Monday, new week, new music, cheers! Utangarðsmenn (Outsiders) was formed in 1979 and was most active in the early Eighties, becoming one of the most popular bands in the country for that period. This is their second and last album, released by Steinar, and marks the band's heyday. They were the pioneers who brought Punk to Iceland and forever changed the local music scene. Formed in Reykjavík around charismatic frontman Bubbi, who had previously worked as a migrant laborer in the fishing industry. Other founding members were brothers Mick and Danny Pollock, as well as Magnús and Rúnar. Inspired by bands like the Clash and the Stooges, they delivered a raw, politically charged sound. A legendary moment was their performance supporting the Clash in Reykjavík in 1980. They opened the door for the "New Wave" movement in Iceland. Well-known artists like Björk (with her early band Tappi Tíkarrass) were heavily influenced by them. After only two years and a few releases the band dissolved. Bubbi Morthens subsequently launched an unprecedented solo career and founded the band Egó, while the Pollock brothers continued under the name Bodies.
