MAGIC SPLATTERS - Blamage EP 1994

I think, this is the debut EP by the Magic Splatters, a Frankfurt based quartet who was active in the Rhine-Main region during the nineties, who back then had a reputation as a notorious, hard partying band. Released on the French label Adrénaline Records, the EP comes in a simple foldout sleeve made of thick cardstock available in five different cover colors; it is hand numbered (500 copies) and includes a small insert and is a classic, lovingly DIY production. The four track EP delivers raw, unvarnished '77 Punk: fast, aggressive melodies and snarly vocals paired with simple, driving three chord riffs. The lyrics are typical of the Frankfurt scene: direct, slightly self-deprecating, and free of politically correct frills. It charges relentlessly forward, leaving no time to catch one’s breath. It is a perfect document of the Nineties Frankfurt underground: unpolished, high energy, and recorded with a wink. It strikes a perfect balance between angry Punk and nice catchy sounds. A cynical reckoning with societal constraints & philistinism. You will to love it.

MAGIC SPLATTERS - s/t EP 1994

Oh shame on me for not posting about this brilliant band from Frankfurt/Main yet, eieieieieieieiei. The Magic Splatters were active in the Nineties and consisted of Sven (vocals/sax), Ralvieh (guitars), Eaglebauer (bass) and Oskar (drums). They made three 7Inches and one album, and by the end of the same decade, the band had disbanded. I've seen them live a few times, but for the life of me, I can't remember but that's entirely due to my poor memory. They made an excellent sound of the eternal '77 Punkrock, and back then, they built a real fan base in the Rhine-Main area as a party band. I've read their name on numerous flyers that time and if you hear their music, you'll know why. Lyrically, as befits a band from Frankfurt, it's clear and straight into your face without any confusion, that's why I love this city so much and enjoy living at this fucking place. Do yourself a favor and listen to the foursome while enjoying a cold beer. Cheers!

V/A - Ich Hack Mir Den Arm Ab! 2019

It's time again for rare German underground in this theatre and with Part VII is again a colorful mix of pop, rock, punk & new wave by bands that are largely unknown to me, some only represented on compilations, some with albums. First of all, my heartfelt thx to Reinhard for this fat package and I'm always happy to hear undiscovered Schmankerl from your rich treasure chest. The compilation's title is quickly told. Since Sunday I've been suffering from a fucking shoulder infection (left side), and as a left-handed person it is extremely difficult to carry out everyday routine movements, despite medicine that doesn't work, apart from the broken intervertebral discs, I shouted this sentence several times, it could hardly be more authentic. Shit Christmas, there's always something ... Well, music helps, and Part VI was a long time ago. A word about the cover, this is what a sign forest looks like when a bicycle path is renewed in this country, refreshingly gelle, such  stupid orderliness are only in our bureaucratic republic; they think we're all dumb. - Enjoy the days off and the music, Part VIII will come and now go in search of the previous nuggets.
