Female Trouble (based on the 1974 movie of the same name) was founded 1992 in Berlin/Kreuzberg as an all-female band, the first line-up consisted of Carola (vocals), Eva & Maike (guitars), Carla (bass), Ariana (drums) and they released their first mini album Angry Mad Pussy two years later on XNO Records. Two further albums (CD only) followed until about 1999, at that time there were some line-up changes and male members joined, henceforth the band was called She-Male Trouble and in this formation they released many 7Inches until 2019, and two more albums. Their music is a nice mixture of dirty Rock'N'Punk with driving grooves and catchy melodies, accompanied by Carola's delicate, rough voice that gives the songs authenticity and fragility, as well as anger and hardness. An excellent voice, not unique but very distinctive. Cleanin Up The Hood is their third & last release and is a powerful move forward goodie with dynamic peppy riffs which beautifully harmonizes with Carola's driving vocals. The length of the songs is unusual for Punkrock, mostly over three minutes & not really mine, but the four manage to keep me going and that's also due to the interesting lyrics, which are far from the 08/15 scheme. An album with a different new freshness and I'm really a friend of it, check this!
