977-1982. The detectives convince with healthy taste and I think, the mix with well-known classics and pieces that are found somewhere on hard-to-get singles is fucking felicitous. Exact my bottle of Hefe and the right sound for breakfast! Admit, you've been waiting for this a long time...
