ARTIFICIAL LIFE - s/t EP 1988

Only vinyl by this five piece from Winnipeg/Manitoba and Artificial Life were Jay (vocals), Damon & Jason (guitars), Brad (bass), Mike (drums) and this EP was released on their own label (Artificial Industries)A lot of good bands have spawned from this region and some have become famous and are still active today. Unfortunately not Artificial Life, probably a short-lived project and more local on the go. One more reason to appreciate their EP, which deserves your attention with four solid tracks. Nice slab with tempo and I like it. Not represented on any of the relevant Canadian compilations, you see, how rare and undiscovered this interesting band is. April is hereby closed.

SGE Victory-Burger

Well, yesterday in the Euro-League it was a good game from both teams and the Victory-Burger, which of course came with the game, did its job. The SGE has created a very good starting point and the entry into the final is within reach. What you see here is a classic burger with hand cheese (Handkäs), traditional and hearty.... and very very tasty. Easy to imitate and definitely a speciality. The anticipation for next Thursday is great and of course I'm hoping for a win and thus a trip to Seville. But let's wait and see, West Ham must put everything in and I expect an attractive second leg.

KLOTZS - Schwarzer Planet 10'' 2013

Yesterday's gig was fantastic and now I'm listening to the gifted Positive Energie compilation on which Klotzs, Ingo (vocals/bass/guitar) and Sascha (drums) from Siegen, don't have a song on it but I'm now in the mood for melancolic aggressive D-Punk, Post-Punk in this case if you want, and 'Schwarzer Planet' is the first record, I'm not really sure', which shows Klotzs as a two-man combo and first I was skeptical how it could work, but one gig showed me clearly how it goes and I ask you, how many bands do you know in this formation? Exactly, not many. All the more remarkable their performance, and what can I tell you?: Es Funzt Great!! Enjoy six delis and if I you believe there are more musicians on these recordings, you are deceiving enormously. - By the way, both are very handsome guys and it's nice to meet them from time to time & I'm looking forward to the next. Whoever knows them knows what I'm talkin' about; to all my international friends: L.I.S.T.E.N.

ATTENTAT - Tatuerade Tårar 1981

Tonight dear friends I'm going to the first concert after a two-year Corona break and I actually wanted to post a cool live recording of the band, but I don't have much time, I'm going to the dentist right away (my third doctor's appointment today) and I have to hurry, quickly ripped an LP in between..... puhhhh stress what/is announced. To the post: Attentat are Swedish Punx originating from Askim/Gothenburg, and established in 1978. This is their great debut on Hiss Records and more info of them you find on the Som En Fågel post. The lyrics during the first period were not too sophisticated, but nevertheless effective in their straight forwardness based on an anger over the conditions of society and a depression in the face of the harsh demands of adulthood. In addition to aversion to "elite culture", bile was also spewed over other commercial music genres. After a hiatus in 1984 they come back 1991 and signing with Arda Records and since then they've been working tirelessly

V/A - Sicher Gibt Es Bessere Zeiten, Doch Diese War Die Unsere #2 1992

Höhnie Records released in collaboration with Nasty Vinyl the second part of this fantastic mini-series with lots of unreleased material by bands from the former German Democratic Republic (the word Democratic was an absolute joke)The LP version was limited to 2000 pieces and came with a nice A5 booklet with lots of infos about the participants and this file is the CD with bonus tracks. As before on Volume 1, the song selection is again extremely decent and the recordings have a much better quality, I can't tell what years they're from but that doesn't really matter. Fact is, living as Punkrocker in this fucking system was anything but easy and this is clearly reflected in the lyrics of the bands and anyone who lived in the 'free' world can hardly imagine with all the reprisals to be faced be, locked up and living like in jail - the so called "Iron Curtain" - just terrible and it shows once again what people are capable of. We don't need systems that tell us who we are and what we have to do, Fuck You! Live your life how you see fit and don't let the Bastards fool you. By the way, this sucker was re-released in 2002, partially on colored vinyl. And now.... breakfast.

WARRIOR KIDS - Adolescent 7'' 1983

Einer geht heute noch and we travel southwest to the Mediterranean Sea and meet an Oi!/Punk combo there: Warrior KidsFormed in Marseille 1982 by Marc (vocals/bass), Thierry (guitar/vocals), René (drums) and after a few rehearsals in August 1983 they go to Hirondelle Studios near Montpellier to record two tracks in two days. It's thanks to the boss of the Punk clothing store "Fa7" who gives them money to help them out. The 45rpm Adolescent/Forces De L'ordre was printed in 1000 copies and was published in early January. The cover photo is taken behind the Plaine district in Marseille and soon they will appear for a concert in Aix. The group stops for damn military service but however, they found time to record their debut for the 77KK label at the Auris studios in Marseille in September 1985, which already included the track 'Ville Morte' for the 77KK label compilation. The album Les Enfants De L'Espoir... was distributed by New Rose and released in 1986 when they returned from the army. Thierry left the band and the group stopped giving gigs and disbanded.

In 1993 they came back with Pierrot as new guitarist and a new 7Inch Don't Tell Me Lie was released and they gave a furious concert at the Haunted House. After another hiatus they came back at the beginning of the millennium and finally set their way through and with Marc at the helm of the trio the Warriors Kids have produced more than ten albums and recorded many of their concerts which they have performed in USA and Canada as well as in Belgium, Germany, Switzerland & Spain. Enjoy two delicious stomper!

BERNWARD BÜKER BANDE - Körperkontakt 7'' 1981

The Bernward Büker Bande was founded in the Ruhr area in 1979 by five extremists in terms of character and music in the following line-up: Bernward (vocals), Volkmar (guitars), Dieter (bass), Michael (piano), Rainer (drums) and in 1981 were six songs recorded for the mini-album Herzlichen Glückwunsch Zur Psychose and this 7inch was released (Welt-Rekord/EMI) as an appetizer before. Two amazingly good pieces somewhere between Rock & Roll, Punk and PowerPop, with the title track being a real bombshell. Fast and solid tempo with expressive lyrics, fits every punk compilation. The Flip is a little 'quieter' but not inferior. A reviewer wrote at the time: "These recordings show that German rock music can do without intellectual experiments with a Teutonic touch." A second album followed, but BBB unfortunately received little attention and went under in the course of the so-called NDW.

NECRACEDIA - Fight For Change EP 1990

From time to time melodies go through my head and I check whether the slabs are digitized and yesterday I listened to my vacation Compilation Bring Back The Sun from 2009 after a long time and got stuck with the following combo: Necracedia. But it was already late and so I looked today, and lo and behold: I had something to catch up on, and here it is: the second EP by the four on Bad Card Records with four brilliant mid-tempo smasher. A bit info: founded in Pittsburgh and the band were active from 1986 to 1992 and consisted of Scott (vocals), Wes (guitars), Sean (bass), Rich (drums) and in 1988 their first demo came out and after they brought some to the people, the first 7Inch followed two years later (Tired on N.F.O. Records) and this superb one. Wreck-Age liked their sound, sensible people I would say, and released their fantastic album Now I See Clearly in 1991 which I have renovated with new scans and rip and is an absolute >Must<. I love particularly their brilliant lyrics in which I always find myself again, outstanding... Two more singles followed but with no new songs, all on the album. A few compi visits were made and finally, Necracedia played their last gig on February 28, 1992 at a Fire Hall in Butler, PA. Some band members then went on as The Bad GenesThat's it, nothing more today, I'm tired (my favorite tune on this EP) and hungry.

MAYHEM - Gentle Murder EP 1982

One hour until today's match against Hoffenheim and I'll pass the time with a cracker, the debut 7Inch from Mayhem on Riot City Records with four rough speedies. Founded 1979 in Southport by Mick (vocals), Johnny (guitar), Deadcat (bass), Collo (drums). Info from discogs: Initially started with a load of mates knocking about together coming out of the legendary Eric's club Liverpool where they all went to the matinees on a Saturday except for Collo who was a bit older and hit the Punk scene with full force because he could. Mick's old school mate Andy Carroll was involved in the early days as manager, he also was involved with sleeve artwork and created the band's logo as well as taking some of the sleeve pictures. Andy signed Mayhem to Riot City Records of Bristol which led to touring with Vice Squad. Numerous independant gigs went on with support for the Exploited at Brady's (ex Eric's) being a particulary mad night for the book. Mick McGee, Andy Carroll and later, one of the Mayhem wreckin' crew ~ Phil 'Rabbit Man' Harrison got involved as road crew for the DK's also. The lads did three UK tours with the DK'sAs ever band members switch about with other local groups and Mayhem members were also with Blitzkrieg and The Insane. Mick Collo was formerly with the earlier Southport Punk band The Dumb Blondes. This is from David Ball, of Failsafe fanzine fame. - Enjoy!

SWINGIN' UTTERS - Stuck In A Circle EP 2013

Enjoyable three track EP by the Swingin' Utters from Santa Cruz. Originally formed in the late Eighties but after a seven-year hiatus, the band reformed in 2010 and have since released four more records. On this little explosion are Johnny (vocals), Jack & Darius (guitars), Miles (bass) & Greg (drums) in action and celebrate refreshing, raw and raspy streetpunk. Released via FatWreck Records, 409 copies on green with black splatter vinyl. Stuck In A Circle is very solid and pleasant music to start the weekend, have a great one. Cheerio!
