ASIA - s/t LP 1982

Today I just want to bring you a fantastic album closer what I gladly regulary dig out and me kicks back to my youth and nostalgic moments create. With that everything is already been said and now I rip the vinyl, I know it's a bit commercial but I like the damn music. A bit info: Asia are an English rock band formed in London 1981 and the most commercially successful line-up was its original, which was a supergroup of four members of different progressive rock bands of the 1970s: lead vocalist and bassist John Wetton of King Crimson and U.K., guitarist Steve Howe of Yes, keyboardist Geoff Downes of Yes & the Buggles and drummer Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Their eponymous self titled debut album gained considerable commercial success, spending nine weeks at number one on the United States album chart and selling over four million copies in the States alone. The album sold over ten million worldwide and has never been out of print. In the United States the band sold out every date on their debut tour, which began at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York on 22. April 1982, continued in theatres but quickly expanded into massive arenas because of high ticket demand. Asia would go on to receive a Grammy Award nomination as Best New Artist of 1982. Both Billboard & Cash Box named Asia's debut the #1 album of the year. Well, maybe one or two of you stores similar memories with this record and share it with me, I'm curious... sad words at the end, John Wetton died in his sleep from complications of colorectal cancer at the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital in Christchurch/Dorset, on 31 January 2017. What remains: unforgotten songs of another time.

  1. An timeless classic and my favourite song is Time Again, great intro and the wildest one, nearly a punk song:

Fate looks certain byt then nothing's guaranteed
Want for nothing, but is nothing what you need
Always pushing though you're never satisfied
I did believe you 'till I found out that you lied
    Time and time again
    Time and time again
    Again
What I give you I get nothing in return
Can't forgive you, watching all your bridges burn
All day long I stand and watch you do it wrong
I have to say that's how you did it all along
    Time and time again
    Time and time again
    Again
When others learned it seemed that you could only see
And someone showed you, then why was it always me
I knew the limit, you were always out of bounds
How could I trust you when I caught you messing 'round
And time and time and time again
    Time and time again
    Time and time again
    Again

    Cheers from Oslo
    B.
