PANX ROMANA - Antartes Poleon 1989

In 1989, Panx Romana released (always through Wipe Out Records), their second record Antartes Poleon [Urban Guerillas]. The platter contains thirteen tracks in all & their sound in this record is more akin to The Ramones & they even cover "Somebody Put Something In My Drink" under the title 'Supression Of The Marginalized'. Such classics as 'The Letter' and 'Vacation In The Army' transmit pretty much everything that the band ever stood for. Also notable is the instrumental 'Tien Amen'. A worthy successor to the first album.

FIENDENS MUSIK - s/t LP 1979

Here's more rare stuff from the three crowns country and with their debut 7inch 'En Spark Rätt I Skallen' the band break through. Fiendens Musik is located at the intersection of punk prog rock. Although they came to life late 1977, just punk begins, so let them not quite as punk, but somewhere between prog rock and punk. But good was it anyway and it does not prove at least their first album which is one of the best punk records released in Sweden. Their debut is just as cult as the plates at any time with Ebba Grön, KSMB or Attentat. Most of the songs on the album are incredibly good fast punkrock. Stand out a little plate making local radio, which is relatively quiet in comparison with the surrounding grooves. If you've never heard anything from the band before, you must immediately throw you over the song "En Spark Rätt I Skallen", a kick right in the shells. Fiendens Musik has also released a second LP called "Häftiga Hästen & Andra Äventyr" which also has some good punk songs. Perhaps it could be a future project to provide it for incorporation into the Past? (Patrick Carlson)

SHAM PISTOLS - Natural Born Killer 2008

In 1979 ex-Pistols Cook & Jones teamed up with Sham's Pursey & Treganna to form a Punk Rock super group. Unfortunately it doesn't work, so only one studio session happened. The result: four catchy tracks, sounding exactly like The Professionals with Pursey on vocals. On the flip side you'll get the 4 encore tracks of Sham's Last Stand (Apollo Theatre, Glasgow). Way back in 1979, the “merger” of the Sex Pistols with Sham 69 caused, for a brief moment, a great deal of excitement. With Johnny now in PiL and Sid dead, both fans and the press waited eagerly for news on Steve and Paul's next move. By May '79 it seemed the answer was known. The boys would be joined by Sham 69's Jimmy Pursey and Dave “Kermit” Treganna. Known for the time being as the Sham Pistols – until a name could be settled on - they went into Manor Studios, Oxford, to lay down some tracks. By August the group was in tatters. It took over 30 years for these songs to emerge. Enjoythem. As for the vinyl pressing itself, the quality of the recordings is very good, if slightly muddy. Side two adds weight to this. Recorded live at Glasgow Apollo, when Steve and Paul appeared for Sham 69's encore in June ‘79, Pursey can be heard bigging himself up, ranting that he told Steve and Paul to get rid of McLaren then he would sing for them, alongside his tales of how he's in the newspapers every day. The whole Sham Pistols episode had a detrimental effect on both camps. After the band fell apart, Pursey went on to reform Sham 69 but with limited success. Steve & Paul went into limbo before emerging a year later as The Professionals.

V/A - Killed By Death #40 1998

Starting September with one more fuckin' cool record and ripping a platter like this needs time and I'm not always in the mood for that. But here we go with another fine work, I am so free, haha.. "Strictly No English Or American Junk" on this release, 500 copies made, Redrum Records, Hell! Although Mister Fredrik has contributed greatly to this with his special contributions to wdthtc. Cheers again to You!!! So this volume does a nice job of featuring bands from places that haven't been covered before and overall the quality is pretty good with a lot of awesome killer tracks. And to be honest, I've not heard any weak KBD sampler and the detectives do once again a brilliant work. "Sid bless the man, who first had the idea to put out records like these."

GRENZFALL - Svarta Rosor 1983

New wave band from Gävle with their lone release on Mamma Records. Band members: Tony (vox), Ulf + Ola (bass), Michael + Bengt (guitars) and Robban (drums), founded 1979 and they made a first demo tape in 1981. Two more followed until finally this mini album came out with eight solid tunes. Grenzfall chat with their shallow melodic pop songs and are very pleasant to get awake. Listen for example on bandcamp and enjoy their music as well. I still have a lot's of to do's and it's getting hot again. Stay tuned!

THE BIPS - This Is Jurisdiction 7'' 1990

'77 punk-rock: that's The Bips from Nijmegen/Holland and they active since 1987. The music style is the old UK punk. TV, radio and a lot of stage experience. Played in major venues with major bands like UK Subs, Buzzcocks or The Briefs. Visit The Bips at home. Two songs found here and for me is the B-Side "The Fall Of The Perfect State" the winner. Cool platter! - Now it's Bundesliga time, must out :)

ICE 9 - Out Out Out EP 1979

Portland based Punkers Ice 9 with their lone record on Cool Records. Imagine, you walk through the city and you think of nothing special as suddenly in the sky a strange object appears and lands direct before you. An undefinable figure comes out and heads for you and press this small piece of vinyl in your hand. It says: Listen to this sound and you will see. Then it goes back, leaves a loud fart and disappears into the grey infinity. The moral of the story: It doesn't need a lot for a bright instant. - All three numbers are amazing and also to find on the KBD compilations.

TV21 - Playing With Fire 7'' 1980

Originally formed 1979 in Edinburgh by Norman (vox + guitar), Neil (bass), Colin (drums) and Ally (guitar), the band took their name from Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson's fanzine, TV21 released a string of singles and one album, 'A Thin Red Line' via Deram Records. During that time they toured extensively, both in their own right and as support to bands such as The Skids, The Moondogs and The Undertones. But by May 1982 the band had grown frustrated at their inability to break through to the next level and decided to quit while they were ahead, immediately after coming offstage supporting The Rolling Stones at Edinburgh Playhouse. And that was the end of that, until October 2005, when out of the blue, they agreed to perform as part of the John Peel Day gigs organised around the country to mark the anniversary of the DJ’s death. 'Playing With Fire' (released on Powerbeat) is their first record and it's a very nice PowerPop goodie with two melodic mid-tempo tunes, optimal for travelingThe sound goes immediately in my veins and makes me extreme positive. Honestly, this 7inch is a real highlight and I'm sure I'm going to catch the album.
