V/A - Nos Années Punk 1977-1980 [2002]

Last X-Mas post and it's an interesting Compilation which was released in 2002, and this Sucker compiles both sides of previous singles from renowned French combos at the heyday of fresh, rough and awesome music. Most of them are probably familiar to you because the original 7Inches are in the blog and many are also represented on other comps. You see, the sell-out continue again and again and again...... I mean, it's okay but always the same songs is a bit boring, but what do I know? This part comes with detailed informations, but unfortunately only in French. Well, apparently only intended for the local Punkrocker. Whatever, the music speaks the language that everyone understands and overall it's a good one.

V/A - Kylmää Joulua! 1978

My contribution on today's date, and you know this time is nothing spectacular for me, but I'm not alone on this earth, but here is something special for you: Kylmää Joulua! (A Cold Christmas!) is the Finnish Christmas greeting that was released 1978 by the essential Poko Rekords as a 12Inch as promotional use, which includes ten splendid Punk and Rock versions of traditional Christmas carols by early Finnish combos. At the time, only 500 copies of the album were pressed, and it was distributed free of charge to partners and close friends of the bands appearing on the album, among others. In 2007, a remastered CD version of the album appeared, which was printed in thousand copies and this file is this version, the original is damn rare and an expensive affair these days. The back cover said that the B-side contains the song 'Silent Night' performed by an Orchestra called "Tampere Chamber Ensemble", but in fact nothing was pressed on it. Enjoy!

1.Joulutarina - TIERNAPOIKA
2.Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer - TEDDY & THE TIGERS
3.Soihdut Sammuu - POPEDA
4.Run Rudolph Run - VOX

V/A - East 1980

It's really terrible what's only coming out of the radio today, of course I don't need to hear it, but while my eyes are watering from cutting onions, Hardcore/Punk isn't efficient, so I just stop working in the kitchen and focus on the next slab, which isn't at the top of the British Punkrock region, although the bands all have an excellent PowerPop/Punk to offer, but apart from the Cigarettes and Half Life, the others remained largely unknown to me. Well, this big Nugget was released via Dead Good Records and has all infos and fifteen fantastic X-Mas songs you need.... a fresh and sweet sounding record... back for preparing dinner, Bon Appétit!

1.Stay Inside - THE CIGARETTES
2.Madame Blues - FATAL CHARM
3.Comalife - WHIZZ KIDS
4.Man On A Threshold - B-MOVIE
5.Looking At You - THE CIGARETTES
6.Poison - PSEUDO EXISTORS
7.Contact - SINCERE AMERICANS
8.Refugee - B-MOVIE
9.Someone - WHIZZ KIDS
10.Steve Biko - HALF LIFE
11.High Rise Failures (Dub) - VICK SINEX & THE NASAL SPRAYS
12.Beyond The Zone - PSEUDO EXISTORS
13.Frivolous Disguises - THE CIGARETTES
14.Stoned Loving - FATAL CHARM
15.Spend The Night Alone - FATAL CHARM

THE SKEPTIX - Peace Force EP 1981

Second 7Inch by this StokeOnTrent band and the four are welcome guests in my house. Another well-recorded Skeptix release. They’ve contributed two more killer thrash numbers, one with some interesting drum parts (“War Drum”), the other with a metallic guitar solo (the title track). The EP is rounded out by a slower cut called “Another Day.” (Jeff Bale, MRR #14 • June 1984) That's not surprising because their sawing music is exactly my taste and they regret the fact that their first album was released via the German ROR label, today more than ever. This three track EP was released via Zenon Records and is another good one of the Skeptix and they recorded until 1983, when unfortunately Fish (guitars) left the band to join Discharge. By 1985 the Skeptix had split up.

PRLJAVO KAZALIŠTE - Televizori 12'' 1978

Prljavo Kazalište are one of the longest lasting bands from the former Yugoslavia (today Croatia), and this little 12Inch is the first work by the five from Zagreb and appeared via Jugoton and offers three rockin' mid-tempo tunes with a fantastic greasy guitar soundNumerous albums/7Inches, Compilation contributions have they made and their popularity at home is correspondingly high. You can read more about the band on the web, there is a lot of material available. I have to go to the train station now, my vacation starts today and there will be more interesting and rare stuff to come... I promise. So stay tuned!

CHAOTIC YOUTH - Sad Society EP 1983

Not really new in Blogland and it's not my rip but this is okay because I like this EP by Chaotic Youth, a four piece from Beith/North Ayrshire and this is their debut record which came via Beat The System!! Records. The band consisted of Tommy (vocals), Ian (guitars), Ricky (bass), John (drums) and they recorded a demo tape in 1981 which came out on vinyl via Nausea Records in 2022. Officially they only made this 7Inch and I guess the band wasn't long lasting either, but they appear on some interesting Compilations. Very good single with positive vibes in a fine Beatpunk mode. No more posts today, I'm again in a hurry so what the Fuck...

INFERNO - The Son Of God EP 1985

This first 7Inch by Inferno was first released only in the USA because the four were very popular (read this review: "fast, ferocious, and fun in the Inferno tradition. These German maniacs tear it up and spit it out in a furious thrash slaughter. Crazed guitar bitings with forceful vocals make this another unique platter." (Pushead, MRR #28 • September 1985) there with their aggressive Hardcore/Punk and the crowd needed food. This is the second pressing on Campary Records (1989) with a different cover and two songs from it appeared on the refreshing Compilation What Doesn't Hurt Us Makes Us Stronger from the Berlin based label Destiny Records and as far as I know the third track can be only found on this sucker but I could be wrongThe lyrics are all fantastic, clear and unambiguous, and anyone with sense and clarity in their hearts can only agree with this, to that their excellent sound makes clear why the band were so loved overseas, and that's saying something. Inferno is always a good choice to push your troubles far far away. Splendid!

HALF LIFE - Under The Knife EP 1986

Four piece from Pittsburgh who were active in the Eighties and Half Life consisted of Jeff (vocals), Vince (guitar), Mike (bass), Damon (drums) and this is their debut 7Inch on Mind Cure Records with four perfect smasher. A review: "One of the better sounding domestic HC releases in a while. Good power and production on all four tracks, and although it’s mainly generic metal-influenced hardcore, there’s a gripping urgency that carries it off. Lyrics are pretty bleak, although “Consider The Alternative” offers some hopeful thought." (Tim Yohannan, MRR #45 • February 1987) In addition to their first demo from 1985, they have each released two 7Inches and albums, featured on some good Compilations as well, and in 2002 the last testament was brought via Stab Wound in form of a CD with the nostalgic name All Our Yesterdays which definitely sounds interesting. Fazit: cool record in every way and I hope, I can spend more time with the blog this fucking weekend.

ALOHA FROM HELL - Shark Attack! EP 1997

The first contact I had with Aloha From Hell from Rodgau came about at a street festival in Frankfurt, where the three, Steinbernd (vocals/guitar), Inga (bass/vocals), Billy (drums), had a great performance and then I absolutely had to buy their 7Inch and also had a short chat with the guys, very very friendly. Short info from their bandcamp site: "The trio exists since 1996 and is closely linked to Rock'N'Roll, Surf and Rockabilly. Their passion for handmade music and joy in playing has made the band a safe bet for fans of extraordinary live concerts. By switching between electric bass and double bass, the band's musical spectrum is further expanded and fows between genres. Always with a certain garage factor and their own sound." This four fine surf beat stomper quality track EP is their debut record and was released in an edition of 500 by Kamikaze Records and to date they have released three more vinyl goodies. Check out these buddies and enjoy this upbeat hip-swaying music!

STIFF LITTLE FINGERS - At The Edge EP 1980

Today a classic 7Inch by Stiff Little Fingers and I think it's their fifth 7Inch which came via Chrysalis with three brilliant tracks, At The Edge was the appetizer from their second brilliant album Nobody's Heroes, the B-side is equipped with two live pieces. What should I say? This is excellent music and anyone who has ever seen the Fingers live, myself included, knows how energetic and playful they perform their gigs, a pleasure in every way. I recommend getting their albums because the power and quality of their songs are some of the best Irish Punkrock Invasion.
