V/A - Killed By Death #15½ 1998

I believe it's time for another highlight from the glorious bootlegger front and I quote the lines of the one who compiled this record from the backcover: "Dear collector scum fucker, here is the ultimate Ami punk installment! On some KBD volumes the impotent geeks focused their interest only on top rarities, not on the fucking music!!!". Here you'll find the top of the uncompiled U.S. punk songs 1978-1981. Regular geeks can be satisfied. Your fave KBD comp. is in your hands, so if you're still thinking about it, pick it up stupid asshole! If you have punk balls, your cock will be satisfied. Shame on you if you are one of the losers buyin' now rare punk records at fuckin' crazy prices... we have them all since the day they came out at two dollars each!!! A limited number were released on yellow vinyl, for the rest of us, it is on black vinyl with plain white labels." I think 15½ has appeared in a small edition, was hard to get a copy and was not cheap you know but I love this serie and vinyl is still the best... other opinions?

BEFORE - A Wish Of Life 1982

From Denmark came Before and they were active from 1980-1983. At it's time considered one of the most important punkbands in Denmark. Fronted by vocalist Fritz Bonfils, the band featured a dark and intense music, recollect Velvet Underground or Joy Division, and their only album considered a landmark in the Danish underground. In the earliest incarnation of this shortlived band, the line up included Danish electronica pioneer Martin Hall and future lead-singer of Sort Sol (Sods), Steen Jørgensen. This Album was recorded at Karma and Hookfarm Studios in the spring of 1982 in Copenhagen and was released by Irmgardz Records. Ten remarkable driving punk/wave songs contains this awesome album which fits any mood. A permanent guest on my phone.

THE REPORTERS - Bare Hands 1983

Music for your ears by this New Wave combo from Athens and this is their one & only album on Creep Records, the first independent record label of the so-called "English-speaking" bands. This record is a classic new wave album with great charismatic personality in vocals and the Reporters founded by Kostas (guitar + voice), Solon (bass), Chrysostomos (keys), Paraskevas (guitars) and George (drums). Bare Hands is a nice post-punk/new wave record with very good atmospheric synth compositions with lush and dark lyrics and existential references and worries. But don't be frightened, it's a fantastic album, great cover and with Headleaders one of the best records from Greece and the label. In 2012 Geheimnis Records released a 30th anniversary edition of 2x10'' in 215 copies with the album plus the 7Inch 'Computer World' lots of pics and a small biography.

V/A - Reifenwechsel Leicht Gemacht 1981

Today is compilation day and the following is an outstanding slab with fuckin' rare stuff from Munich and this is one of the records which I unfortunately exchanged and today badly angry about it. I'm sure I have them give away against something comparable but do you know this: it comes the moment you look for the record, wanna hear it and then it's not there and you curse the day you remove them from your collection? This is quite often the case. Well, I hope it is in good hands. This grandiose compilation was released via Lächerlich! Schallplatten (1000 copies) with a 40 page booklet in a gatefold cover and from the twenty-three songs are the most exclusive, spiked with live and demo recordings is this piece of vinyl in my opinion one of the most interesting publications of German subculture. Magnificent German KBD sounds, even available on CD (Schlecht & Schwindlig).

EINLEBEN - Rauchzart 1999

Another band that I like very much and have I seen at many places in Germany and always enjoy is Einleben. A five nice sympathetic combo founded around 1994 and unfortunately dissolved in 2003. This is their second album with ten beautiful, melancholy punkrock numbers, often two-part singing with much power and strong melodies. The songs have the necessary attention to detail and are very mature. Einleben carry a lot of feelings, melancholy, variety and strength in a cold world, atmospheric songs with depth. The charm of the album unfolds it only really after repeated listens, what the long-term pleasure vastly maximizes. Has the first album Bunt a rougher punkier sound so is Rauchzart cleaner in the production, a bit different you know but that doesn't interfere, the platte invites you in the next starless summer nights. Comparisons to other great bands I spare you at this point, the band toured a lot with EA80 and I was lucky to catch a couple. Some members play since 2003 in Hi Tereska. And now feel the november summer sound!

L.S.K. - s/t LP 1997

Start July with one of my favourite German Punk band and it's really a damn good one: L.S.K. from Rathenow, near Berlin, founded in the mid of the 90's and the four gentlemen played punk rock of the gloomy sort. Who love the sound of the Gladbach EA80, like me, will love this record. First you would think this was a cheap copy but I must say L.S.K. do a very very good job. Overall, they have two self produced LP's and a mini-LP and appear on some punk compilations. Their music can be described quickly: fast short songs whose lyrics are usually held in person. I like to listen if I'm not in the mood for people/party or any action. Pretty cool live band. Disbanded in 2000 and they appeared under a new name called Die Angst. In any case: very recommended!!! New rip with new scans, Prost!

BULLDOZER - L'Enclume Des Jours 7'' 1977

Last one in June and we visit Paris and meet Bulldozer, a French punk band that formed in the late 1970s. Created by Gérard Pisani (vocals and former member of Martin Circus from 1969 to 1972), Paul-Jean Borowsky (guitars), Bob Brault (bass) and René Moulinot (drums) and they distinguished from the punk movement of the time with catchy melodies and satyric lyrics highlighted by the voice of Gérard. This is their first 7Inch on RCA and both songs are ok. The a-side is a solid mid-tempo punk'n'roller while the flip, Corned Beef (great title), is a five minute schunkel stomper. Bulldozer on many samplers represented, check them on discogs and find the interesting ones. Need more beer + I'm back soon.

MKK - Was Ist Denn Los Mit Mir 1982

MKK (Middle Catastrophe Combo) is a band which was founded in Berlin by seasoned studio musicians and singer Thomas' Crümel "Pliveritz who died much too young. This is their only album and was released by Toledo Records. Musically they play pretty pop music with lots of keyboards and very melodic harmonies. Awesome the title track 'What's Wrong With Me' and the ballad 'Every Way, Every Street'. Lyrically the band spread socially critical texts that differ from the usual NDW bands. That's reason for me to call MKK not a Neue Deutsche Welle band, just more punk and Thomas's rough vocals gave all the ten songs additional hardness and make this album never boring. If you like all the early PowerPop stuff then lend your ears to the MKK sound. You will not be disappointed.
