Now the debut by Springtoifel from Mainz on New Age Records. Founded in 1981, Springtoifel, whose founding members Olaf (vocals/organ) and Paule (bass) can still be found in the quintet's line-up today, was one of the very first German-speaking Oi-Punk bands ever. From the beginning, the band stood out clearly in the young Oi! scene with their then still quite exotic passion for ska, fluffy, offbeat hits with organ backing. Since then, the 'Mainzeldroogs' have not only stood for unforgettable, lively, first-class Punkrock sing-along anthems crowned by Olaf's roaring organ, but also for exotic musical quotes from completely foreign genres such as tango, bossa nova or even folk music, in addition to the obligatory brilliant ska songs. At a time when the music scene was dominated by New Wave, Punk and the emerging electronic music, the band managed to create a unique sound that combines both traditional and modern elements. The album is a fascinating work that takes listeners on a journey through various musical styles and themes, a remarkable example of the fusion of rock, folk and experimental music. The band combines catchy melodies with powerful guitar riffs and a driving rhythm. The use of traditional instruments, such as accordion and violin, gives the sound a folkloric touch, while the electric guitars and synthesizers underline the contemporary influence. This mix creates a dynamic soundscape that is both nostalgic and innovative. The lyrics are quite funny, sometimes poetic and invite interpretation. Themes such as love, loss, freedom and the fight against societal norms are treated in a way that is both personal and universal. The title track, "Tanz Der Teufel," is particularly notable as it offers a dark yet captivating narrative that draws the listener in. The imagery is powerful, creating an atmosphere that is both mystical and challenging. The production of the album is well done, with the sound being clear and balanced. The instruments are well-matched, and the vocals come through clearly. The mix of acoustic and electric elements is cleverly used to underline the different moods of the songs. The production reflects the experimental nature of the band and adds to the overall impact of the album. A review: ... the music and the feel, a strong early sing-song Oi! feel, like Sham 69 are both driving & passionate. Most of the stuff marches along at a good clip, both the harder thrash tunes and the slower bigger Punk sounds. (Dogtowne, MRR #40 • September 1986) This debut is an impressive record and leaves a strong first impression. Both thumbs up!

SPRINGTOIFEL - Schwere Jungs 1988
German Oi! combo Springtoifel were founded 1981 in Mainz by Olaf (vocals/organ), Pfüzi (guitars), Paul (bass), Lothar (drums) and very influenced by punkrock of the good ole seventies. In addition to the classical instrumentation (guitar, bass, drums), the band used the hammond organ from the beginning and also draws on influences from both Ska and non-scene music such as Tango, Bossa Nova and folk music. The first demo tape was recorded in 1984 and the following year the debut Tanz Der Teufel was released via We Bite Records and two years later they recorded the Lässige Hunde slab. SpringtOifel never valued extended concert tours. They were always limited to a maximum of two to three consecutive concerts, which was due to the professional and family obligations of the band members and the fact that they "prefer to perform in front of 500 than five people and prefer concerts in medium-sized halls on the weekend". (Quote from Olaf) - Schwere Jungs is the third album with ten sympathetic stories, most of which revolve around alcohol consumption on different occasion (where I find myself here and there), funny & intoxicating. Released via Metal Enterprises before the live slab came out and in 1992 the band filed a lawsuit against the label but that's another story. Remarkable their vinyl releases, fifteen albums up to 2012, six 7Inches and guest on numerous compilations. No wonder, SpringtOifel's music is relaxed and makes me and you happy!

V/A - Der Tollschock Sampler 1989
This one's for Uncle Joe by request and I own the record for a long time but it's one I must sell off, needless to say why. Well, this is one of the first releases of Pedder's (R.I.P.) label Skan Productions which he founded end of the 80s and there are not many stuff published there but a few bright moments and this first compilation is one of them. More than half of the songs so far unpublished and the fourteen tunes are a healthy mix of Oi!, Punk and Psychobilly and a beautiful ballad on the end. Cool title, nice artwork and all lyrics/infos inside.... needs to be hear loud!

V/A - Hart Aber Herzlich 1986
Another interesting compilation is this record which was released by Korrekt-Records. Divided into two different styles of music. The "hard" side is packed with aggressive represented German punk bands from the top league during the "hearty" side comes with four wave bands which doesn't tell me much and maybe they have probably released only one demo or so in their lifetime, but who cares. The idea of this record worked. Completely audible, surprisingly cool songs and a charming artwork makes this rare platter one of the better German underground sampler in the whole wide punk ocean.
