V/A - SST Acoustic 1991

First post for today and I have a big hangover of too much drinkin' yesterday, puhhhhhh - so here we go: SST Records is a record label formed in 1978 in Long Beach, California by Greg Ginn. It was originally an electronics company called SST (Solid State Transformers). The label was a prominent figure in the L.A. punk scene around 1980 and 1981, releasing more albums by Black Flag as well as Minutemen, Descendents, and Stains and has since remained a major symbol of the city's underground culture. SST quickly branched out in its early years to release albums by bands outside of the southern California area. All these songs on this album are released but came here together in a different version and every song is cool and shows that PUNK is no being brainwashed by fuckin' MTV or other sources and this LP shines through without all the studio tricks. I know ya’ll are excited so I won’t make you wait any longer to get this solid album with massive hits!!!!!

V/A - How Will You Know What This Record Sounds Like If You Don't Listen To It 1987

Last post today brings us a benefit Compliation for the AJZ Ludwixhafen and the bands all from Germany except Disperazione from Italy. A colorful mix of punk, hardcore, a few live tracks and a little obscure stuff and special mention here are the bands which contribute each song, known and unknown bands and I mean this is a perfect combination. Released I think, in a limited edition and now hard to get. My copy I bought on ebay and unfortunately with no booklet. Too bad, so I can give no further information on but it's not necessary. Regardless, every song is brilliant, no failures, recorded exclusively for this compilation. Sounds neither embarrassing or boring, see for yourself, enjoy this pretty rare record and have fun!

V/A - Killed By Death #007 2000

In principle I like almost every Killed By Death compilation LP but in this I was very excited so far. The track list here reads like a historical event, equipped with tons of rarities nowadays which are only still available at exorbitant prices. You can probably imagine how happy I am when this part of cream fluttered into my house. At this point, again my deep bow to you, Fredrik. I will not use more words about the music, only this: This compilation kicks every lame ass and shoots like a machine gun, volley to volley, in your blood. Whoever here sits still is definitely disturbed. 1000 copies, I think, were made and this is a german release. Generally an awesome LP with no losers and nice to see some good French bands, especially Les Olivensteins, and the Remo Voor song is really cool as well. Pflicht-Download!!!!

V/A - Hamburg '88

The LP one's I had to sell due to lack of money and bought after a long time again. Well, sometimes the good things just come back to one, how life sometimes is. Only rare tracks on this compilation of good Hamburg bands right here at the start. The pretty cover of Billy Bragg's 'My Youngest Son' from Legendary Nice Boys (Slime members) is worth buying this record. But also the other bands here are very awesome and the sound range goes from '77 punk, hardcore to a little bit slightly metallic tunes (100% Diskretion). Ingeniously the three songs from Omicidio and I think these are the only cuts they made on vinyl. Would really like to hear more from them but found nothin'. Emils, C³I and Angeschissen, three awesome bands which you can grab also in this theatre. So finally, Punk in 1988 was a time of change with variable fresh sound and I can only highly recommend this record and I promise you will be thrilled.

1.Kicks - DESTINATION ZERO
2.Keine Antwort - C³I
3.Noiseless Scream - EMILS
4.Sprung Ins Leere - OMICIDIO
5.My Own Life - 100% DISKRETION
6.Schwein - ANGESCHISSEN
7.My Youngest Son - THE LEGENDARY NICE BOYS
8.Legale Mörder - EMILS
9.Packen Wir's An - C³I
10.Finsterer Tag - OMICIDIO

12.Kill The Nature - 100% DISKRETION
13.Allein Zu Zweit - ANGESCHISSEN
14.Prince Of Hell - EROSION
15.Skeptischer Blues - OMICIDIO

VAN HELLSING - Celestial Beggars EP 2003

The first side project from EA80 bassist Oddel called: Van Hellsing. Unfortunately, this is their only release to date (SwampRoom Records, 1000 copies) and I remember the concert in the cold February 2009 in Aachen, me and my beloved girl drove out there and I had terrible headaches and I already wanted to go back home but it was a wonderful exhilarating evening. Three bands were announced, the first is not worth talking about and when The Landlords entered the stage my mood was transformed and the beer suddenly tasted good. By the way, very charming people, the Landlords, bought here their first record and after good 45 minutes then Van Hellsing enter the stage and with their dirty garage rock & roll sound they got to boil the AZ. Galactic Appearance!!! After the gig we had a lot of fun and it was a long long night, ohh I remember it so well.....So if you have the chance to see them live, go and be amazed, but you must be lucky because they are finished but maybe they come back for a short blitz. So enjoy now four groovy numbers and let it rip.

V/A - Not So Humdrum 1984

Let's move to down under and visit Sydney and I'm in love with punk from there. This record is the second Aberrant Sydney Compilation and all three records are delicious. Every song's a killer and I can not say more than this is a real damn good record. In 1987 the french label Ripost Records put this album out again with a different cover and a 4-page info sheet which is not included [:(]. Anyway, enjoy great tunes from this area and watch out for the other two volumes.

Oi, now we move over the ocean and visit Canada and find this little sunshine called Smash The State Vol.1. And this compilation has it all. Eighteen early canadian punk smash hits and they just fits everything: brilliant bands with superior songs. Much much better than the second album for my taste. V/A - Going Nowhere Slow 1990

Another pearl is this international punk compilation. Released on the legendary german punk label Double A Records in 1990, the vinyl is marble red & yellow transparent and the bands on it are all incredible. Reiner uses his contacts to invite the bands to be part of this comp and this is one I can listen to everytime. Never boring spray all 17 songs an amazing power to me immediately straight into my heart. The successful mix of hardcore & melodic punk rock shows how many great bands were alive around the world. That's why I love such platters like these and I enjoy to listen to again & again. I think, this is the meaning of compilations at all. So if you love a varied sound grap fast and shake your ass.
