Another rare piece is the next one and I promise: You will love all three songs. Red Zebra is a Belgian post-punk group from Bruges and they started at the end of the 70's and have the following members: Peter Slabbynck (vocals), Geert Maertens (lead guitar), Sam Claeys (second guitar and bass guitar) and Johan Isselee (drums). Originally the band was called The Bungalows but after some time they changed their name into Red Zebra. In 1980 they had their biggest hit 'I Can't Live In A Living Room' which was released via Zebra Records and this was their first release and today still a punk classic. With their big hit, Red Zebra also had their international breakthrough as a 'small band' from Belgium. In 1986 Red Zebra decided to quit and each member took a different direction in music. But with the release of the compilation CD 'From Ape To Zebra' in 1992 and the continuing pressure and demand by fans for a reunion-tour, the 5 original members decide in 1994 to start touring again and even to make new material. Also their new material became a great success. In 2000 Red Zebra celebrated their 20th anniversary of their hit song in Bruges at a unique concert for their fans with old and new material. The group still exists and also has a related project today, namely The John Lennon Rifle Club.

THE INDEX - Jetlag 7'' 1978
This rare record was a request by my swedish mate and was released via INDY Records in a limited edition. Can't say much about them but these two numbers are nice. The a-side is more an instrumental with a fat bass line and a bit voice attending, seems this was a long flight when the song was created, who knows. Anyhow beautifully melodic impulsive. The b-side is a classic wave stomper and also ok. I think this was their only release. Go for it!

BRATS - The Lost Tapes 1979
Freshly regenerated and full steam ahead into the blog business with this hot record. The Lost Tapes is exactly what it is, lost recordings of this old danish punk band and this rare piece of vinyl was released in 2008, which was actually their first album, but was never released before and there only classics on it. Brats were from Copenhagen and formed in 1977 as a punk band. Original line-up featured Hank Shermann (real name Rene Krolmark, at that time known as Hank de Wank) on guitar, vocalist Franz De Zaster, drummer Eddie Haircut and bassist Mickey Rat. After recording songs for danish Pære Punk compilation, the band split up in 1979, not much later reforming as a heavy metal band with new members. So this album is one of my all time faves and if you listen to you know why.

SUBWAY - One Way Subway 12'' 1979
Last today with this rare gem and then is here one week pause.
Subway starts already as a famous hippie band from 1969 to 1972 and in 1976 they leave this image and do what they really born for: Punk! The group performs with wonderful nicknames like Pete the Screamer, Robbie Rauser, Pretty Paul Morelli, Mr. Tid Solo and Wes the Whipper. Performances take locations including The Bronx, on Punk Pop on Martinikerkhof during Summer Manifestation on July 29, 1977 and opening for Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers on 24 November 1977. Subway surfs along on the waves of the "Groninger Springtij", the country is going in and making records. National highlights include four performances in February 1978 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. A live recording "Working For The Company" appears on the compilation 'Keihard En Swingend!', with an action photo of Pete the Screamer on the cover. Through the Amsterdam punk label No Fun they released their first 7inch Jesus Loves Me. In October 1978, the group leaves for England for a tour. Their music is quite Rock'n'Roll punky and the rocking rhythm & blues sound is brilliant. The group visit Berlin and a tour following in the Netherlands. In 1979, the mini-album One Way Subway came out on Universe Productions with six ass-kickin' smasher with nice lyrics. In 1983 the group takes final leave on the My Generation Festival.
Have a great time, enjoy music and the Sun!

COSMIC PSYCHOS - Go The Hack 1989
A few hours left so an old post from my former Blog and Fuckin' Hell comes out with the second album by this awesome band from down under, I really love their sound: dirty, rough, simple, garagey punk rock & roll” that the band excelled creating. Cosmic Psychos is a punk trio which was formed in the late 80s. Originally, Bill Walsh and Peter Jones were playing in the band called Spring Plains, which broke up in 1985. That same year they invited Ross Knight to join the group and thus Cosmic Psychos were born. Robbie Watts replaced Peter Jones after the recording of the brilliant live Slave To The Grave album in 1990. After a long hiatusa, at the end of 2005, the Psychos went to the studio to record the new album "Off Ya Cruet!" with a new drummer Dean Muller that replaced Bill Walsh. After the shock about the tragic loss of Robbie Watts, it was an option to drop the brand "Cosmic Psychos", but Ross was overwhelmed by the grief and support of the fans, so he decided, with full support of Robbie's kids: "There's more beer to be drunk!" John Onya (from the Onyas) was chosen as the one to play the guitar as he has already been friend of the band for quite some time.
V/A - Sveriges Största Singel III 1983
Sveriges Största Singel was a mini serie of three records by Mistlur Records, again sold to a single price and full with more Alternative/Pop/Punk label bands. I listen much to the Raketerna album and I thought somewhere I know the last song on their record and found it here. Volume I I found quite amazing, and this compilation is as strong. Nice artwork with much information inside (in Swedish), you can discover the early new swedish sound of the 80s. Enough words, I must hurry because I fly off.
1.Hunger - STADION
2.Salta Diamanter - LOLITA POP
3.Lågsäsong - DOCENT DÖD
4.Staten Och Kapitalet - EBBA GRÖN
5.I Det Tomma Sessionsrummet. Studenten. Kanslisterna - DAGENS UNGDOM

MAD - Na Und! 1984
From Lucerne comes this wave/pop/punk combo called M.A.D. which existed in the early 80's. After the release of two solid singles they bring out their only album on MAD Records in 1984. A total of ten melodic punk songs with a light pop wrap, with sometimes critical global texts (nazis, war), serious topics about the page 1 girl in the daily press and personal views on love, death and devil (and I hate getting up early too). An interesting album indeed and they manage the leap between punk and pop (or NDW) with their brilliant ten songs and provide for entertaining pleasant mood. - Forget Your Past... Forget (even if it's hard) - So enjoy this rare classic.

AFFLICTED - I'm Afflicted 7'' 1979
One more piece from the Wanted-List. This rare record (Bonk Records) was made by a one-band band comprising Steve Hall which he formed in the late 70s. You can get more infos about the record and band on the great PunkyGibbon site. Two classic kbd goodies which bash in. It begins sonehow with live audience but I don't know if this is a live recording, if then this is a first-class live sound. Howsoever, both songs are terrific and maybe I should get even a full length album. So, now fast to the stadium for the last home game of the SGE in this season. Enjoy!

RAKETERNA - s/t LP 1982
Uhhh, Yeah, this is the right record for early in the morning. Melodic Poprock with echo guitars and quiet noises, Yeah, this is a fantastic record. A bit info about Raketerna, they were a group that played during the years 1979-1982. The Rockets was formed by Hasse (vox+guitar), Per (guitar+vox), Mats (drums) and Pelle (bass) from the split of the punk band Grisen Skriker (Pelle was later replaced by Peter) in Stockholm. They released a few singles, a 12'' inch and one full length album on the record label Mistlur Records. They toured localy with the much popular Swedish punk group Ebba Grön in the early 80's and appeared on some compilations. The band also featured extensively in the documentary short film 'Hemligheten' - A film about Hasse (Edström) and 'Johanna' from 1982 by Rainer Hartleb. So you have lack of sleep as I then take this album with a cup of coffee and enjoy every tone of it.
