V/A - The Price Of Silence 2013

Attractive sounds from my favorite country and the songs were recorded from the late 80s to early 90s. Three combos, probably from the Athens area, have the channel full anwant to share their aggressive moods with us and they do this with full passion. Top record, fantastic hymns and hearty as a sunny holiday in Greece... Enjoy!!

REASON TO BELIEVE - When Reasons Sleeps, Demons Dance 1990

A remnant of my old blog and I don't remember who sent it but it's worth to post this music again. Reason To Believe was formed in South Bay, Los Angeles in summer 1987. They released "The Next Door EP" in 1988 and "When Reason Sleeps, Demons Dance " two years later, both on Nemisis Records. The band plays a decent catchy melodical hardcore with a singer who's voice is damn amazing, reminds me a litte bit of the powerful English sound from HDQ, Gun's & Wankers or the Instigators. These twenty-five minutes are quite brilliant and has such dynamic like a waterfall and I can listen to everytime, everywhere, early 90s the band split up and now ready for the Waldstadion!

LES CADAVRES & VATICAN - Rien N'a Changé 12'' 1982

Paris, city of love and home of many cool french punk bands. For example these two rockers. This 12'' was issued in 1982 by F.L.V.M. and we have fine well-produced mid-tempo punk from Les Cadavres with four powerful, accelerated singalong choruses numbers, excellent stuff. With short interruptions they have released lots of 7Inches + albums to date and according to my information they still alive. - The flip belongs to the Vaticans and in their short lifespan (1981-1984) they have not much recorded but this three tracks are pretty cool and excellent as well. Fazit: 1A punk rock sung in French with a touch of Oi! = fine release!

P.F. COMMANDO - Svenne Pop 1978 + Nu Ska Vi Ha Kul 1980

No big surprise now because Sweden is blessed with brilliant punk bands and P.F. Commando from Gävle prove it now with their two EP's. Excellent catchy music which I can listen to again and again. Everything's just right: sound, tempo, voice! As good as it gets! The band was created by Sonny Jansson and Janne Ricknell and they were one of the first swedish punkbands that recorded an album called Manipulerade Mongon and came out 1979. At the same time they were featured on the compilation "Nä Nu Gävlar". During their existence they release two more albums, Jag Är En Duva (1981) and "In A Pose" (recorded 1979 and released in 1997). Excellent music!

THE RAGS - s/t EP 1990

Loud, fast and melodic '77 punk from Darmstadt hide this four men in their luggage and it's time to open the door to the barbarians and together we celebrate their debut record with three ass-kickin' numbers, nothing more nothing less, released via the essential German label Incognito Records. The Rags: Sebastian (vocals), Holger (bass), Reiner + Marc (guitars) and Oli (drums), had also an song on the not uninteresting international Flops Of The Pops compilation and in the same year they published their only album called Crunch (coming soon). I think after playin' a few gigs this year the band broke up. So enjoy a small legacy by this great combo for your deaf ears.

DIE X AGENTEN - Durch Die Wüste 1983

Fuck! I hope I will not get sick, since yesterday fever and sore throat, so today only a quick flare. Let's move to Hamburg and I remember it took a long time to get the 2nd album by the X AGENTEN because the debut Im Lichtermeer is absolute brilliant and I must had to hear this damn successor, but unfortunately they push their "punky" wave sound in the back and float more into a poppy, more keyboards & less guitars style and that brings songs with over three minutes out. Even textually they move around in a peaceful landscape with little thorns. Well, Durch Die Wüste is still a nice album and you can use it maybe for a nice evening for two with tons of wine/beer and Ahle Worscht or anything else. Released via Reflektor Z and the Agents were: Martin (vocals), Jan (bass), Oliver (guitars), Gerald (drums) and all (keyboards). Now back into bed, DVD in and prepare myself for Sunday's match.

FRANKIE STUBBS - Unhinged EP 1995

Always a good choice and a permanent guest on my turntable is this gentleman: Frankie Stubbs, known by his rough voice in Leatherface, Jesse, Pope, N.R.F.B.... and he released two solo records, first the Unhinged EP on Rugger Bugger and in 2000 a 10'' via Sounds Of Subterrania and both goodies in this post. Nine acoustic beautiful melodic songs, some covers plus an unpublished one, made to come down and refuel new strength. There are only a few people who can transport such emotions and Frankie does it in an impressive way and too bad that he obviously stopped making music. Well, eventually it is enough - Thanks!

V/A - Killed By Synth Vol.1 2012

Last but not least on this icy Thursday a compilation with sixteen nervous synth punk tracks from the early days and I was really surprised about the title. We all know the fantastic records that came out mostly in the 90s and unfortunately not much follows nowadays but sometimes something comes along, like this beautiful record and this is a bit chaotic: all in all are fourteen songs on it and the tracklist is not correct either but I completed it and now everything is in order. All bands from the States and most tracks are from rare singles that hardly anyone knows, including me, so an excellent reason to look for it. Healthy mix definitely and a synthesizer can also please. I'm curious if Volume 2 follows. What do you all mean?

1.Signals - SHOX LUMANIA
2.City Streets - LAST FOUR (4) DIGITS
3.Red Asphalt - RED ASPHALT
4.Modern Noise - A-MOMS
5.Laundramat Lover Boy - ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
6.T.V. - BIG BOYS
7.Police State - ASBESTOS ROCK PYLE
8.Rip Me - OIL TASTERS
9.People - F-SYSTEMS
10.Thomas Edison - BOB
11.Pedestrian Walk - THE GIRLS
12.Industrial City - ANTI-MATTER
13.Electrical Generator - CARDBOARDS
14.Mater Dolores - SCREAMERS
15.Identity Loss - ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
16.Nothing To Hide - NERVOUS GENDER

WARM GUN - s/t EP 1977

We top it now with this little slab by Parisians punx Warm Gun with their only record on Isadora who unfold a very sharp rock and that, like great part of the bands of the first wave of French punk, remit to influences proto American punk. The line-up while they recorded this homonymous EP were Thierry and Philippe (guitars), Fred (bass), Olivier (drums) and Jean-Paul (vocals). During their two years of existence they appeared later on some compilations, two here: Killed By Death #24 and Paink (French Punk Anthems 1977-1982)Four cozy mid-tempo numbers which sure to hit and I'm looking forward to the weekend.

MISFITS - Live In Detroit 1983

Oh No not another Misfits bootleg .... oh yes!! This is a broadcast recording in an acceptable sound quality I would say. Twenty-two horrorpunk nuggets and this record was released in an edition of 500 copies by Radio X in 2016. They bring the gig decently into your room and of course they are more dynamic on Konserve, example Earth A.D./Wolfsblood. I think, a good start for February and this slab will quickly warm you up.
