V/A - The End Was At Hand [Special] 2012

This nice comp was created by my Austrian mate Reinhard (at that time for the legendary, much-loved WildDevilRules blog). Cause was the general hysteria the world would end in 2013, according to the Mayas and well, it's doomsday and I wonder why all these spinners in poor hippie clothes such an uprising practice. The world goes down slowly and not otherwise. I must confess, I did not much notice of a new Apocalypse and honestly I don't give a shit. I demand doomsday as a public holiday where we all not must work. Maybe the Mayas sacrificed more people that day as usual. Well fuck it, the masses needs always some shit where they can hold on to, funny that it's always at the turn of the year, has almost become a tradition. Idiots!!! Not only this was the occasion for my Austrian friend Reinhard to create this self-made compilation here but also to put his favorite songs in a splendid selection on a CD, adorned with a glossy cover. And the result is great, brilliant punkrock from all corners of the world in beautiful order. Great Stuff!! A few words from Mr. Reinhard to the CD:

V/A - YU Punk 1983-1986 Vol.2

So we travel again for a short but worthwhile trip over to ex-Yugoslavia. To the makers of YU Punk #1, which comp although sprayed significant positive response and here in my house already the cries of "Where's Vol.2" accumulated, was the owner of this small but good side yu-punk so nice to upp this awesome gem again for all of us maniacs who love Balkans-Punk-Rock. Two CD's with tons of rare and sometimes demo tracks of bands which earn your kind attention and I'm sure you will not regret it. The sound quality is quite brilliant, a few tracks are known but there is still much to discover and again I must tip my hat when I meet such lovin' self-timbered Compilations, and this piece is amazing! - "Mr. Blue, Hvala Vam Od Srca!" V/A - Le Rock D'Ici A L'Olympia 1978

Unique live album of the early French punk movement, recorded at the Olympia "Rock D'Ici" Festival/Paris, 8th, 9th, 10th July 1978. A superb compilation of very good bands with great tunes. The recordings are first-rate quality and I as an avowed friend of live plates award my highest mark. Remarkably the version of 'I Wanna Be Your Dog', the singer has an extraordinarily voice and gives the song a brilliant darkwave touch. I mean, I know many versions and the most are fast, dirty and pure punkrock but what Electric Callas made is erste Sahne!!!! Released on Pathé Marconi EMI, reissue 1999 as CD on Jurassic Punk/Anthology's.

V/A - Apathy... Never! 1986

A suberb release is this international HC Sampler from 1986 which was released by Over the Top Records. Mostly Europeans bands here and i must say the tracks from the finland bands are awesome, particularly "Dallas" blows me away. The intro is amazing and we all remember this crappy serie. Also the other songs can be quite convincing and have a lot of energy. The special feature of hardcore music is always put your feelings in short fast and aggressive songs and get yourself some fresh air. - This LP had everything what a good hardcore record needs.

V/A - Capital Kaos 1984

Last but not least a little visit to the Kiwiland. This New Zealand compilation consists mainly of live material by ’77-style punk bands. That's not to say it's bad, because there are some pretty cool songs herein, especially by Final Solution, Riot III (who does some thrash), Flesh D-Vice and Zyklon-B. Jayrem Records released these awesome cuts and sealed them to a historic record. Put the plate on the stereo, turn it right up and when the filth enter, sneak out and molotov their cars! Then run.

V/A - Ljud Från Friberga 1978

So, it's time to have my first coffee and let's have a look for more rarities now. This classic Swedish compilation was released by Bröderna Surf Records in the late 70s and what's on it is simply awesome. Six Bands with each two songs. A rough mix of true '77 garage punk. Every band is totally unknown to me and I don't know if they had more records released. "Sounds From Friberg", so the album title, kicks in every way and a further example how big and variable the Swedish underground scene was. Compared here with Germany very many bands have founded and made sure that the punk spirit was alive and they recorded records for eternity and nowadays highly sought rarities. A secure pension if you have 50 plates of it. I'm talking rubbish again or, haha... / Cool stuff, nice tunes, excellent, I love records like these - Big Point!!

V/A - Attack ("Teufelskraut") 1982

I love weekends but I hate to spend this alone, just feel so damn shit again. Drinkin' too much and everything is pissed - Have another Jever and this compilation. This LP is usually (wrongly) referred to as 'Teufelskraut', which is in fact only the name of the record label. 'Attack' is probably the correct name, but fuck it. An LP with a cool foldout cover with live (hard to believe at the mediocre quality) and studio recordings of several Swiss and Austrian bands. Recorded in part at the "Voralberg Punk Festival 1981" or at "Count Hugo". A colorful mix with rather unknown material of the respective bands (and most of them published only here) but the attraction is, apart from the charm of the snotty rehearsel punk of the early eighties in demo quality has, the part of a documentary by this some small bands and they really made a lot of hits. Shit, I had enough from writing, this is raw as hell punk rock from Switzerland & Austria. And if you love this sound you don't need words, right? - Bundesliga right now.....

V/A - Svensk Pop 1979

Svenska Pop Fabriken released this little gem late 70s. Five Bands, Ten Songs and a perfect mix of punk/pop/reggae. Outstanding here are all three songs by Noise and by far the best recordings they have ever recorded, snotty guitars accompanied with an oblique killer organ sound, a little 60s beat moderately, pretty nice. Kriminella Gitarrer usual awesome and here with an over five minute track at the end of the LP, Torsson starts with a cover version of an old classic rock'n'roll goodie, I think it's "Kansas City", here in a magical blues version while the other track is a bit lame and nothing earth-shattering. The Push brings two decent reggae tunes and Olle Bop needs help from Doctor Rock, nice ballad. Beautiful varied compilation I enjoy listening.

V/A - Killed By 7Inch #9 EP 2000

The next various EP is a bootleg, limited to 400 copies on thick black vinyl, plain white labels. One band from the U.K., the others from the States. And as we are used to it by the 12inch compilations bless us this little piece of vinyl just as with rare and superb punk goodies. I must say the 7inches of the 'Killed By Death' series are very hard to find and I'm glad I have a few, so search this Blog for it. Maybe sometimes comes the LP with all singles from # 6 - # 10 out as it did with the first five volumes which you can snatch here. You know with a record like this you can't go wrong, all four songs damn good and my favourite here is The Mel's cut. Detailed info in the file and on the back cover. It's the first post for today and it's early in the morning, first get bread and then again clothes wash. Enjoy the weekend and this little juwel.
