Oh shame on me for not posting about this brilliant band from Frankfurt/Main yet, eieieieieieieiei. The Magic Splatters were active in the Nineties and consisted of Sven (vocals/sax), Ralvieh (guitars), Eaglebauer (bass) and Oskar (drums). They made three 7Inches and one album, and by the end of the same decade, the band had disbanded. I've seen them live a few times, but for the life of me, I can't remember but that's entirely due to my poor memory. They made an excellent sound of the eternal '77 Punkrock, and back then, they built a real fan base in the Rhine-Main area as a party band. I've read their name on numerous flyers that time and if you hear their music, you'll know why. Lyrically, as befits a band from Frankfurt, it's clear and straight into your face without any confusion, that's why I love this city so much and enjoy living at this fucking place. Do yourself a favor and listen to the foursome while enjoying a cold beer. Cheers!

SLOBOBANS UNDERGÅNG - Ett Annat Liv 7'' 2023
Friends, the last few days and weeks have been extremely exhausting, and on top of that, I had a really terrible summer flu. At times, I didn't know what to think, and my emotions were just as up and down. And you wouldn't believe how much weight I've lost; I almost look like a Zombie, but important decisions and changes take their toll, and I'm really glad I can leave this country for ten days soon. Today I feel able to be active here again and a 'new' 7inch from Gothenburg's Slobobans Undergång will delight you. The band is on the road since the late Seventies and released a couple of excellent 7Inches plus a split album with Rövarna in the 1980s. There are two powerful songs to hear and the guys still sound refreshing and carefree. Some bands can still write good songs after many years and therefore remain important.

THE DARVOCETS - Do The Crop Circle EP 1996
We're continuing with a bit of not-too-serious music, and the theme here is the extraterrestrial and our veiled world, I'd say. But let me first say thx for all your kind comments on the previous sampler. It's not just only for me, but for you too, and I hope it helps and lets you move on. I've made my decision and I feel soooooo fucking good. Now to the post. From the Cleveland area came this quartet called the Darvocets and the band consisted of Larry (vocals), Paul (guitar), Chris (bass), Bobby (drums) and I have to say their first EP (Non-Commercial Records) is fucking cool. Damn, just got the message Circle Jerks playing tonight, I have to go.

V/A - Happy Birthday, You Sweet Liar! 2025
I guess every one of you, dear followers, has experienced this. You think you know someone well, a lover, a friend, or some other confidant, and then one day everything changes. You are lied to for no reason by this person. And you clearly know it's a lie. Of course, this hurts immensely, and you ask yourself what the reason was? Self-protection, fear of consequences/conflicts, or social conformity/reputation in society? Or do people lie to get rid of someone, to throw away baggage... I don't know. In any case, you are left with ambivalence and have to make a decision whether you want to tolerate this person in your environment any longer or not even look at them again. They always say everyone deserves a second chance, but if you feel like you're being treated disrespectfully and the other person doesn't care at all, well, I'm for a cut, and a breakup is the logical consequence. There are certainly many views, thoughts, and opinions on this, so I came up with the idea of channeling my anger and dismay into music, and this Compilation is meant to help, or at least for the time being. Of course, you can always fall flat on your face, nothing is guaranteed, but when you're 100% being screwed, there's only one option left and I'm tired of crying after such ignorant people. Especially when they say of themselves, "I hate liars". - You see, they have no self-respect, they deceiving their selfs. Anyway, I'll think twice about who I'll give the next bouquet of roses.
Take Care!

TURBONEGRO - Vaya Con Satan EP 1991
One of the early, rough singles by Turbonegro, released via Sympathy For The Record Industry, first issued on black vinyl, as well as several colors of marbled vinyl. Later issued on black vinyl with different labels. "Life is a sexually transmitted disease, for which the only known vaccine is death" says a vocoded voice as an intro to this three-track scathing track. Vaya Con Satan is one of the band's first EPs, released before the first album, a true organ of resistance throughout the Nineties, distilling music that many considered retro, especially compared to other underground American labels... Turbonegro, already on this single, only makes Rock'N'Roll. Soaked, made up, certainly, without forgetting the hormone injections stamped Bad Brains. It's wild, freshly uncapped and it's loud, even queer, the drums resonate as if they were recorded in the cold room of a semi-trailer going 200 on the highway... Turbonegro seems to be taking over from Motörhead so much that you wonder why they didn't call themselves Turbonëgro. Without having invented the thimble, they remain a sure bet when it comes to getting hairy guys, keupons and hardcore fans to agree on the same bad vibe.

EYES - TAQN 7'' 1979
Eyes is a Los Angeles based combo, known for their early 1970s/80s sound, featuring members like Joe (vocals/guitar), Jimmy (bass), Joe (drums) and David (organ). They released two singles and tracks on Compilations, notably on Dangerhouse Records, and had a 10" EP released in 2009 featuring both previously released and unreleased material. The band also reunited for performances a couple of times. Joe, the leader of the Eyes, was a cerebral master of the unexpected lyric in front of the musical conventions of Punkrock. His musical concept fit into the Wire keep-'em-coming-too-fast-to-know groove, and the lyrics he wrote with John Richey were way over most people's heads. This two catchy Pop-Punk hymns with an incessant bleeping and blooping organ is a highly regarded piece of early L.A. Punk and is generally well received by critics and fans, including myself. The four are present on numerous Compis, so keep your eyes open.

EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN - Haus Der Lüge 1989
Now here's a record that I've always enjoyed listening to and that somehow fits my mood perfectly, and also a visual and acoustic experience live as well. I still remember the first time I put the record on: "Are they going to be commercial now?" I thought, and I immediately had to play it again. And I forgot all the noises and drills and realized that the band had developed further and for better. Well, and therefore it might be a good entry for newcomers, you decide... Info: Haus Der Lüge (House Of Lies) is the fifth full-length by Einstürzende Neubauten and is the final one of Eighties, found the group wrapping up that decade on a high note; while the eight songs barely lasts over half an hour, it's designed for maximum impact, and that it creates. Probably the classic epitome of industrial! The eventual acceptance of the unconventional, Neubauten-typical fusion of sound, rhythm, and words. The seasoned five-person lineup clatters and bangs away with fire, though the focus is more on straightforward industrial-tinged rock, as opposed to full-on industrial banging and relentless sonic experimentation. The almost eerie, subtly morbid momentum and importance, which are based on the unprecedented cult status of the band, make this record one of the most important of its era and definitely the most important of its genre! A beautiful EN record that has it all: powerful beats, poetic lyrics, ballads, and authentic excursions.

NEUROTIC ARSEHOLES - All' Die Jahre (Live) 1986
One of the best German Punk combos of the 80s were Neurotic Arseholes, and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with them. I'm one of the lucky ones who got to see them live three times. The band liked the idea of a farewell LP, and the collaboration with Weird System enabled them to fulfill their wish with this third and final album. Seventeen pieces, three of which have never been released before, were compiled from various live tapes of concerts in West Germany and Berlin in 1985-1986, and mostly from the farewell concert at the AJZ Bielefeld. The quality is excellent and brings the dynamic/power of the Arseholes damn well into your living room, the vocals are sometimes a bit weak and the bass could have more bums, but if you know the songs you'll feel comfortable and it's absolutely catchy for newcomers. And I can tell you, I haven't listened to the record for a long time, but it transports me back where life was carefree and innovative, and every Punk gig brought always a sense of well-being and lots of fun. Unfortunately, I can't confirm that anymore (today everything can be found on the fucking social networks). Well, what can I say, getting old sucks and memories are precious, after all they are part of our history and I like to dig them up every now & then, especially in empty moments. Enough bla bla, enjoy the four guys from Minden and buy their records.

SUZANNES - Dutch Punk 1977-1978 [2014]
One more excellent Compilation from RaveUp Records and this fucker was pressed 2000 times and is dedicated to the Suzannes, a four piece from Enschede which operated from 1976 to 1978. Influenced by the Ramones, they called themselves to the song Suzanne by Leonard Cohen that was in their repertoire in a Punk version. Characteristic of their performances was by playing tight succession of all the songs. They made an EP on the label ‘1000 Idiots’ with six songs (in two versions, including New Disease sells 2000 copies in Europe) whose “Teenage Abortion” is the most famous song. They performed outside Enschede include in Paradiso and the Stokvis Halls in the schedule of Ultravox. Typical of the Suzanne was changing their names in Suzanne. Key member was Suzanne Ron da Costa, the only non-musician who is named on the EPs. Singer of the band was Suzanne ‘Fedde’ van der Spoel, guitarist Suzanne ‘Loek’ Stolwijk, bassist Suzanne ‘Dick’ Pekelharing and drums Suzanne ‘Klaas Sikkema’. The tracks were from the only EP New Disease Sells 2000 Copies In Europe! (recorded January 1978, live @ Paradiso (November 1977) and live @ the Vestingbar (March 30th 1979; last concert) and the B-Side was recorded live @ the OpenLuchttheater in summer 1977. That sounds pretty decent I would say, and the recordings are absolutely fine. They also appear on some very good Compis. Top!

ADOLESCENTS - Complete Demos 1980-1986 [2005]
For die-hard fans and Punk archivists, the following album is a must-have; it complements the debut album with rare material and offers fascinating insights into the formative years of the Californian Hardcore scene. The first four tracks suffer somewhat in terms of sound quality, but while authentic at the time, frustrating at times today. Anyone seeking refinement should choose the debut. If you want raw energy, go for it. Special features: "Richard Hung Himself" is the raw original version, which later became more popular through D.I.; the two versions of "Wrecking Crew" provide creative insight; the 1986 reunion demos score with improved sound and more mature song structure. The Complete Demos 1980-1986 by the Adolescents was released via Frontier Records and includes the band's first three demo tapes, recorded between March and July 1980; one outtake from the recording sessions for their 1981 EP Welcome To Reality; and two songs recorded during their 1986 reunion as demos for their second album Brats In Battalions (1987). The first eight tracks are the only material recorded by the Adolescents' original line-up, which included guitarist John O'Donovan and drummer Peter Pan. The remaining tracks include their replacements Rikk Agnew & Casey Royer. What remains: this selection is a goldmine for all friends of the early Adolescents: full of vitality, occasional botched recordings, but with a lot of heart.
