AMDI PETERSENS ARMÉ - Blod Ser Mere Virkeligt Ud På Film EP 2002

Now an older post and I thought this sucker is guest in this program, but false alarm... time for change and here it is: Amdi Petersens Armé is a raw Hardcore combo from Copenhagen and this is their second 7Inch on Havoc Records and six trashy intense goodies were recorded by Amdi Peter (vocals/guitars), Tommas (bass) and Skralle (drums) in March 2002 and if you like early U.S. Hardcore stuff then this is the right shit for your sensitive ears. After a tour through the USA in summer 2002, they broke up. A few members went on to perform in Gorilla Angreb and No Hope For The Kids. For anyone unfamiliar, APA played early-’80s-style hardcore that got many comparisons to early Minor Threat, though they were always a bit more complex than that, and certainly transcended the harDCore comparisons by the time of their second EP. Interesting to know that in 2013 Hjernespind Records released a Discography which features both EPs plus compi tracks, their demo & some unreleased songs, limited edition of 200 LP's, I take it!

NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS - Das Reich 7'' 2003

One of my favourite bands here and I recommend you to buy their stuff wherever you see a record. Some info from wikipedia: No Hope for the Kids is a Danish punk band that originated from the punkculture evolving around the Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen and they were active from 2003-2007. Kasper Maarbjerg had earlier played in the punkbands Hul and Asbest, while the drummer Peter Bonneman is a former member of Amdi Petersens Armé. No Hope for the Kids plays a type of punk that is influenced by early English punk pre-hardcore, also incorporating heavy rock elements. The lyrics of the songs, sung in both English and Danish, evolves around war, death and depression. The group achieved some popularity in the hardcore punk scene, both in Denmark and abroad, mostly by word of mouth when it released its first single, especially in the United States. The band, in addition to other bands like Gorilla Angreb and Amdi Petersens Armé, was part of a wave of interest abroad for Danish punk. This led to tours both in Europe and the USA. Ronni Dybdahl and Kasper Maarbjerg also plays in the spoof band The Natzees. Their debut 7'' Das Reich from 2003, with a first pressing of 300, was quickly sold out and are now a collector's item sold for exorbitant prices at auction sites like eBay. But there is a 2nd pressing on white vinyl, too, but those are even rarer. The band's debut album was released on vinyl in 2003 by the now defunct Danish label Kick'n'Punch. Titled No Hope for the Kids, it is sometimes wrongly labelled as Storkøbenhavn because the bandmembers on the coverphoto is placed next to the citylimits sign with Storkøbenhavn written on it. The album was released on CD in 2004 by the American label Feral Ward. 2006 saw the release of the Angels Of Destruction 7'' on the label Backwards Masking. The song 'Angels Of Destruction' had previously been released in 2003 on the Danish compilation København I Ruiner on the Kick'n'Punch label. In 2006 the song Treblinka appeared on the punk-compilation Public Safety released by American punkrock magazine MaximumRocknRoll. The self-titled album has now been reissued a third time by Danish label Hjernespind (since the demise of Kick'n'Punch). In January 2008 Hjernespind released an EP which is a reissue of the songs from the bands two singles.

Here's a brilliant review about this awesome double 7'' compilation from systemphobia and I like to use these words because it describes the music here perfect and I agree with that. "If you consider yourself a punk you should have the following record. Kick 'n Punch isn't just another label, it released of the best records of the early 21st century and managed to put Denmark firmly back on the punk map. This double EP gives a nice cross section of what bands the label has signed throughout the years: Amdi Petersen Armé, the almighty Gorilla Angreb, Uro, No Hope For The Kids, Asbest, Paragraph 119 to name a few. Most stuff is straight forward punk/hardcore that brings back to mind the glorious days of the euro punk scene. Sadly the label is no longer around but one of the guys who ran the label continued as Hjernespind Records. They release awesome stuff, check 'm out." HUL - Den Danske Ungdom... 2001

Danish Dynamite from Copenhagen by HUL and the line-up consisted of Kasper (vocals), Morton (guitars), Mads (bass), Morten (drums) and their only album came out via 9 Lives Records in an edition of 500 copies. An apt review from the 2009 re-release: "Pre Amdi Petersens Armé, Young Wasteners, and No Hope For The Kids, etc… and this is the crème de la crème. Den Danske Ungdom is an impeccable record and it’s a desert island pick for sure. This record is a beast, from the first drop of the needle your hit with a wave of fervid urgency and power, that first guitar lick forever etched into one’s brain. The vocals are so pure and honest with such youthful vigor and abhorrence with every squeak and prepubescent crack being utter hardcore perfection. The songs so original/memorable you’ll want to flip this record over and over again until you’ve retained all its beauty; how often is the first record or output by a group of kids this accomplished? I’m writing all this now without having listened to it in over a week. It’s just one of those records that is an instant classic, a true rarity in today’s saturated heap of terrible to mediocre records. What I’m saying is this is a scorched earth policy. HJERTESTOP - Åårh Fuck..Det Er HjerteStop! EP 2005

Copenhagen's Hjertestop is another amazing fast european punk band making a name for itself through putting out kick-ass singles and playing as many shows as possible. They're reminiscent of label mates Amdi Petersens Armé. This six-song EP is a magnum opus, and has enough US distribution that no self-respecting fan of fast hardcore can make excuses for not picking it up. Enjoy this EP....it's great.
