UHF - Jorge Morreu EP 1979

Beautiful memories and moments with this sound.

1978, in Almada a band of four guys wanting to take revenge on the music. The group was formed by Américo Manuel (drums), Carlos Perez (bass guitar), Renato Gomes (guitar) and Antonio Manuel Ribeiro (vocals, guitar). The group's first concert was on November 20, 1978. This is the first release by our all time fave band UHF from Portugal and the EP 'Jorge Morreu' ('George Died') is about a death by Overdose. "The godfathers of Portuguese rock" played brilliant melodic power/punk/pop songs and they are big stars in their country. At that time UHF has traveled the entire country, and even do the first part of the concerts from the likes of Dr Feelgood and Elvis Costello and then they're in. I love them and if you think I'm crazy so listen to their songs and I'm sure you search this blog for more UHF stuff. A quite delicious sound and We both loved to listen them everytime. There is a second edition released (one year later I think) by this EP with different covers. Enjoy!

CRISE TOTAL - E A Crise Continua 1996

Another example here, this band needs more than ten years to put out a record and the reason why I honestly can't understand because this music kicks every stupid asshole and if I had a label these times I would take it immediately. Crise Total (Total Crisis) were formed in 1983 in two Lisbon suburbs (Algueirao & Portela), they were pioneers of the Hardcore/Punk movement in Portugal along with bands like Mata-Ratos/Ku de Judas/Cagalhoes/etc. they just had 25thaniversary & still going strong! The first line-up included Manolo (voice), John Philip (drums), Rui Ramos (guitar) and Paul Vial (bass). From the start they're at home in the early british and american 80's Hardcore sound, rough, fast and angry, although after six years it turned into a bit more post-punkish thing which saw the band changing their name. Their first song onto vinyl was on the great Ao Vivo No Rock Rendez Vous Em compilation from 1984. They were also present on a few tape comps and on the 1989 Tour De Farce #3 record. They had several line-ups but most of the time and recently the dynamic duo Manolo and Rui."They celebrated 25 years of Crise Total and since then the band has continued to gig every time its possible since Manolo lives in the U.K. these days, the begining of next year they are getting together to record a new album or maybe a split...ahhh, also when they had they're 25th aniversary a live cd was put out in form of celebration with some of the old recordings from the '80's...this is the short version bio and for now we know that that the crisis does continue, for how long we don't know but thats the way things are." (Manolo '09). E A Crise Continua is the debut record, released on Fast'n'Loud Records and full with sixteen crisis-proof songs. Hossa!!!

UHF - Rua Do Carmo 7'' 1981

Here's a special single of my Portuguese favourite band UHF. "Rua Do Carmo," offers two classics, the A-side is from the album "À Flor Da Pele" and the B-side "(Vivo) Na Fronteira" is an exclusive track. Both songs brings again brilliant pop/punk/rock at its best. I love these guys. If you have the chance to see them live then go out. Damn good record and always in our record player on vacation.

V/A - Killed By Death #007 2000

In principle I like almost every Killed By Death compilation LP but in this I was very excited so far. The track list here reads like a historical event, equipped with tons of rarities nowadays which are only still available at exorbitant prices. You can probably imagine how happy I am when this part of cream fluttered into my house. At this point, again my deep bow to you, Fredrik. I will not use more words about the music, only this: This compilation kicks every lame ass and shoots like a machine gun, volley to volley, in your blood. Whoever here sits still is definitely disturbed. 1000 copies, I think, were made and this is a german release. Generally an awesome LP with no losers and nice to see some good French bands, especially Les Olivensteins, and the Remo Voor song is really cool as well. Pflicht-Download!!!!
