ANTIDRASH - Katastash Kindynou 1990

This band is quite awesome and their debut album is one of my favourite TOP! records, just like WBT and Anti-Band albums. And I recommend you to get this album now. Antidrash is a Hardcore/Punk band formed December 1985 in Athens, Greece. In March 1987 they released their 1st demo tape titled "Sick World" which was including 10 tracks and only 40 copies were distributed by Art Nouveau. Three months later, they released their 2nd demo tape (including 19 tracks) in 500 copies and was distributed exclusively in West Germany from the band's friends Nikos & Pavlos, who later founded Wreck-Age Records. A 3rd demo tape came out as a split with the greek punk group Stress. Their 1st official release came out in June 1989 in form from an EP called Blood In The Streets, released by Wipe Out! Records in 580 copies. This was the first ever Hardcore vinyl to be released in Greece. In Spring 1990, they entered the studio recording new songs for their first full-lenght album "Katastash Kindynou" (Danger Situation), which was released in Summer of the same year. After countless gigs, in Autumn '91, their second album Against was released. In 1996 they released their last 7" simply titled "E". In November 1998, they disbanded. After many years of absence, they reformed in 2005 and still active.

KLOPFERBANDE - Barbarei 1981

From Selters came Die Klopferbande. "Barbarism" was published in 1981 as a tape on Datenverarbeitung and certainly one of the best releases of the group. Some titles that are later appeared on „…Und Doch So Bezaubernd“ LP can also be found here already, but much rougher and more primitive versions. The New Wave Sound is still significantly influenced by punk, but they had already found their own style and is anything as a poor imitation. The lyrics describe a life in Germany in the early 80's and are rarely overtly political, but instead quite critical of society. Cinematically implemented would have to imagine as images of gray cement suburbs on cloudy, rainy fall days. Songs like "Das ist Rekord", "Karriere", "Lachen ist Gesund" or "Brauner Rhytmus" are small wave/punk hits. This awesome record was re-released in 2003 by Was Soll Das? Schallplatten and is limited to 150 copies.

RAFF - Six Balles Pour Un Colt! 1986

From Limoges/France came this Oi!/Punk band and this is their second album which was released at 77 Records. They were active from 1984 to 1986 and they released two singles and two albums. They play a good punk'n'roll sound with a decent tempo and the highlight is undoubtedly their cover version of Elvis' Love Me Tender. Otherwise much saxophone on all songs which I not always like, honestly I don't like this instrument at all and there are few songs in which it's mounted. Especially in the song 'Capitales', the weakest song on this Mini-LP, the blower gets on the nerves. Well, with a total of six songs one is shit I give at least 8 of possible 10 points. Raff are represented on those compilations: 1984 The 2nd and 77 Records Présente... - Fazit: not a bad album but with ups and downs.

FEED YOUR HEAD & AND THE 8TH SIN IS CALLED POP! - Split 1990

A lot of you request this album and it's no wonder why. Two great bands from the U.K. and Germany here. A few words to both bands: Feed Your Head are a band from the Manchester area that started around 1986. The name came from a very obvious song by Jefferson Airplane the very psychedelic 'White Rabbit'. In their life time they released three demos, two singles and two full length studio LP's. Plus featured on various compilations. F.Y.H. played live and toured with most of other punk bands in the scene at the time. The songs here are originally released on side 2 of the 'Stargazer' album which was released earlier in the U.K. & this provides the best material from that record. The 8th Sin Is Called Pop! are from Kiel and they released a split EP with Agitare Bene in 1989 and this 12'' called "Crown Of Thorns". Both bands playin' a decent melodic punk guitar which are supported by violins and this is unique here. Evey song is a race to get to the chorus, perfect harmonies mixed with a dash melancholy and done is the unusual punk rock album. This record should been seen as a triumph, Yeah, I love it!!

PROCES & STENGTE DØRER - Split EP 1985

Stengte Dører was a norwegian hardcore punk band located around the Blitz squat in Oslo and they played absolutely raging stuff in the vein of Kafka Process or So Much Hate. Proces was punk band from Subotica and were active in the mid 80's. Proces also convince with brilliant HC/Punk which is typical for this time. There are not represented on the Bloodstains Sampler, why else. Some copies came with a folded paper insert with lyrics of both bands translated in English. Cool EP!

DISCO ZOMBIES - Drums Over London 7'' 1979

I know this 7'' is already posted in many other blogs but the title track is covered by my favourite german punk band EA80 and so for me it is a must to post this pearl here again (for those of you who have not acquaintance with this brilliant band). Founded in Leichester, the band released three singles which are all terrific. This is their second, pressed on South Circular Records. Two nice numbers while the title track is clearly the better one. Get more info about them on the great Drowned In Sound site and I recommend to get the other EP's and the album which came out in 2011 with all the 7inches, unreleased stuff and live shit, maybe you found it anywhere in the web.

BELGIAN ASOCIALITY - s/t LP 1989

OK, let's end this hot Tuesday with a pretty cool hardcore album by Belgian Asociality. The group formed in Mechelen/Keerbergen in 1988 and provides a free demo first. The occupation of the group consisted of Mark Vosté (vocals), Patrick "Vlie" Van Looy (guitar), Tom Lumbeeck (bass) & Chris Raffo (drums). They sing mainly in Flemish and play short powerful songs in a style that can best be described as a basis of rumble punk which in the course of the years several influences/styles are added, such as metal, gospel and ska. "The band members are known for their uncanny sense of humor and a habit of pulling weird stunts especially during live performances. The most popular track of the album was “Belgian Asociality” named after the band itself. The lyrics were in Dutch and give the audience a clear example of the whacky nature of the band. A translated rhyme from the chorus of the song is as follows: “The Belgian Asociality, that is not a joke. We take us very serious, we are such handsome blokes. What others think of us, well never mind that and if they think we are bad, they will not say that twice” (Globerover 2010). This is their brilliant debut album, released at Punk Etc. and is full with 21 plenty heart attacks. Put it in your ear!

WARFARE - Crescendo Of Reflexions 1991

At an early hour the right soundtrack and for this we swing over to the British Island to one of my favourite metal/trash/punk band: Warfare from Newcastle, a Punk edged Metal band. Their debut Pure Filth from 1984 is fuckin' great and I listen to it several times and even today at least once a month. It's a classic and this stuff always brings good memories back. This compilation delivered through Kraze Records, recorded at Trinity Heights Studios summer '91 in Newcastle, found Evo, guitarist J.J. (actually Jeff Dunn - Mantas of Venom) and bassist Zlaughter re-working the band's best known songs from their older days. I think this was only released in the U.S.A. but I'm not sure. A good mix from their first three LP'S inside and the new recordings shred across very nice. There are many compilations that nobody needs and only released to make tons of money but this little CD is different and I think for new fans an excellent overview to shed light closer on this band. By the way, cool cover.

ALLER VÆRSTE! - T.A.V.! EP 1980

Here's a record how I love it: oblique, extraordinary beats, funny and hard to classify. I would describe the sound as punk but different, not 1-2-3-4 let's go hey ho, rather friggelig you know and I'm really excited. The Aller Værste! (The Worst!) exists from 1979–1981 and were formed in Bergen, members are Sverre (bass/organ/vocals), Lasse (guitar/organ/vocals), Chris (guitar/organ/vocals), Harald (bass/organ/vocals) and Ketil (drums) which started out as a hobby project by four members of long-forgotten group Johnny Banan Band. They are influenced and inspired by punk, new wave, ska and reggae and released two albums and three 7inches. Several of their releases are considered classics in Norwegian rock. They received a Spellemannprisen (a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians) in 1980, for the album Materialtretthet. Their two first singles are played at the influential BBC, by program manager John Peel. The group disbanded after their second LP Disniland I De Tusen Hjem. They had a reunion tour in 1990 and concerts in Bergen and Oslo in 1999. So this is their second EP on Den Gode Hensikt with four goodies.

PEKINŠKA PATKA - Strah Od Monotonije 1981

After their great debut Plitka Poezija from 1980 Pekinška Patka released their 2nd and last album again on Jugoton Records and they changed their sound complete into a more alternative/wave (darkwave) sound. This makes the album more interesting I think and the distinctive voice of the singer is made for it. I can imagine that some will be disappointed but the change of the sound is not done badly, my hit is clearly 'Monotonija', wavige keys meets a driving bass playing, the baritone voice and the monotone rhythm kicks the song to Joy Division feelings and after that comes with 'Neko' a groovy punk firecracker like from the old times...the LP is rounded off with a beautiful ballad. A real good album I think - Listen!!! So now I have to go for a cold shower!
