The Freeze formed in Edinburgh and were active from 1976 to 1982, gigging continuously throughout their homeland of Scotland, and supporting a wide range of acts, from the likes of Sham 69 to Echo & The Bunnymen. On stage they were quite the lively bunch - with an unusually diverse spectrum of sound, glam-punk gender-bending theatrics, and a knack for random song improvisation - it was a package that often left onlookers enthusiastically scratching their heads in astonishment. The group had two official releases – 1979’s debut EP 'In Colour' and 1980’s 7'' Celebration, both are self-financed on their own A1 label. Three punk/wave songs we have here and I like all a lot. Cool & nice stuff!!!!
Ver' nice,,,impressively zo I think I will really enjoy. Hanx!
ReplyDeleteThey also recorded a Peel Session in 1980: http://noiseaddiction2.blogspot.com/2014/08/freeze-uk-john-peel-session-10-27-80.html
ReplyDeleteI've got both original 7"s so thanks for the Session! I'd imagine you know (?) but Gordon Sharp and David Clancy from this trio later formed Cindytalk and worked with various people in the 4AD camp.. that said, none of it is like this! And its too bad they only managed a couple singles cos this EP is ace!
