ÄTZER 81 - Die Gehassten 1981

This rare record by this german band from Stuttgart was pressed in an edtition of 1000 and released via KuKuxKlan with hand-sprayed cover. Excellent rough lo-fi punk packed in fourteen songs and because the record have a great popularity so someone took pity and pressed a bootleg, I think in 2005 or so. Worthwhile in any case, but look that you pay a fair price. Bit humid today and it also rained, let's see what goes on.

STRIDEUR - 13 12'' 1981

Laundry is washed and hung up and before my biketour starts fast something nice. This french band is totally unkonwn to me and I bought their record for a low price here in my favourite record store. Strideur is a electronic wave/punk band from Paris and I think this is their only release, I got the portuguese copy and originally this 12'' came out on Underdog Records. Four great tracks with lots of keyboards and they remind me a little bit of the early U.K. wave sound, you know. The compact songs are sung in french, comes much tuneful and there's always room for quieter moments and left me with a positive impression. A cool record which is with fifteen minutes of playing time far too short but belongs in any decent record collection!

V/A - 4 Alternatives EP 1979

One more from the Wanted-List. A highly commendable compilation comes via Heartbeat Records with four Bristol punk bands. Rare record and all tunes are excellent. You can read more about bands/label on the great Bristol Archive Records site. This saves me more words - Tip: If you like Bristol sound then I suggest you to Avon Calling. Today again it is a hot summer day and the long bike ride yesterday was a good recreation. I think I'll do that again later. Seize the day.

1.Alternative Suicide - THE NUMBERS
2.Blue Movies - X-CERTS
3.Hotel Rooms - JOE PUBLIC
4.Back To Ireland - 48 HOURS

V/A - 7000 Riff 1979

This one was a request by myself and 7000 Riff is a compilation by the Hard Rock Café environment in Trondheim and was released via Arctic Records. All exclusive numbers here of lesser unknown bands, apart from Johnny Yen Bang! and Sjølmord who published each a 7inch. The range goes from here fast punk sound over to 'alternative' I would say without becoming boring. A very good sequence which exactly holds what I expected. Well, on Scandinavia is just reliance. Incidentally, the record was also released as a tape. Enough, the weather is so nice today and I have to get out.

1.Fjell Og Stein - CITADEL
2.Fortrock - EGDE
3.Gjør Det Sjøl - JOHNNY YEN BANG!
4.19... - SJØLMORD
5.We Are The Rats - RATS
6.Mortal Rex - SPHINX (RABIES)
7.Japan - SJØLMORD
8.Korlæng - EDGE
9.Reality Is Hot! - BITCH BOYS
10.Stop Staring - JOHNNY YEN BANG!
11.Det Løper En Gutt - OPOPONAX
12.Misforstått - TOMSINGAN

CADILLAC - Cold Love 7'' 1979

This record is so damn rare and a real burner, two classic songs and Mr.Reinhard himself tells a little about the band: "I'd would describe their sound as "proto-punk" and the band were originally founded in Vienna, long before Punk became a brand for a new generation, in 1974. Members were Robert 'Bobby' Sommer (vox), Hans Vorreither (guitar), Peter Patzl (guitar), Gerhart 'Hardi' Walenta (drums) and Max Kempter (bass). The songs of the single were recorded in a studio in Vienna in 1976 or 77 and shortly after this the band split. Eventually Sommer and Walenta joined Mordbuben AG, but in 1978 Sommer relocated to Berlin with a few fellow-Austrians to join the than newly established SO36, a popular location which had in the early days a lot of well-known punk bands seen. Cadillac never played live and it took three years til Oswald Wiener, owner of Berlin's - then - EXIL in-club, deceided to release the single on his Dildo imprint in an edition of 200 copies. Bobby Sommer joined Tempo (Berlin's first punk band with a record out!!!) on sax and quickly metamorphosed into one of the most successful managers of the NDW with bands Extrabreit and Ideal and others. 'Cold Love' can also be heard on the great Es Chaos Is Die Botschaft Vol.2 compilation!" I'm pleasantly surprised because such great stuff from Austria is rather rare. What should I add??? Pull up the record and find out for yourself.

DIE KEINE AHNUNG - Arschlöcher Raus! 2006

And now we have Die Keine Ahnung from Dilllenburg/Marburg & Siegen...or simply just called DKA! For more than 15 years, the quartet is now already underway and they are still going strong! Die Keine Ahnung is fast, explosive punkrock mixed with rock n roll in the best Ramones-style and a guarantee of "Fun & Anarchy." Their first legacy for posterity appeared anno 2000 under the name "Böse Vorahnung". The album (12 songs) was then still in-house recorded and published. Several years and many gigs in Germany later was made the title of the CD a bitter truth when their bass player announced his retirement. Finally took over the bass Otti and started the band musically permanent gripes to get into shape. In the fall of 2008 he left the band and since does Rammi the task of the rest of the idea in terms of "punk rock stars of tomorrow" with new lessons and Crash courses to train. But the Otti era did not go over, without permanent (and purchasable) Values produce. Although delayed, the tight cash situation and a certain dislike Studio (Some say labor pain), some band members to feed in the new album much, but at the end of 2005 they learned at a DKA concert Maik knowing and he offered them do publish on "Elf Power Records" their 2nd record. In September 2006, their latest album "Arschlöcher Raus!" was released. The reactions were quite awesome and the press called this album much positive, so that their mission 'punk rock' in 2010 is still on course with strong direction and the world domination continues! Do not be fooled by the childish cover because DKA play a snotty, aggressive Style with brilliant texts, examples: 'Die Gesellschaft' or 'Cop-Free Zone' speak from my soul. 12 Songs in the best Social Distortion, Ramones tradition, that sweep you away.

BUZZARDS - Jellied Eels To Record Deals 1979

Let's stay punk with the next album from the UK. Both sides quite cool and I think some of you known this combo. The band took their name from their home town of Leyton, an area of east London, punning upon the name of the Bedfordshire town, Leyton Buzzards. They were initially a pub rock band, but soon adapted to punk rock/New Wave. Their debut single '19 & Mad' was released in 1977 by Small Wonder Records. They won a high-profile "Battle Of The Bands" competition organized by BBC Radio 1 and The Sun (F.U.), resulting in a major-label deal with Chrysalis Records. The first fruits of this deal, "Saturday Night (Beneath the Plastic Palm Trees)", reached Number 53 in the UK Singles Chart in March 1979, spending five weeks in the chart, and led to an appearance on Top of the Pops. The band shortened their name to The Buzzards for the 1979 single "We Make A Noise" and the album Jellied Eels To Record Deals, before reverting to The Leyton Buzzards for their final single, "Can't Get used to Losing You". They recorded four sessions for BBC Radio One's John Peel between July 1978 and January 1980. The band split up in 1980, with Deane and Jaymes going on to greater chart success with salsa-tinged pop act Modern Romance. The Buzzards were present on tons of compilations and Captain Oi! released in 2003 a CD called 'The Punk Collection'.

SCHIZOIDS - Ltd.Edition 7'' 1981

Fuckin' rare as hell is this brilliant piece of vinyl by a band from Bern/Switzerland with two songs. The first edition was released with a "trash-bag cover" around the 2-sided triple folded poster cover and only 50 copies were made! You can find more a hair in a coffee as this 7inch with the original sleeve. On the A side, the faster recording, the B side comes with the slower "radio" version. Nice idea, otherwise I don't know much anything about the band. Sure is, this killer is their only release. It exists two more releases of this record with different covers and strictly limited as well. Great Swiss Punk stuff!

RED ZEBRA - I Can't Live In A Living Room EP 1980

Another rare piece is the next one and I promise: You will love all three songs. Red Zebra is a Belgian post-punk group from Bruges and they started at the end of the 70's and have the following members: Peter Slabbynck (vocals), Geert Maertens (lead guitar), Sam Claeys (second guitar and bass guitar) and Johan Isselee (drums). Originally the band was called The Bungalows but after some time they changed their name into Red Zebra. In 1980 they had their biggest hit 'I Can't Live In A Living Room' which was released via Zebra Records and this was their first release and today still a punk classic. With their big hit, Red Zebra also had their international breakthrough as a 'small band' from Belgium. In 1986 Red Zebra decided to quit and each member took a different direction in music. But with the release of the compilation CD 'From Ape To Zebra' in 1992 and the continuing pressure and demand by fans for a reunion-tour, the 5 original members decide in 1994 to start touring again and even to make new material. Also their new material became a great success. In 2000 Red Zebra celebrated their 20th anniversary of their hit song in Bruges at a unique concert for their fans with old and new material. The group still exists and also has a related project today, namely The John Lennon Rifle Club.

THE INDEX - Jetlag 7'' 1978

This rare record was a request by my swedish mate and was released via INDY Records in a limited edition. Can't say much about them but these two numbers are nice. The a-side is more an instrumental with a fat bass line and a bit voice attending, seems this was a long flight when the song was created, who knows. Anyhow beautifully melodic impulsive. The b-side is a classic wave stomper and also ok. I think this was their only release. Go for it!
