SYMBOL SIX - Ego 12'' 1982

California 1980, Symbol Six formed in Santa Monica by Ric (vocals), Steve & Marcus (guitars), Donny (bass) and Steve (drums). In December 1981, Robbie Fields, owner and founder of Posh Boy Records, went to a band rehearsal and booked Symbol Six in the studio to record and produce their self-titled debut (Ego) 12''. The record was named a top pick in Billboard Magazine in 1982: Full of sound and fury is SYMBOL SIX, a new five-man band from Southern California. They play the four songs here with punk exuberance, keeping everything simple but with high excitement quotient (I can only agree)Symbol Six was distributed world-wide by Green World but the group broke up shortly after the album was released. In 1988, the album was re-released on the compilation titled Split, with Agent Orange's album Living in Darkness. This as a little basic information, read the rest on wiki or their homepage, I'm tired ... Mondays are shit.

  1. The song "Beverlywood" from this EP is a classic of the Posh Boy SoCal sound. Symbol Six reformed with in 2010 with Tony Fate (from the Sins and the Bellrays) on guitar.

Mondays are shit alright, but new posts on your blog always brighten my day!

  2. This is one of my favorite records ever. It's a shame they never released a full LP at the time. The wiki page doesn't say so but before the band completely broke up they changed sound and became a Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band playing original songs plus an Aerosmith song. I have two live tapes one from Punk times and another from Heavy Metal times that I will be posting on my blog over the summer.

Been a fan of yours for some time now, was wondering if I might be able to get a link for my (quite new / eclectic) blog in your sidebar over there? I've had you linked for a minute now. Thanks for considering. I could use some traffic!
