EA80 - Schweinegott 1998

One of the longest running Punk bands in the German underground world and "with their eighth album, the guys have proven that EA80 is far from out of breath. The band has managed to produce twelve varied songs in a very innovative way, some of which leave well-trodden paths. Sometimes dark and melancholic, sometimes noisy and dissonant, the band furiously fires their entire complex sound spectrum into the ether." Comes on request and normally I don't start an EA80 record with a review, but here I like to because I agree. The sound is more dirtier and more aggressive, not untypical I'd like to say because they're a Punk band and the Four are able to write such pleasant crackers, and the production is similar to Grüner Apfel but a bit more powerful and energetic, that kicks and shoots the band into the new century, I'd like to mean. Driving and manic hymns meet twelve soulful and dynamic ass kickers like no other band in this country can do, unique and uncopyable. They underline impressively why they rightly have an absolutely exceptional status in our music scene, a real obstacle for everyone who doesn't understand the lyrics but if you really want to, you can translate their words and you see what's going on. Sometimes disturbing, but a real exceptional band and not without reason their gigs are always full & attractive. I've seen many and I hope there will be coming more.

Enough words, enjoy every song/sound and discover EA80 for yourself, it will be a pleasant journey like a holiday in Crete! Εβίβα!

THE EJECTED - Game Of Survival! 2017

After the split in 1983, the Ejected reformed in 2014 (for the TNT festival in Hartford, Connecticut during Labor Day Weekend and played at the Rebellion Punk Festival in Blackpool) and released their third album two years later. Line-up are Jim (vocals), Jonny (guitars), Paul (bass), Toby (drums) and this is the fourth record on Randale Records with fourteen aggressive, for the bands typical short & crispy sound, smasher. You can clearly tell that they have retained their fantastic sense of humor and are still able to write catchy songs. For all those who don't know their first slab, A Touch Of Glass (1982), let me say: definitely listen! I don't know if the guys are still active (their last album came out in 2018) but one thing is for sure, the Ejected are great and have a place in English Punk history.

V/A - Rebelie Punk'N'Oi! 1990

Let's go a bit exotic with the first release by the Monitor label and it's a decent mix of Punk and Oi! bands and the label selected the best "pieces" at that time from the Czech region to begin with. Well, for my taste it takes a little getting used to, because the quality is different than what I am used to, and sometimes a bit tiring. There are some reviews you can read for yourself and there are also cool songs on this Compilation and it certainly has a firm place in the history of Czechoslovak subculture, but somehow I miss the WOW! effect and after the slab's over, it's good too. Anyway, put on the music and absolutely suitable for a start into the new week.

V/A - Teenage Rebel ... Der Sampler #1 1995

This Compilation presents you excerpts from the not unimportant label Teenage Rebel Records from Düsseldorf, which was founded at the end of the eighties, therefore are mainly bands from this area here at home. There were four editions of this series, which mostly appeared in a cardboard sleeve, and in addition to 'old' bands, some of which were newly formed at the time, the range of 'new' German bands is not uninteresting and many such Compliations were available as inserts in renowned fanzines (Wahrschauer, Ox, ZAP etc..), an original idea I think, for less money you can come to new music and choose what you like accordingly. When I ripped this CD I thought it wouldn't be read because there are some deep scratches on it but the player did an excellent job and ran brilliantly, so here it is: a cool selection of cool songs and I guess there is something for everybody!

ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT - The Oi! Collection 1997

"Formed as Cardiac Arrest in Epping, Essex, in 1978. They changed their name when found out about another band with same name. They recorded three singles, all produced by The Damned’s Rat Scabies. Their original bassist Matt Johnson later founded The The. They went through a number of line ups before settling on one that would record the majority of their material: Gavin Gritton on vocals, Nick Freeston on drums, Haggis on lead guitar, and Kevin Read on bass. The first gig was in 1979. The band initially only went on to play around 25 shows but, as it says in the liner notes to the Compilation of all of their work compiled by Captain Oi! Records in 1997, 'the name Anti-Establishment is still held in high esteem amongst the Oi!/Punk Fraternity'. This eighteen track collection gathers together all of the band's studio recordings, included the singles plus twelve previously unreleased demos. A great collection of one of the Oi! scene’s unsung heroes."

THE RUDES - Join The Army! EP 2008

The Rudes were a four piece from Tours and consisted of Lionel (vocals), Farid (guitars), Greg (bass), Simn (drums) and they really didn't exist long and this is their only EP on Une Vie Pour Rien? with three very good Oi!/Punk pieces and it's really a shame that the group no longer exists because they have the potential to become an important group like the Tour De France (that was a remarkably exciting race today)In any case a very good slab and absolutely suitable for the French holiday, what do you think?

V/A - Blackpool Rox EP's Vol.1 & 2 1980/83

Well, the day before yesterday I was asked about these two EP's and I said no, and today I can post them here and who made this possible you can see below, so thank the donor. A bit Info to Volume 1 from inside: "George Formby once sang, suggestively, about his 'little stick of Blackpool Rock'... then.... nothing, until John Robb sorted out this EP of Bands from Blackpool. Naturally featuring The Membranes, with their best ever tune in all its DIY glory, and the most famous doomy dance band from Lancashires premier seaside resort, Section 25....being suitably 'Doomy'. The other two groups are yer standard New Wave power pop combos of which there were several in any UK town, village or linear settlement that you'd care to mention." The 2nd one starts with Sign Language and it's one more great song, check their 12Inch. Love 30 come with a sluggish instrumental which is rather unspectacular, driving and with a dominant creaky guitar. Fifth Column sounds a bit muddled with charming electronic beeps and last but not least, Crack House, who bring the Jesus fairy tale closer to you non-believers with pounding rhythms.

1.Ice Age - THE MEMBRANES
2.Red Voice - SECTION 25
3.Overload - THE KENNETH TURNER SET
4.Dot Dot - SYNTAX
5.The Killing - SIGN LANGUAGE
6.Touchdown - LOVE 30
7.Laugh While You Can - FIFTH COLUMN
8.Jesus Loves You - CRACK HOUSE

VERLORENE UNSCHULD - V.U. 12'' 1984

One more older rip now and we drive to Berlin and meet this five piece called V.U. (Verlorene Unschuld) and after two nice 7Inches they recorded their last record in 1984 with a different line-up: Daniel (vocals/guitar/keyboards), Andreas (guitars), Jörg (bass), Michael (drums), released via Pool Records. The Punk factor has dropped considerably, although it wasn't high anyway. But lyrically they are critical of the fucking system and the poppy undertone fits very well. It's not a slab you absolutely must have, but listen once and you can have a say. Everyone should have fifteen minutes of your time ready, so be generous.

SIGN LANGUAGE - Belief And Other Propaganda.... 12'' 1986

Interesting find from this Blackpool four piece featuring Laurence (vocals), Paul (guitar), Simon (bass) & Damian (drums) and I apparently missed the original post from 2008 by C.G. on his Phoenix blog back then and so it's only natural to dig up those four track 12'' again. "This beauty was their only release and an early one on Fire Records. Sign Language formed in 1981 as a Punkband but moved more to a New Wave/Post-Punk sound over the years. The band has reformed and occasionally do some low-key gigs. There's another song 'The Killing' that appears on the 2nd 'Blackpool Rox' Compilation issued on Vinyl Drip Records.Well, that's all the info I have on the band, but musically this slab is an absolute treasure. Dynamic rhythms with great guitars, powerful and hardly polished, jagged and with tempo. So I really wonder, why didn't came out more? The potential was definitely there.

U.K.SUBS - Endangered Species 1982

Fourth album by the UK Subs and few words are needed because the band around Charlie Harper is known to every Punkrocker in this universe. Lots of reviews you can find on the net and you can never do anything wrong with a Subs record, it's good at any time, every moment and I hardly know any other combo that can keep their level constantly high. It's a bit different compared to the first two albums, the songs are longer and contain less fast songs, but that's what I find interesting because another onetwothree action would be boring.
