Today is one of those November days that I really don’t like, just gray, gray, and more gray. It’s a bit melancholic, so let’s transport ourselves back to 1978 and take a look at the debut EP from XS Energy, a short fine band from Lincoln and they producing two 7Inches on World/Dead Good Records. On this jewel we listen to three decent Nuggets and the second is from 1979 shines with two. The latter is the pick… midtempo Punk riffery with catchy chorus. Pop punkish with sung, as opposed to shouted or sneered, vocals. Worth getting. Collectors get ready to cream yourself – Eighteen came in three different coloured photocopied sleeves (pink paper, green paper, yellow paper) on the World Records first pressing, folded ‘National Crisis Souvenir Issue’ sleeve on ‘Dead Good Records’ second pressing and a plain white die-cut rubber-stamped sleeve for the third pressing. I think, this is a little bit of sunshine for now, and if you happen to find any today, enjoy every damn beam.
