COBRA - Stand The Pressure 1985

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Eve, mine was fantastic this year and I will remember it for the rest of my life. You can imagine why and I won't go into detail because it's really none of your business, but I will say one thing: it was the best December 24th I've ever had. - Let's fly east and stop in Osaka and meet Cobra and listen to the band's debut album on AA Records with fourteen splendid goodies. Info: The original incarnation of the band was formed in 1982 by two friends who had first met in their junior high school's folk music club: Yosu-Ko (vocals/bass) and Naoki (guitar), and a mutual friend known as Mi-Chan (drums). Their first recording was the EP Break Out, released from the independent label AA Records in 1984. Naoki left that same year. They released several singles and EPs on AA Records, some of which were later collected on a CD entitled Indie Omnibus '82-'86. The band's debut featured an eye-catching cover of a boot crushing a young man's face and came with a two song bonus flexi. The band went through several member changes. Then in 1989, Yosu-Ko happened to meet Naoki and bassist Pon, who at the time were both members of the punk band Laughin' Nose but thinking of leaving. They joined Yosu-Ko, and drummer Ki-Yan completed this line-up. They were signed by a major record label, Pony Canyon, and released two full-length albums, both 1990 and a half-length album (1991). Although this incarnation of Cobra was quite commercially successful, it disbanded in December 1991 after only a year. Cobra reformed in 1999 and released a new album, simply entitled Cobra. Yosu-Ko & Naoki were the only members to return from the previous line-up; Yosu handled the bass duties as well as vocals, and the two were joined by drummer Yoshiro. This album represented a departure in the band's sound compared to their 1980s/early 1990s work, with generally quieter guitars, less of an emphasis on sing-along choruses, and more of an overall alternative rock feel. More albums followed and in 2005 Cobra was disbanded again. Two years later they reformed again and have apparently continued to be active since then, but the last record was twelve years ago. However, the band is an important part of the Japanese Oi/Punk scene and their sound has also won them many fans in Europe.

MORGEN TEUER TÖTEN - Schluckauf Akut! [Tape] 2022

With the following post I contradict myself, what about old stuff, no... Now comes new music and those who have downloaded my Compilation Positive Energie 2 are one step ahead with a small impression of the current band. Morgen Teuer Töten is a Synth-Punk band from Berlin and this is their first output, a five track demo. There isn't much information about the band, line-up, etc... but we are listen to a female voice and I think there are three members in total. To date there is an EP, this tape and the current debut album was  released in October 2024 on Kidnap Music. And that's where some information comes from, because unfortunately I have nothing. The band brings everyday madness straight into your ears. With biting lyrics they pounce on the irrelevant trendy society until it's screaming in front of the supermarket checkout. Their songs are so catchy that you'll still be singing along to them in the shower after the concert - and so shameless that even the soap turns red. There's good music, there's shit music and there's Morgen Teuer Töten. Very good Nuggets in an acceptable PostPunk tangle.

V/A - Avon Calling 2 2010

Well friends, it's that time again, Christmas Eve is here, families and loved ones come together for once a year to tell stories and eat and spend the evening in cozy harmony, just as society celebrates and television dictates. And many of you know what my position is on all this crap. These days mean nothing to me and in the past few years have only brought pain and misunderstanding. But I don't want to speak badly of these days, no no, of course there are happy people who look forward to them all year and others who remain alone and wish they would pass quickly, and for all those who have nothing planned for these days, this theater is also made. Let's see if I can cheer you up a bit with some old stuff that could light up your hearts. Already fourteen years old but filled with rare goodies is the following Compilation from Bristol Archive Records and is in my opinion a worthy continuation. A small intro: "This new album full of forgotten treasures and will sit perfectly along side the original Avon Calling release and go some way to completing the story of just what was happening in Bristol back in 1979/1980 and how the music sounds as relevant today as it did back then. If you like British Punk you'll like this, and one for collectors too." This not only sounds interesting, it is interesting! A wonderful mix of excellent tastings and in any case precious.

RABID - The Bloody Road To Glory EP 1982

I did a little searching on my hard drive and found the following one. It's not my rip either, but it's worth posting this music. Back across the canal to meet Rabid, who weren't able to get off to a good start like others, a four piece from Leicester which were founded 1979 and they consisted on this fine debut EP of Nick (vocals), Dean(bass), Brute (guitars), Penny (drums) and initially active between till 1986. A new line-up of the band was reformed in 2013. After recording a 5-track demo in 1981, they released this debut EP on their own 'Blank Label' imprint. After the EP's distributor, Fresh, went out of business, owing money to Fall Out Records, Fall Out reissued the EP later in 1982. They released two 7Iinches in their early days and after the re-union they became more active in terms of albums. Three were made by 2016. Since then, it has been quiet around them. Enjoy the record!

A+P - Links Rechts EP 1982

My dear friends, I was so busy this weekend digitizing LPs that a very good friend lent me that I hardly had a chance to post anything, but two double vinyl albums with a total of over eighty songs leave their mark and take up a lot of time, but it's done and we now come to another rare German goodie and it's the only 7Inch by A+P from Munich with five minimalistic Pisstakes, original released by the Switzerland label Soilant. A+P cover a variety of topics in their songs, including social injustice, Nazi filth, religion issues and the challenges of living in modern society. Their lyrics are often direct and provocative, making them a voice in the Munich scene The song Dachau (which is on their first LP), for example, was censored by the authorities because it shows the truth and brutality of the cruel dark German twelve years and when I watch the documentaries in TV over and over again I feel sick and have to puke. People are shit, and that has remained the case in this century, and it makes me angry when I think of all the assholes who buy everything with money, especially those who can be bought with money and whose situation is taken advantage of. For sure is that some club, church institution or Nazi bigwig contributed to the judicial amputation of the song but it doesn't matter, as long as we fight against the system and remain ourselves, these wankers can kiss our asses... and let me tell you: Don't fall in love with their world. Now I've digressed.... very good five song EP and sorry for the crappy rip, it's not mine.

OROHPACKZ - Ruhestörung 7'' 2018

Orohpackz is a band that came together in Berlin in the mid-eighties. Former members of the recently disbanded Deutsche Trinkerjugend decided to escape the boredom and founded Orohpackz. The band consists of Wolfgang (vocals), Köhler (guitars), Ralf (bass), Uwe (drums). They played a few concerts and finally recorded two songs that nobody outside of Berlin knew until six years ago. The renowned label Rotten Totten Records, which specializes in finding such valuable treasures, released these two nuggets in an edition of 100 copies (50 on yellow clear & 50 on purple vinyl) and put a little exclamation mark on the short-lived combo. Equipped with liner notes by bassist Ralf, this record is a beautiful thing.

THE MENTAL - Extended Play EP 1979

Short lived four piece from the Melksham/Trowbridge area and the band consisted of Dick (vocals), Sikick (guitars), Steve (bass), Tony (drums) and this is their only record which was self-released on Kamikaze Pig Records, hand numbered out of 600 copies, with four garage-scratchy, chaotic numbers, with excellent tempo and simply played, just the way I like it. Shortly afterwards the band split and singer Dick went onto to form the Subhumans with members of another local band The Stupid Humans. It goes without saying that the original 7inch is now being traded at high prices, almost a bit too high for my taste, and its presence on Compilations is also rather rare, but the meticulous detectives have found them for the Bloodstains Across The UK 3 beauty. This means they are worthy, rightly so. That's it folks!

ASTA KASK - Världens Räddaste Land 7'' 2013

The gentlemen from Asta Kask are always welcome in this theatre, today with their ninth 7Inch Världens Räddaste Land (The Scariest Country In The World) on Gaphals, 500 pressed: 200 on white vinyl, 300 on black. The band has released several albums in their lifetime and has developed a loyal fan base, both in Sweden and internationally. They have also disbanded several times but have always returned healthy and remain an influential force in Sweden with their energetic power sound, which is also found in these two melodic, catchy & dynamic nuggets. Also noteworthy are the lyrics, which takes apart a world-famous superpower and look behind the beautiful facade, match the cover. The B-side features with 'Välkommen Ner' a non-album track, so everything done right I would say, give it a try!

THE PACK - King Of Kings 7″ 1979

In early 1978, Londoner Kirk Brandon joined the Torbay Punk band The Cane as bassist, which had been founded in 1977 by guitarist and singer Chris Skornia & drummer Simon Wright. Johnny Suede joined the band as lead guitarist. They decided to move to London, recorded three songs as a demo tape for concert promoters in a small recording studio in Torquay and moved into a house near Heathrow. At this point, the band's name was changed to The Pack Of Lies and Simon Wright was replaced by Scottish drummer Rab Fae Beith. The band's original line-up played a single gig in Torbay, then Skornia and Suede left. Suede went to the USA for a while and became Culture Club's first guitarist in early 1981. Kirk and Rab brought the two Canadian brothers Jonathan and Simon into the band, and the band name was shortened to The Pack at Simon Werner's suggestion. Kirk took over the vocals. The new band went to London's Gooseberry Sound Studios on August 8, 1978, four songs were recorded as a demo, a second concert (the first with the new line-up) took place in the Camden Film Cooperative. The fourth concert in London's Nashville Rooms on October 7, 1978 was filmed on Super 8 from the audience. In April 1979, The Pack released their first single Heathen/Brave New Soldiers on the band's own label S.S. Records. Due to conflicts with Brandon, drummer Rab left the band. He worked briefly with Patrik Fitzgerald and then joined The Wall. The new drummer was Canadian Jim Walker, who had previously played in Johnny Rotten's band Public Image Ltd. His first concert with The Pack took place on August 18, 1979 at the Electric Ballroom in London, on September 9, 1979 The Pack played as the opening act for the Nina Hagen Band at the Lyceum in London. A final single, King Of Kings, followed in November 1979 on Rough Trade Records, and on November 7, 1979 they played their last concert in front of a sold-out crowd at the 101 Club in Clapham. Kirk disbanded the band and withdrew from the music industry for a while. (source: wiki)

DISORDER - Fake Heads EP 1981

Nice EP by this dutch four piece called Disorder from IJsselstein and they released their only record on their own Fake Heads label. They were active in the Eighties and the band consisted of Harold (vocals), Riks (guitars), Marcel (bass), Ron (drums). Known for their rough sound and energetic live performances. and this piece of wax is a small contribution of the important scene of that time. The EP contains six minimalistic tracks that rather untypically reflect the genuine Punk sound of the era, with catchy melodies and critical lyrics. The EP is self-released, which was not unusual at the time, as many bands tried to establish themselves independently of major record labels. Although Disorder did not achieve the same level of fame as some of their contemporaries, they still left a certain influence in the nederland scene and are appreciated by collectors and fans and their music and D.I.Y. attitude are characteristic of the early 1980s.
