V/A - Anarki & Kaos #2 2007

"Punk, Råråkk & Aggression - Archaeological excavations from the Norwegian underground 1978-1981", so briefly about the content of the second Anarki & Kaos compilation from Voices Of Wonder Records and this Silberling is full with rarities and classics. Comes in a decent artwork with much infos, but I don't understand why nobody came up with the idea to translate the whole thing into English... but with a short video which is apparently without sound, hmmmm.... frankly, I can't see any sense in it. Well, somehow I think this CD shouldn't go beyond Norway and is certainly very interesting for locals, but let's be not so critical; Fakt is: together with Volume 1, both provide an excellent insight of the subculture by this country of the early wild years.. Unfortunately only as CD available, but essential for all KBD friends... choose an indispensable listening experience!

ALLER VÆRSTE! - Materialtretthet 1980

Half-time in Hoffenheim and the fuckin' FCB leads with two goals, it seems the chief floor has stabilized. Well, let's come to the Aller Værste!, a Norwegian new wave/ska band from Bergen of the early 80's, which started out as a hobby project by four members of long-forgotten group Johnny Banan Band, members were Chris Erichsen (vocals/guitar), Ketil Kern (drums), Sverre Knudsen (bass/organ), Lasse Myrvold (vocals/guitar/organ) and Harald Øhrn (bass/vocals/organ). Apparently big with John Peel at the time, their debut Materialtretthet on Den Gode Hensikt won a Spellemannspris (Norwegian grammy) in 1980. The group disbanded after their second record, Disniland I De Tusen Hjem. Not easy to describe their sound because typical Ska sounds different but remarkable is the fiepsende organ that reminds me of the DoorsTAV! was part of the punk boom without playing punk. They kept going for a two-year period and released two albums - yet they have an indisputable and central place in Norwegian rock's history and development over the past twenty-five years. Also on numerous compilations and one plus an EP (listen) are in this theatre, meanwhile 1:2.

V/A - Sjokk Rock 1980

Recorded at Høvikodden June 1980 comes this rare Mini-LP with eight live tracks from the créme de la créme of norwegian punk rock. I've been searchin' a fuckin' long time to hear this record and now contributed by Mister "classic stuff" Fredrik (Skål!). All tunes came along in an awesome sound quality and it starts with with a torpedo from Kjøtt, followed by a band called 1984 which says nothing to me but this tracks kicks arse, holy shit, next my absolute favourite band: Hærverk from Oslo and this tune is a killer like the songs from their only EP 'Stengt Pga Hærverk', I think their live tape would also great. With Blaupunkt & Oslo Børs comes again two '77 style tracks which I would have definitely taken on tape if I do one. Next, (Psykedeliske) Tystere, unknown to me and the track takes the fast pace out of here and goes a little in the rock section with a touch of small swing elements, not bad, then Babij Jar and they are ugly rockin' with a long solo guitar ala Jimi Hendrix (the worst track here) and at last a surfin' influenced track with a fuzzy guitar and a nice tempo from The Aller Værste. All in all a fantastic record which has convinced me with their fully rough & wild live sound.

1.Flue - KJØTT
2.Hva Faen - 1984
3.Aj, Aj, Aj Så Leit - HÆRVERK
4.Gul & Blå - BLAUPUNKT
5.Fikser Du Livet Ditt - OSLO BØRS
6.Ramba - (PSYKEDELISKE) TYSTERE
7.Donk-Donk - BABIJ JAR
8.Dans Til Musikken - THE ALLER VÆRSTE

DE PRESS - Block To Block 1981

De Press is a Polish-Norwegian new wave band founded in Oslo in 1980. They were among the leading Norwegian new wave bands, and also gained a following in Poland. The original De Press had the following line-up: Andrej Nebb (Andrzej Dziubek) - vocals & bass, Jørn Christensen - guitar, Ola Snortheim - drums & percussion and the debut album Block to Block was one of the most influential Norwegian rock releases in the early 80's (alongside The Aller Værste's Materialtretthet). With their unmistakeable blend of typical early 80's dark new wave rock and Eastern European influences (complete with Polish refugee Andrej Nebb's often unintelligble Norwegian-English-Polish lyrics), they have remained an oft-referenced band in Norwegian rock. Original pressings of their early work fetch high prices on the second hand market, and although none of their subsequent album releases matched their debut in terms of acclaim and popularity, Block to Block is consistenly rated high on "best Norwegian albums of all time" lists and is nowadays a true classic punk/wave album. The original De Press disbanded in 1981, but also recorded a second album in 1982 called Product. They reunited in 1991. By 1995, Nebb was the only remaining original member. With various line-ups, Nebb's De Press still tour and release records in Poland.

ALLER VÆRSTE! - T.A.V.! EP 1980

Here's a record how I love it: oblique, extraordinary beats, funny and hard to classify. I would describe the sound as punk but different, not 1-2-3-4 let's go hey ho, rather friggelig you know and I'm really excited. The Aller Værste! (The Worst!) exists from 1979–1981 and were formed in Bergen, members are Sverre (bass/organ/vocals), Lasse (guitar/organ/vocals), Chris (guitar/organ/vocals), Harald (bass/organ/vocals) and Ketil (drums) which started out as a hobby project by four members of long-forgotten group Johnny Banan Band. They are influenced and inspired by punk, new wave, ska and reggae and released two albums and three 7inches. Several of their releases are considered classics in Norwegian rock. They received a Spellemannprisen (a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians) in 1980, for the album Materialtretthet. Their two first singles are played at the influential BBC, by program manager John Peel. The group disbanded after their second LP Disniland I De Tusen Hjem. They had a reunion tour in 1990 and concerts in Bergen and Oslo in 1999. So this is their second EP on Den Gode Hensikt with four goodies.
