THE DIESE HERREN - Hunger! 12" 1982

Obscure four piece from Hagen and Hunger! is their only vinyl appearance, released in a limited edition of 500 copies on Tonträger 58 Hagen, and the band consisted of Frank (vocals), Günter (guitars), Detlef (bass), Peter (drums). Besides this 12Inch, the band had a couple of compilation invitations, and I mean "a couple". Musically enjoyable five entertaining numbers which doesn't necessarily contribute to global warming, but if you want to create a podcast with early rare German contemporaries, you should listen to the Herren and make use of it. Interesting slab in any case and now I'm going to have a five-course meal for breakfast & don't be jealous, friends. 🍠

  1. Never heard of them although I'm German. Only Nena and Extrabreit became famous from that city (Hagen). Curios what they sound like, the band name is funny, anyway ("The These Gentlemen", with the English article).

  2. Hagen had a small NDW/Punk scene, a fine example is this compilation: https://www.discogs.com/de/Various-Alles-Aus-Hagen/release/1094843

  3. You are right, there are some more names on that compilation that ring a bell.

  4. I'm really impressed of how good they were! Not the least bit of stupid "funny" 2nd-wave NDW but great post punk, sung in German, very original and without mimicking anybode else! Only 500 made, no wonder this EP is quite costly at Discogs. Thanks for sharing!
