FLYBOYS - s/t 12'' 1980

I know, I posted this splendid little mini 12'' in my old blog, back then in a lousy quali, but now it has been renewed and came fluttering in by a stork. The last record by the Flyboys from Arcadia/California on Frontier Records, the label of that time, which made essential slabs that are very sought nowadays, no wonder at this high level. The band was formed 1975 and on those last shots were present Jon-Boy (vocals/guitar), Thames (guitar), Scott (bass) and Denny (drums), they released their debut single (1000 copies) in 1977, their second 1979 and their last see above. The Flyboys catch you with no-frills mid-tempo powerpop/punk that can run stress-free at any workplace and even your girlfriend convinced, because you always hear such dirty basement stuff. Present on compilations since the 90s, one of them the fantastic Killed By Death #1010011010 slab. The band broke finally up in 1980.

V/A - Killed By Death #1010011010 2002

I think, it's time for another rare compilation from the grandiose Killed By Death series, today we dedicate ourselves to the 300 copies slab by Teenage Lust Records and meet twenty howlin' punk anthems of 1977-1982. The detectives convince with healthy taste and I think, the mix with well-known classics and pieces that are found somewhere on hard-to-get singles is fucking felicitous. Exact my bottle of Hefe and the right sound for breakfast! Admit, you've been waiting for this a long time...

THE CROWD - Punk Off 2001

The Crowd is a band from Huntington Beach and were formed about 1978 by brothers Jim and Jay Decker and guitarist Jim Kaa, later joined by drummer Dennis Walsh (former Flesh Eaters and Flyboys). Punk Off is their fourth and so far last album, released via Unity Squad Records, with thirteen solid pieces. I didn't know the band in this form at all and I'm not really a fan of newer punk rock, but this slab does a decent job.

- Great Thx to Reinhard -
