Kriminella Gitarrer was a young four piece and come together around 1977 and the first line-up consisted of Stry (vocals), Mats (guitars), Affe (bass), Sticky Bomb (drums). They were not the most influential or popular of the first generation of Swedish Punk bands but their three 7Inches are all excellent records. All three, plus demos and their two Compilation tracks are assembled on this great slab which came via Klippan Records in an edition of 500 copies. Sixteen tidbits prove that they were able to write rough cool songs, and have a legitimate place in the upper league of the Swedish underground. A detailed DIN-A4 gives you more information about the band and I would definitely recommend a listen.

V/A - Heroes Of The Night 2021
Today I would like to draw your attention to a very interesting release and since it's still available, no download is offered. "The Baby is called Heroes Of The Night! and is a fine Compilation from Reminder Records and a beautiful document of female-fronted U.K. and Irish Punk, Powerpop, New Wave, Hard Rock & Synth-Pop 45s! A selection from a dozen of the greatest and rarest femme vox 7Inches. From the Midlands and the Merseyside to the North and the Six Counties, this record shines a light on the still-undersung female pioneers and trailblazers who emerged out of the Punk & New Wave maelstrom/malestrom." All I can say: a cool record with interesting bands and informative liner notes, and best of all, there's already a second part that came out a month ago. Nice to see that from time to time such ancient treasures are unearthed for us, but also for the bands & makers and are not forgotten in the dark ocean. Buy this sucker, it's worth every damn penny.

TARGET OF DEMAND - Man's Ruin 1983
One of the best kept secrets of Eighties California Hardcore, Target Of Demand hailed from Long Beach and consisted of Jim (vocals), Brian & Mike (guitars), AJ (bass), George (drums), and they released only this ten blast via the small Happy Hermit label and a couple Compilation tracks before disbanding. Due to their very short existence as a band, and the fact that they were much more influenced by Teen Idles or SS Decontrol and the sounds coming out of Boston and the Midwest, rather than what was going on in California at the time, this incredibly ripping is 100% pure American Hardcore. They also appear 1985 on the fantastic When Men Were Men... And Sheep Were Scared Compilation on Bemisbrain Records. They are a straight-edge band but their lyrics stay far away from the usual cliché topics of such bands, most of them are attacks on the rich, the government, positive thinking, etc... A suitable review: "This new Long Beach Hardcore group seems to have been influenced quite a bit by D.R.I. The comparison shouldn’t be exaggerated, however, because Target Of Demand adds characteristic SoCal hooks to their intense thrash attack, and the results are startlingly good. Of the songs, “The Poor Rich” takes a potshot at wealthy Malibu residents endangered by mudslides, and “Judgement” and “Plastic Bullets” are particularly savage and to the point thematically. Quintessential American ’80s thrash." (Jeff Bale, MRR #12 • March 1984) - Essential Record!

LILIPUT - s/t LP 1982
"Liliput, initially known as Kleenex, were a female Swiss band formed 1978 in Zurich. The band experienced numerous line-up changes throughout their existence, with bassist Klaudia Schiff being the only constant member of the band over their entire history. Guitarist Marlene Marder joined the group shortly after their formation, and remained a member until their 1983 split. LILIPUT's final line-up consisted of Schiff, Marder, and lead vocalist Astrid Spirit, and it was in this incarnation that the band recorded their only full-length studio albums, Liliput (1982) and Some Songs (1983). According to AllMusic, Liliput made some of the best, most adventurous, most exhilarating, and most critically derided music" of the Punkrock era."
Difficult for me to describe this album, a professional review can do it better: "You can bet that a karaoke version of LiLiPUT's first full-length will never see the light of day. It's an exciting and ultimately accessible amalgam of crazy rhythms and impossible-to-replicate vocalisms. The recording found the band as a trio, having lost a drummer and a saxophonist. Only Astrid Spirit, Klaudia Schiff, and Marlene Marder remained, sharing all of the duties. Aside from the airy "Might Is Right" and the relatively forceful "Like Or Lump It," there's hardly any prominent guitar. Otherwise, you probably wouldn't hear guitar unless you were specifically hunting for it in the mix, because it makes for just as much of a percussive element as the drums. Generally, they pound out a loping rhythm and chant unintelligible phrases, adding the occasional violin shriek or unidentifiable nuance. This method strikes gold with each attempt. "Do You Mind My Dream" snarls & swoops; the guitar is just as effectively plucky and trebly as the one found on Liquid Liquid's "Optimo" and Talking Heads' "I Zimbra." Spirit's squeaky vocals highlight "In A Mess" and "Tong-Tong," both of which could be mistaken for New York funksters ESG. "Outburst" could be the best example of LiLiPUT's greatness, with a jumpy bassline and the most animalistic of vocal gestures. Spirit "ugh"s in time with the one-two bass punch as if she were being karate chopped in the gut. At other points during the song, she alternates between "proper" singing and helium ingestion, breaking that up with hyena-like noises. LiLiPUT actually gets more experimental than that. "Birdy" is a nails-on-chalkboard violin instrumental, gradually gathering steam until hitting overload. "Umamm," another instrumental, offers little more than tribal drums. Thx to the similarly titled Compilation, the album is available in its entirety." (Andy Kellman)

EA80 - Schweinegott 1998
One of the longest running Punk bands in the German underground world and "with their eighth album, the guys have proven that EA80 is far from out of breath. The band has managed to produce twelve varied songs in a very innovative way, some of which leave well-trodden paths. Sometimes dark and melancholic, sometimes noisy and dissonant, the band furiously fires their entire complex sound spectrum into the ether." Comes on request and normally I don't start an EA80 record with a review, but here I like to because I agree. The sound is more dirtier and more aggressive, not untypical I'd like to say because they're a Punk band and the Four are able to write such pleasant crackers, and the production is similar to Grüner Apfel but a bit more powerful and energetic, that kicks and shoots the band into the new century, I'd like to mean. Driving and manic hymns meet twelve soulful and dynamic ass kickers like no other band in this country can do, unique and uncopyable. They underline impressively why they rightly have an absolutely exceptional status in our music scene, a real obstacle for everyone who doesn't understand the lyrics but if you really want to, you can translate their words and you see what's going on. Sometimes disturbing, but a real exceptional band and not without reason their gigs are always full & attractive. I've seen many and I hope there will be coming more.
Enough words, enjoy every song/sound and discover EA80 for yourself, it will be a pleasant journey like a holiday in Crete! Εβίβα!

THE EJECTED - Game Of Survival! 2017
After the split in 1983, the Ejected reformed in 2014 (for the TNT festival in Hartford, Connecticut during Labor Day Weekend and played at the Rebellion Punk Festival in Blackpool) and released their third album two years later. Line-up are Jim (vocals), Jonny (guitars), Paul (bass), Toby (drums) and this is the fourth record on Randale Records with fourteen aggressive, for the bands typical short & crispy sound, smasher. You can clearly tell that they have retained their fantastic sense of humor and are still able to write catchy songs. For all those who don't know their first slab, A Touch Of Glass (1982), let me say: definitely listen! I don't know if the guys are still active (their last album came out in 2018) but one thing is for sure, the Ejected are great and have a place in English Punk history.

V/A - Rebelie Punk'N'Oi! 1990
Let's go a bit exotic with the first release by the Monitor label and it's a decent mix of Punk and Oi! bands and the label selected the best "pieces" at that time from the Czech region to begin with. Well, for my taste it takes a little getting used to, because the quality is different than what I am used to, and sometimes a bit tiring. There are some reviews you can read for yourself and there are also cool songs on this Compilation and it certainly has a firm place in the history of Czechoslovak subculture, but somehow I miss the WOW! effect and after the slab's over, it's good too. Anyway, put on the music and absolutely suitable for a start into the new week.

V/A - Teenage Rebel ... Der Sampler #1 1995
This Compilation presents you excerpts from the not unimportant label Teenage Rebel Records from Düsseldorf, which was founded at the end of the eighties, therefore are mainly bands from this area here at home. There were four editions of this series, which mostly appeared in a cardboard sleeve, and in addition to 'old' bands, some of which were newly formed at the time, the range of 'new' German bands is not uninteresting and many such Compliations were available as inserts in renowned fanzines (Wahrschauer, Ox, ZAP etc..), an original idea I think, for less money you can come to new music and choose what you like accordingly. When I ripped this CD I thought it wouldn't be read because there are some deep scratches on it but the player did an excellent job and ran brilliantly, so here it is: a cool selection of cool songs and I guess there is something for everybody!

ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT - The Oi! Collection 1997
"Formed as Cardiac Arrest in Epping, Essex, in 1978. They changed their name when found out about another band with same name. They recorded three singles, all produced by The Damned’s Rat Scabies. Their original bassist Matt Johnson later founded The The. They went through a number of line ups before settling on one that would record the majority of their material: Gavin Gritton on vocals, Nick Freeston on drums, Haggis on lead guitar, and Kevin Read on bass. The first gig was in 1979. The band initially only went on to play around 25 shows but, as it says in the liner notes to the Compilation of all of their work compiled by Captain Oi! Records in 1997, 'the name Anti-Establishment is still held in high esteem amongst the Oi!/Punk Fraternity'. This eighteen track collection gathers together all of the band's studio recordings, included the singles plus twelve previously unreleased demos. A great collection of one of the Oi! scene’s unsung heroes."

THE RUDES - Join The Army! EP 2008
The Rudes were a four piece from Tours and consisted of Lionel (vocals), Farid (guitars), Greg (bass), Simn (drums) and they really didn't exist long and this is their only EP on Une Vie Pour Rien? with three very good Oi!/Punk pieces and it's really a shame that the group no longer exists because they have the potential to become an important group like the Tour De France (that was a remarkably exciting race today). In any case a very good slab and absolutely suitable for the French holiday, what do you think?
