V/A - Killed By Death #26 1996

You know with a KBD Sampler you can't do nothing wrong, right? # 26 is a collectionn of early canadian punk from 1977 - 80. Unfortunately, this is one of the harder KBD's to find. It's also one of the best! Much of what is on here is already well known. D.O.A. (two live cuts), The Action & Viletones along with one Forgotten Rebels (Angry) are pretty. Even with the three Smash The State volumes covering a lot of the lesser known bands, a better effort than this could have been put forth. Once more a fine limited (1000 copies) Compilation from the series which I highly appreciate. Brand new and also great Bloodstains Across Canada with more rare Canada stuff.

1.Nazi Training Camp - D.O.A.
2.TV's On The Blink - THE ACTION
3.Danger Boy - THE VILETONES
4.Backdoor To Hell - THE VILETONES
5.To Have Some Fun - THE UGLY
6.Shoeshine Boy - THE CURSE
7.Killer Bees - THE CURSE
8.Angry - FORGOTTEN REBELS
9.National Unity - FORGOTTEN REBELS
10.What Do You Want Me To Do? - POINTED STICKS
11.Love Is Shit (It's Goodbye) - DISHRAGS
12.Steppin' Stone - CARDBOARD BRAINS
13.Want Some Bondage - D.O.A.
14.Step Out Tonight - MODS
15.Past Is Past - DISHRAGS
16.Do The Strangle - THE ACTION

EINLEBEN - Bunt 1996

Continue with one of my favorite bands, these guys from Wasserberg, the band has been named after a EA80 song and they have lots of gigs played together. I had the good fortune to visit some of these fantastic concerts and got to know the members itself. Very sympathetic contemporaries. Einleben exists from 1994 - 2002 and played german punk with challenging lyrics and of course some resemblance to the Boxhamsters and EA80. Ballads are such much in their repertoire as fast aggressive punk pieces and it is this mix that makes their sound unique. Far from the current scrap. For those of you who don't know Einleben begin here with their brilliant first album and discover all their other releases. TIP!

WILLY WONKAS - Psycho Girl EP 2000

Here we have band from Seveso/Italy with their lone EP and they may have suffered a chemical damage which they mutate into evil punks. The proof is the five short Punk Rock smashers with offensive lyrics and a melodic hardcore garage sound. Released in purple vinyl by the american label Intensive Scare Records. Rocks definitely and brings your neighbors certainly out of their well-deserved siesta.

TROTZ ALLEM - s/t EP 1983

Long time nothing from Switzerland and I change this with this rare obscure EP which was released on Soilant Records. The band is called Trotz Allem from Aarau and this is their only record. An all-female band, five girls on bass, drums and vocals. Seven pretty minimalist songs in a decent recorded sound. Three of the five girls are on the mic and the polyphonic singing comes very nice. Musically perhaps not sophisticated but the girls make this really good and I like their D.I.Y. style. The cover art is designed very ornate, a nice fold-cover in which the single waits for you, decorated with colorful hand-painted pics and a lyric-sheet. Amazing lot for such a small unknown pearl from the Alps. I am always delighted when I discover such elaborate works of art (and sometimes the music doesn't matter). But with Trotz Allem everything is perfect. They were present on three tape compilations with more nervous tracks which all were released in the mid 80s, see discogs. Rundes Teil, check for yourself!

X-S DISCHARGE - Life's A Wank EP 1980

Groucho Marxist Record Co:Operative was a small independent label from Paisley run by printer Tommy Kayes, a member of a Clydeside Anarchist group. Overall were issued two V/A EP's, an EP by X-S Discharge and a single by Defiant Pose during the period 1979-81. More about the label and the Paisley Punk scene can be found above. On this rare record this very talented scottish punk band from Paisley fire here four extraordinary grenades into the universe. I think the Scottish bands are very different from the English punks, here's more pop and melody in the music. I guess this is due to the cozy Scottish mentality and they are far ahead of the busy urbanites. I know it well too when I'm outside of Frankfurt and visit the countryside, the people are somehow relaxed as we. Well, for that here's more action. Certain is, this Scottish gem is a brilliant record from a really good band, also worth mentioning here the lyrics. You will like it, I promise.

THE BO-WEEVILS - That Girl 7'' 1986

The Bo-Weevils (1985–1997) were a Melbourne, Australia based psychedelic rock band blending psychedelic music, pop music, garage rock and rock music. Their early garage incarnation was a lot easier to classify and won fans easily, but the band evolved away from these roots from the late 1980s into more cerebral and accomplished directions. They had a dedicated cult following in Australia and Europe during the late 1980s to mid 1990s, and performed many impassioned local shows as well as tours to Sydney, Adelaide and Wellington. Elements of their sound are similar to aspects of successful contemporary Australian bands of the time, such as Died Pretty, Hoodoo Gurus, The Stems & The Church as well as American groups Green on Red and The Dream Syndicate. Bass player Neil Rogers has been described as a 'doyen' of Australian Music by Music Journalist Patrick White of The Age, for his 20 years as a DJ on Melbourne Radio Station 3RRR. Rogers continues to host the Aus Mood show on a Thursday evening playing exclusively Australian acts.

FEGA PÅHOPP - Pärlor Åt Svinen 7'' 1980

A few hours left before I must out, time for one more rare record from Stockholm with this two track 7''. Fega Påhopp (Coward Attacks) were an all girl '77 pop-punk band and they released their only record via a small label called Silence Zing Records in 1980. They did a lot of gigs around Sweden, often at feminist festivals and they sound punk but were never influenced by any other punkbands at the time. But both songs here are fantastic and insane shrieking at the end of the second track is amazing. After the release of the single the band split up and changed their name into Tetra Pack but with rather limited success. What remains are these two power/pop-punk pearls which will every '77 style lovers, like me, pleasantly surprise.

STEREOTYPES - Countdown EP 1979

Before I went out to enjoy the sun here another classic from the Wanted-List. The Stereotypes were formed in late 1977 in Ilford/Essex and they released this damn cool record 1979 on Hinterland Records in an edtition of 100 copies. Extreme rare and extreme cool. Four fuzzy punk anthems and the EP is a part of Bored Teenagers #6 on Bin Liner Records (which is anyway worthwhile). Listen to this little cat with a cold beer and that's it for today, cheers!

- Special Thx goes to Bruce -
