ERAZERHEAD - The Rumble Of The East 1982

Erazerhead was a four piece from East London and they existed from 1980 to 1984 and consisted of Lee (vocals), Jim (guitar), Gary (bass), Billy (drums) and released in their relatively short lifespan two albums and several singles. Their sound is very reminiscent of the Ramones and they really do it quite well, the length is right, they can play even if some of the recordings are a bit thin, but I think that's exactly what makes this debut so charming. Erazerhead is light fare and doesn't really blow you away, but the magic and the successful cover of a fifties classic are fun and make me look forward to my vacation. With their second album, Take Me To Your Leader, which attempted a more mature approach, augmenting the low budget guitar attack with keyboards and saxophone, more thoughtful lyrics and expansive arrangements. It failed miserably, but at least it tried to forge new ground. The band finally broke up after this miserable disappointment in 1984.

  1. ...great time it was, the early 80's. And an absolute great LP it was, the debut by English group ERAZERHEAD.
    Many thanks for reminding me.
The one said, they where primitive, I think they do it on the point.
ERAZERHEAD released a single/EP titled "Live at Kings Club" or so shortly after "The rumble on the east" album, containing songs recorded in Stuttgart/Germany (...couldn't get there because I was too young then:):):):). But this live recording is absolute worth hearing...
....after that great album and that strong live EP the young band
ERAZERHEAD involved keyboards and "glatten" their sound for what reason ever? Released a second album I forgot the title...and ERAZERHEAD broke up then.
I don't know if anyone of the band continued their musical life but I didn't forgot this great band and their great (and timeless!!!!) debut album "The rumble of the east".
    Thank you!!!! Very much.
