TDK - Esto Es Una Empresa Capitalista 12'' 1985

Puh I'm really through, fantastic gig yesterday and can't wait to enjoy them again in Brighton. TDK (Terrorism, Destruction And Kaos) were a hardcore punk band born in Madrid, Spain in 1984. They exist about six years and released a couple of singles, an album and this 12''. Especially this record, managed to stick very strong in USA, where people from Black Flag and Dead Kennedys were impressed with the level shown by these guys. 80's spanish punk at its best by the underrated TDK, catchy punk rock with a dark edge, only comparable with Dead Kennedys or two of them previous band Espasmódicos.

OFF! @ Annandale Hotel/Sydney 2013

Let's spend some fuckin' great US Hardcore with this delicacy. Black Flag, Circle Jerks, OFF! The stations of frontman Mr. Keith Morris, the one with the best punk voice and as Jello Biafra, one of the pillars of american punkrock. I have all the records from his old bands and with OFF! he kicks another excellent example out what's inside him and I think the songs give us all a strong impression of living in the U.S.A., the land of the free. This bootleg is a highlight of 29 energtic songs in a brilliant quality with nice greetings to the audience and the band is hot. You can really feel the gig and I like every minute of this 30 minute H-bomb. In 2011 we had the chance to visit a concert in Wiesbaden and we both were just thrilled. I can really recommend anyone to join a OFF! concert, you will never forget it. OFF! are Keith Morris (vox), Dimitri Coats (guitar), Steven Shane McDonald (bass), Mario Rubalcaba (drums).

I REFUSE - Demo 2011

A very interesting young band which was the opening act at the last Turbostaat gig and me completely excited are I Refuse from Beilstein, somewhere in Baden-Württemberg/Germany. They played ca. 20 minutes and the four were fuckin' good. Clear that I had to buy their demo immediately. Let me give you some info from Alessandro from borderlinefuckup, he reviewed this tape and I can only agree: "They see themselves as archetypal HC / punk band in which values and ideals are more important than anything else. The texts are critical and treat issues such as sexism, commercialization, discrimination and alienation. This is nothing new in the genre. Their statements are always clear, but never formulated to flat and come with the necessary pinch Coated therefore awareness. In the end, the guys sound very sincere. One never has the feeling that they want to teach one or make a preacher. They speak only out what so often thinks himself. The ten tracks are bumpy, direct punk numbers that barely crack the 2-minute mark and go with a high tempo forward. However, the highly melodic guitar act and thus provide much hit character. Complemented by discreet moshy, broken guitar sound in the style of Black Flag, which is a pretty cool mix. The singer rarely cries, but interprets the lyrics with his own style, somewhere between chanting, wild bickering and almost harmonic vocals. Anyway, he sounds very charismatic and manages to put some life in his stories. The not quite 22 minutes convince from start to finish. I Refuse anno 2011 sounds musical very fresh and is a stand out among the German punk pabulum." I can add nothing, except this tape was released in an edition of 100 and this year a 12'' called "Öffnen/Atmen" is planned with seven songs. Finally, a few words of the band themselves: "We're a more or less shitty four-piece punk band, we exist since 2008 and we'd like to play at your squat, youthcentre, rehearsal room, living room and so on for a little gas-money, something vegetarian to eat and a few drinks. We have strong opinions about nationalism, racism, fascism, sexism, homophobia, your macho-toughguy attitude and the general shittyness of this fucked up world. (Which means we dislike that stuff.) Get in touch!"

CANAL TERROR - Zu Spät 1983

Next classic German Punk album is the debut record from Canal Terror and I don't know how many times I played this LP up and down: angry, aggressive, rebellious music which has nothin' lost of their rudeness. Founded 1980 in Bonn by Tommy, Volker and Dominik, 15 to 17 years old, in the following year 14-year-old drummer Rainer completed the band. 1981 published the first demo recordings and a Super-8 film on which they introduced for the first time their most popular song 'Staatsfeind'. In December, the band participated on the compilation Soundtracks Zum Untergang 2 (AGR). Canal Terror played this year their first concerts outside of Cologne and Bonn with Black Flag, Minutemen, Slime, OHL, etc... More demo tapes were released in the following two years. In December 1982 they recorded their debut LP, appeared due to differences with label boss Karl-Ulrich Walterbach, in the spring of 1983. Tommy left the band in 1983 after internal disputes and Rainer moved to the micro. Ex-Toxoplasma bassist Stefan came as a drummer. Frank Glienke ("KutA") was for a few concerts the second guitarist but left the band very soon. The group toured again with Razzia, Inferno, Neurotic Arseholes, Boskops, Die Ärzte, etc... and the recordings for the compilation Underground Hits 2 emerged. Again it come to quarrels and Dominik and then Volker left the band. The band continued until 1984 by Rainer and Stefan and with other members. On the Dutch sampler 'Babylon Bleibt Fahren' the song "Staatsfeind" was in a live version on it and shortly after this release the band split up for good. In December 1991 the band played in the original line-up a unique concert in the Biscuithalle/Bonn, together with Toxoplasma, Die Skeptiker and the British band Urge. In 1992 Red Rossetten Records released a CD with recordings of this gig under the title "Live In Bonn". AGR reissued without the permission of the band their first album in the 90's and so Canal Terror secured in a trial against AGR the rights to their songs. A Review: "Canal Terror produce diverse hardcore material on their debut album, including full-tilt thrash ("Multis," the title cut, etc.), Oi!-influenced stuff ("Bonn-Duell"), '77 punk with melodic guitars ("100 Mann"), reggae-punk mixtures ("Mallorca"), some cool Rock'N'Roll ("Hey"), and even a funnypunk version of "My Bonnie." The guitars should have been emphasized more in the mix, but this record is still entertaining as hell." - Jeff Bale (from MMR #8, September 1983) / That's the story so far, for me another major record which is second to none today.

V/A - SST Acoustic 1991

First post for today and I have a big hangover of too much drinkin' yesterday, puhhhhhh - so here we go: SST Records is a record label formed in 1978 in Long Beach, California by Greg Ginn. It was originally an electronics company called SST (Solid State Transformers). The label was a prominent figure in the L.A. punk scene around 1980 and 1981, releasing more albums by Black Flag as well as Minutemen, Descendents, and Stains and has since remained a major symbol of the city's underground culture. SST quickly branched out in its early years to release albums by bands outside of the southern California area. All these songs on this album are released but came here together in a different version and every song is cool and shows that PUNK is no being brainwashed by fuckin' MTV or other sources and this LP shines through without all the studio tricks. I know ya’ll are excited so I won’t make you wait any longer to get this solid album with massive hits!!!!!
