INSTANT AGONY - Out Of The Eighties (Punk Singles & Rarities 1981-1984) [2000]

Now a fine collection with their first four 7Inches plus rare demos and we're talking about Instant Agony which were formed 1979 in Birkenhead. "Liverpool Four" of young and rather talented Punkrockers: Steve (vocals), Anthony (guitars), Tabby (bass/vocals) and Barry (drums) and  despite the fact that the group did not particularly practice big tours and almost did not perform outside the native north-west of foggy albion, the team has earned a fairly strong reputation and solid authority. Instant Agony can safely be called a cult figure of the local scene, although its popularity and recognized influence has been able to spread far beyond the UK. The guys presented their debut 7Inch Think Of England to the public in 1983. Three most cheerful high-speed tracks in the best traditions of the genre were well received by the listeners and the slab immediately hit the indie charts. The group lost until 1984, having managed to release a total of four very successful and quite original and original sevens. In 1997, Steve and Tabby revived their brainchild and again set to work on the old one. During this time, the group managed to release several 7Inches, two full-fledged albums and play a bunch of different concerts. They're still active and doing what they're doing because they enjoy it and having much fun!

INSTANT AGONY - No Sign Of Life! 7'' 1983

Interesting UK combo from Birkenhead called Instant Agony, active from 1979 to 1984 and members were Hocky (vocals), Ant (guitars), Tabby (bass), Bazza (drums) and they released four singles during their original time together before things went a bit wrong for them. This is their third one on Flicknife Records with two catchy tunes which get you on your feet! "A bit slower than their first two 7Inches with more melodic lead guitar. They still sound undeniably Punk while having come up with a sound that was pretty unique amongst their contemporaries." The band reformed in 1996 and their last life sign was the One Man Army album from 2005. Guest appearances on compilations are also numerous.

V/A - Flicknife Records Punk Collection 1995

Let's move on to another compilation from the Punk Collectors Series from Anagram Records and this Volume is full with cool stuff. In addition to well-known bands, there are a few others represented here that put little on vinyl, but that makes this series so interesting. Flicknife Records started in October 1980 by Frenchy and Gina and the first release was the Mystere Fives No Message 7Inch in 1980 and the label is still active and holds on to the attitudes and beliefs that spurred Frenchy to start it. On this CD are the first songs from singles gathered that gave their best in the early days. Absolutely brilliant material and in two hours the SGE will follow versus Marseille, hope they win!

V/A - Killed By Hardcore #2 2002

Redrum Records, you know what this means? Genau, massive rare punk stuff from the early days and now we meet the Hardcore section and this compilation is a great example of nasty bands from every angle of this planet. I quote from back cover: "Welcome to the second installment of Killed By Hardcore. Just like that others series by those useless eaters from hell. This one's already going down hill... to the big money at the end of your wants list. Be warned: all anarchy & violence taken from original vinyls. So if it ain't digital enough you can always listen to disco shit. So bummer bitches, you'll find here explosive material of black small round flat 80s and invite your neighbors and enjoy a hearty BBQ with lots of beer." Twenty-three more on Volume 1 - I wish you all a groovy Sunday and enjoy the music.
