TELEGRAMA - Chica Del Metro 7'' 1982

Uhhhh, it was a bit much today, but I managed everything, and now another post. If you grabbed the Powerpearls Compi #2, you'll certainly have noticed this combo. I'm talkin' about this Spanish four piece PowerPop from Barcelona and they consisted of Berto (vocals/bass), José & Juan (guitars), Jordi (drums) and they released one 7Inch via Flor Y Nata Records. They later founded a new band called Hotel. Telegrama was a Mod/Powerpop revival group formed in 1980 in Badalona (Barcelona). The four members, then eighteen years old and from Alquitrán, decided to change their sound and rename themselves accordingly. After a year of touring Catalonia, they recorded two songs for this 7Inch in February 1982 @ Moraleda Studios: "Chica Del Metro" (Subway Girl) & "Jugando Sucio" (Playing Dirty). This was the first release on their newly founded label, Flor Y Nata Records. The artwork was by Manolo García, then with Los Rápidos and later with Los Burros and El Último De La Fila. The single was very well received, and the initial pressing of 1000 copies quickly sold out. Over time, it became a cult classic. Shortly after, in May, Telegrama filmed a music video for their single "Chica Del Metro" for the Spanish radio and television program "Pista Libre". The song was also included on the Compilation album "Locos Por La Música" (Crazy About Music), released via Pista Libre. The album also featured artists such as Parálisis Permanente, Derribos Arias & Zoquillos. Just as their success was reaching its peak, the band members were called up for military service. In December, they reunited to record a four-song Demo and played their final concert as Telegrama on December 23, 1982, @ the Metro in Barcelona. Both songs are superb and perfectly suited to the end of today.

Let's continue where I stopped yesterday, and yes, they exist: Volume Two!! A Mexican label called Chinga Tu Madre Recordz has pity and released this wonderful compilation in 600 handnumbered copies, 300 copies in green vinyl and 300 copies in black vinyl, with fifteen Spanish smasher and I think a worthy successor to the first record. Healthy mix, never boring and some 7Inches of the bands in the blog. V/A - La Repera 1996

Ah Fuck, unfortunately nothing with the DFB Cup yesterday and thus also next year not internationally present, after all a very good game of the SGE and congratulations to the black-yellows. Let's go to what's more pleasurable, talk about Get Baque Records. A private amateurish 'label' which specializes in rare stuff, mainly from Europe, and all music is ripped from original vinyls and it's 100% D.I.Y. and pressed in a limited edition. I think someone has digitized his record collection and shares this in form of CD-R with us, simple artwork to that and finished is a small musical highlight. I'm sure this is a lot work and takes toil and time but the result is worth the effort. This is the first GBR compilation with twenty Spanish rarities 1978-1983. Well, whether I would sell them is another story. So, thirty degrees today, time for sun.

PARÁLISIS PERMANENTE - Grabaciones Completas 81-83

Back to Spain and direct to Madrid where Parálisis Permanente at home. The band was originally formed by Eduardo (guitars) and Nacho (bass), along with their siblings Javier (vocals) and Johnny (drums) around 1981. This formation recorded an EP, later included in their 1995 compilation Singles y Primeras Grabaciones. After Javier left the band, Eduardo became the lead singer and their sound became darker. In their short time they released one album plus three 7inches, all on three Cipreses. Represented on numerous compilations, which can be found even here. Eduardo died in a car accident in May, 1983 returning from a gig, and the band split up. So enjoy this great sound and have a nice weekend.

Today is again Sunday and I have only this one for regeneration. So I use my time today for this Tape compilation which was released anno 1993 via Bazofia 'Zine and its full with great spanish punk stuff, some bands are known others not. A decent song selection and when you love the Iberian style like me you will not be disappointed. No idea but I'm currently in this country, I wanna move to the sun, I hate this cold season...maybe over Christmas, let's see. Make something beautiful today and enjoy sixty minutes of classics!

V/A - El Pecado Original 1986

Accidentally found on my hard drive this superb compilation of another explicit example of Madrid bands and this record is a rare item and I listen now a second time to this. The whole was released via Discos Radioactivos Organizados (DRO), one of the first Spanish independent labels, and is without a doubt simply genial. A healthy mixture of post-punk, synth pop and new wave rush herein and most of the songs had not been published previously. This is all you have to know... I think, I hit myself in bed, sleep enters again.

V/A - Bloodstains Across Spain 1997

I finish the month of March with this pretty compilation of bands from Spain. In this country, we were happy to host and I can recommend anyone to visit this land. There's a lot historical to see, pleasant climate, people who talk like a machine gun, delicious food ... and finally cool music. Reliable and rare material from the early 80s is impressively cobbled together and for me one of the best Bloodstains records. I think no more than 500 copies were pressed - Anyway, sit back and enjoy!!!
