THE OUTCASTS - The Punk 7Inches Collection 1995

The following combo is also been a guest in my theater several times and it's the Bad boys of the Ulster Punk scene: The Outcasts - Formed in Belfast in June 1977 by the Cowan brothers: Greg (bass/vocals), Martin (guitars) and Colin (drums). They were joined by Getty on guitar. The band played their first gig in May 1977, playing a mixture of their own songs and cover versions. After building a strong local following, they were picked up by the local It record label, who released the band's debut single, Frustration, in May 1978. They were then signed to Terri Hooley's Good Vibrations label, who released Just Another Teenage Rebel 7Inch in November 1978, which saw the band receiving airplay on national radio from John Peel. And so the history went on. They made three albums and a few 7Inches and all those goodies are united here on this fantastic compilation by Anagram Records.

ANGELIC UPSTARTS - Classics Live 1991

Everything is said about the Angelic Upstarts and all their records a brilliant. What we have here is an amazing piece with all their early hits and I don't know if this is an official album because originally released by Dojo Records in 1991 but that plays no minor role, this one is the Street Link release. Recorded live @ the Retford Porterhouse on 13. August 1982, Mensi & Co. celebrate excellent cross-section of their first three LP's and shows the band at their best after leaving EMI and just before they signed to Anagram. Strong sense of melody with a unique flair for catchy choruses, added to some of the angriest and most biting lyrics to be heard anywhere. Three or four years ago they had a gig here and they were fuckin' awesome and I'm glad to have at least once see them live. Almost thirty years after these recordings they lost none of their energy and intensity. Pure energy music from one of the UK's best punk bands, a significant record, Hello October!

ANTI-PASTI - The Best Of CD 1996

Now another decent compilation on Dojo Limited and it's called 'The Best Of' and I always have a hard time with such titles because the real crackers are usually missing. But everything fits with this CD and all their hits are there, but the other one on Anagram called The Punk Singles Collection is also okay and has one more song on it. Of course you can ask why the whole thing came out again at short intervals (two years), but that's not important. Short info: England 1978, the Punkrock explosion had enveloped the country. In Derby, Anti-Pasti arose from the ashes of several other well-meaning but otherwise non-committed early Punk bands and Martin (vocals), Dougie (guitars), Stu (bass), Stan (drums) come together in 1979 and decided to become a part of it and that resulted in five fabulous 7inches that were released within just two years, four of them on Rondelet Music Records, and are real rarities today. Furthermore they made three good albums and in January 1984 the band broke up. In the mid Nineties Anti-Pasti came back and several albums were re-issued on CD for the first time, were headlining at the Fuck Reading Festival, followed by a short tour through the UK and Europe with huge success and 2016 their fourth call Rise Up was proclaimed on Westworld Recordings and let's see what else is going furtherMusically nice melodic and catchy songs with good lyrics and many invitations on relevant Compilations make clear, they're not unpopular with their music. You'll notice that too, I know!
