FRANKIE STUBBS - Unhinged EP 1995

Always a good choice and a permanent guest on my turntable is this gentleman: Frankie Stubbs, known by his rough voice in Leatherface, Jesse, Pope, N.R.F.B.... and he released two solo records, first the Unhinged EP on Rugger Bugger and in 2000 a 10'' via Sounds Of Subterrania and both goodies in this post. Nine acoustic beautiful melodic songs, some covers plus an unpublished one, made to come down and refuel new strength. There are only a few people who can transport such emotions and Frankie does it in an impressive way and too bad that he obviously stopped making music. Well, eventually it is enough - Thanks!

GENIUS FREAK - Whose Body Is It Anyway? 7'' 1990

Genius Freak were formed from the ashes of The Shout by lead singer Leeson O’Keefe. They did one 7” with Damaged Goods Records which came in a very nice poster sleeve. Two brilliant melodic punk rock songs in the tradition of Snuff, Guns & Wankers or Leatherface. I think it's their only release and both songs have power, fat guitars and brings fun in every house. Then they left and continued playing around the UK for another year or so. Leeson is still playing in bands today. Cool Songs, nice cover, nothin' more to say.

GUNS 'N' WANKERS - G 'N 'W 1994

First glass of beer today and we join it with Guns 'N' Wankers, punkers formed by ex-members of Snuff and rockers of the Wildhearts in the early 1990s. The band consisted of Duncan Redmonds (vocals/guitar), Patrice Walters (drums/vocals) and Joolz Dean (bass guitar/vocals) and after touring up and down the United Kingdom with the likes of Leatherface, NOFX and Wat Tyler, the band set about recording demos. This album, I think the debut, contains ten melodic heart attacks (I sometimes hear a bit of metal influence) on Rugger Bugger Discs and it pumps the shit right from the start with a great punch out of the amplifiers & assemble the notes to a harmonious sunrise on the edge of the Pacific, a real breakwater.. incredible.. you will not be disappointed (I think more songs were not recorded). Point your cursor at GNW for more band info.
