German three piece from Lingen/Ems founded in 1986. In 1984, Christian Schlage & Jürgen Schwegmann co-founded the predecessor band "The Street Parade". When their drummer Henry Hoppert left the band in 1986, they replaced him by Hans-Dieter Herrmann and the newly formed band was called the Echo. It took time until 1990, when the band recorded their first and only vinyl. From 1991, the band's line-up changed several times and the band was given up in 1995 with Schlage as the last founding member. They can also be found on three Compilations, I first encountered it on the German Mystic Sound II CD on Zillo Records. Mirror Of Times is a rare 12Inch (mini-album) by The Echo, released in the autumn of 1990; comprising six tracks, it offers a concise glimpse into the group's musical output during the early Nineties. Stylistically, the tracks reflect the zeitgeist of the late 1980s and early 1990s, with instrumentation built upon solid guitar structures, a straightforward rhythmic foundation, and vocal arrangements typical of the era. Experimental outliers are largely absent; instead, the band focuses on technically sound, direct songwriting, eschewing any filler material. The songs are compactly structured and adhere to established patterns within the alternative Goth genre. The dynamics within the tracks remain largely consistent, a balanced blend of mid-tempo numbers and somewhat more driving passages without venturing into extreme stylistic departures. Mirror Of Times stands as a quintessential document of the German independent/underground scene of that transitional period. While it offers no radical innovations, it impresses through its grounded craftsmanship. It is a release of considerable interest to collectors of rare vinyl editions.
